The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 268: Chapter 265: The Overprotective Principal, Why Did He Stop?

Just as Wei Shang and Feng Lei were still silently cursing Shan Kui for not helping them out of their predicament,

Old He glanced at them.

”What are you still standing around for? Hurry up and get back to the university!”

”If there’s a next time, you won’t get off so easily!”

”Oh, right. Your salaries for next year are gone!”

”I’ll have someone exchange them for compound potions and send them to the university later!”

Hearing this, Wei Shang and Feng Lei groaned inwardly.

’A whole year’s salary, gone! Isn’t that the same as cutting off our livelihood?’

But compared to other possible punishments, this was the lightest one.

The two of them quickly thanked Old He, Meng Die, and the others.

Then they hurried out of the office.

After that, they found the technical department and had them remove the realm-suppressing bracelets.

The moment the bracelets came off,

their Qi and Blood surged back wildly, and their realms shot up from 3-star to 6-star.

Wei Shang shook his head, a smug look on his face, and said, ”Man, it feels so damn good to get my realm back. If we went into Jail City now, wouldn’t we just steamroll everyone?”

Feng Lei shot him a glare. ”You have the nerve to say that? If you hadn’t been injured, we wouldn’t have abandoned our posts. Just thinking about it now scares me. Luckily, Lin Yi’s realm is high enough that Han Dong’s group couldn’t succeed. If something had really happened to him, even giving both our lives in exchange for his wouldn’t have been enough!”

Hearing this, Wei Shang’s expression darkened.

”Let’s go. Back to the university!”

The two of them hurried out of the Town Martial Department, got in their car, and sped back toward Xingwu University.

Meanwhile, Guo Hao and Wu Jie had just returned.

Upon entering the dormitory, they went straight to their respective rooms.

Zhou Qi and Sun Tao both found this strange.

”What’s with those two? Usually, when they see us, they can’t resist taking a few shots. Why do they look so dejected today? You think they suffered a setback?” Sun Tao asked curiously.

The words had barely left his mouth when Zhou Qi frowned and said, ”Alright, that’s enough. We walk different paths. Stay out of their business!”

Sun Tao smiled. ”So what now? Should we grab Wei Nan, get a bite to eat at the cafeteria, and then head to the Cultivation Field?”

”Yeah. My Qi and Blood have felt a little turbulent the past couple of days, like I’m about to break through. If I train a bit more at the Cultivation Field, I might be able to reach the next tier!”

Sun Tao gave him an envious look. ”Your talent’s pretty good. You’re already pushing for 3-star, and I’m still trying for 2-star. Sigh!”

”What’s the rush? Since Sister Qingru gave us those compound potions, haven’t you already reached 1-star, Tier 4? You’re about to hit 2-star. You’re not that much slower than me!”

Sun Tao nodded. For him, at this moment,

even reaching 2-star was far from enough.

’When I think about Lin Yi’s realm, the gap between us just keeps getting wider.’

’Catching up is already unrealistic. It’d be great if I could just close the distance a little.’

After they finished their discussion, the two of them left the dorm and went next door to get Wei Nan for dinner.

「A little after nine in the morning.」

Three vehicles from the Town Martial Department drove onto the university campus.

When the students of Xingwu University saw the three vehicles,

they all backed away with grave expressions.

The Town Martial Department showing up at the university was never a good thing.

They were here to enforce the law.

The news quickly reached the principal’s office.

When Tang Baichuan heard, his brow furrowed deeply.

He, of course, understood what it meant for the Town Martial Department to come to the university.

’But there haven’t been any reports of fights recently, let alone any students breaking laws or regulations.’

’Why would the Town Martial Department show up at the university out of the blue? What did they want?’

”Principal Tang, Captain Shan Kui of the Left Guard is here to see you!”

Soon after, his secretary hurried into the office.

Although the Town Martial Department had the authority to act first and report later, when it came to arresting someone at Xingwu University,

they still had to show the university some respect.

After all, Tang Baichuan belonged to the Demon Hunting Bureau.

And behind him, he had the backing of the Tang Family and the Yi Family.

Therefore, they didn’t want to push things too far and alienate each other.

Moreover, Lin Yi was a member of the Yi Family. Who would dare disrespect the Martial God?

”Mm, let him in.”

Tang Baichuan nodded, and the secretary quickly left.

Before long, the tall and broad-shouldered Shan Kui walked in.

”Hahaha... Principal Tang, it’s been a while! I trust you’ve been well!”

Seeing Shan Kui, who was built like a small mountain,

Tang Baichuan gave a calm smile. ”Captain Shan Kui, are you here at the university on official business?”

”Mm, on official business, of course. The Town Martial Department received a report that a few students from Xingwu University hired someone for a murder. Has Principal Tang heard about this?” Shan Kui’s smile vanished, his expression turning serious.

”Hired someone for a murder?”

Tang Baichuan was startled. He truly hadn’t heard about this.

It wasn’t that surprising, really, since it had only happened last night.

He was just the principal, not a nanny.

He had no obligation to watch every single student twenty-four hours a day.

Shan Kui nodded. ”Guo Hao and Wu Jie hired Han Dong’s group to ambush and kill Lin Yi in Jail City. This act violates the New District’s regulations, so the department sent me to take them into custody...”

Shan Kui’s tone was somewhat firm.

He wasn’t negotiating with Tang Baichuan.

It was more like a notification, informing him that the Town Martial Department was here to make an arrest.

Even if you didn’t agree, it wouldn’t matter; they had to be taken away.

Wu Kui had even been prepared for a falling out with Tang Baichuan.

After all, the Town Martial Department was coming to Xingwu University to arrest people. It was expected that Principal Tang Baichuan would be protective of his students.

He was famous for being protective of his own, a ”fine tradition” he had inherited from the Yi Family.

BANG—

Tang Baichuan slammed his palm down hard on the desk.

This gave Shan Kui a huge shock.

Just as a dark look crossed his eyes and he was about to say something,

the expression on Tang Baichuan’s face was even more furious than his own.

”Who did you say? Guo Hao and Wu Jie... who did they hire someone to kill?”

”Lin Yi...”

”Good, good, good!”

The moment he heard Lin Yi’s name, a murderous glint appeared in Tang Baichuan’s eyes.

”To think that scum like this has appeared in my Xingwu University! Hiring someone to murder a fellow student? This is an utter disgrace, a stain on the university’s good name!”

”Go ahead and arrest them! If the Guo Family or the Wu Family come looking for trouble, we will bear the pressure!”

Tang Baichuan was absolutely livid.

This, in turn, left Shan Kui a little dumbfounded.

’Principal Tang’s change in attitude, his reasonableness... it was like he’d become a different person.’

’Not a single sign of him protecting his own?’

’He didn’t even ask if the evidence was solid?’

’He just skipped all the standard procedures?’

Granted, the Town Martial Department never concerned itself with evidence when making arrests.

They arrested whomever they pleased, striking at the slightest hint of trouble.

They had always upheld the principle of ”rather wrongly arrest a hundred than let one guilty person go.”

This fully demonstrated their domineering and tyrannical nature.

However...

’This is all going a little too smoothly, isn’t it?’

Shan Kui sat there, momentarily at a loss.

Seeing he still hadn’t moved, Tang Baichuan’s face darkened. ”Captain Shan Kui? What are you still sitting here for? Aren’t you going to go arrest them?”

Shan Kui started, quickly snapping back to his senses.

”Principal Tang, it wasn’t just the two of them. It seems two or three other students were involved as well!” Shan Kui asked, testing the waters.

To this moment, he still couldn’t believe it would be this easy.

Tang Baichuan seemed to be losing his patience. ”Arrest them! Arrest every student involved in this, no matter who they are or what their background is!”

Seeing this, Shan Kui nodded in astonishment.

He stood up from his chair and said, ”Principal Tang, then... then I’ll really go make the arrests?”

”Shan Kui, since when did you become so long-winded?”

”I’ve already told you, their actions have damaged the university’s reputation. We absolutely cannot tolerate it. Arrest who needs to be arrested. The Prison Control Department can handle them as you see fit!”

”Oh, right. Let me ask you one more thing. What happened to the people they hired? And Lin Yi...”

”Lin Yi is fine. He’s safe now. The people who were hired are also students from your esteemed university—Han Dong’s squad, from the sophomore year. But they’re probably staying in Jail City for good. They won’t be coming back!”

Hearing Shan Kui say this made Tang Baichuan even more furious.

”Those animals! How could they do something like this!”

”You don’t need to consult me on this matter. Just arrest them. Go, quickly!”

”Do you need me to have the Xingwu Guard help you?”

Tang Baichuan hurriedly asked.

Shan Kui shook his head. ”No need. The Left Guard is here!”

”Mm, that’s good then!”

Tang Baichuan nodded lightly.

Even after Shan Kui had left the office, he still couldn’t quite believe Tang Baichuan’s attitude.

’Protective of his own? There wasn’t the slightest hint of it.’

’It was a classic case of placing righteousness above family ties.’

’The kind that brooked no questioning, at that.’

’This was completely different from the Tang Baichuan he knew; it was like he was a different person.’

But how could he have known?

As Lin Yi’s uncle by marriage, Tang Baichuan was also inescapably responsible for such an incident.

Luckily, no major disaster had occurred. If anything had actually happened to Lin Yi,

he would have no way of explaining himself to Tang Qinru and Yi Xiaoying.

And if his three brothers-in-law and father-in-law came looking for him, he would be utterly disgraced.

’For something like this to happen right under my nose?’

’This is my greatest failure...’

That’s why he wished he could arrest those people himself and hand them over to the Town Martial Department right now.

That way, even if Tang Qinru and Yi Xiaoying found out later,

Tang Baichuan would be able to explain himself.

At this moment, his face was completely black.

He walked to the window and looked out at the commotion on the field below.

The students were frightened and curious about the Town Martial Department’s presence.

However, not a single one dared to follow and see what was happening.

Tang Baichuan’s face was grim, the killing intent in his eyes unmistakable.

After a long while, he returned to his desk, picked up the phone, and dialed a number.

”Hello? Mi Yi, come to my office.”

Dormitory Zone 1, Building 3, Room 505.

Guo Hao and Wu Jie were still sleeping in their respective rooms.

They hadn’t slept a wink last night, spending the entire time in fear and trepidation.

Only after returning did they finally feel a sense of ease.

They had collapsed onto their beds to rest the moment they entered their rooms.

They both thought they would be safe as long as they made it back to the university.

But they never would have dreamed that disaster was about to strike.

Shan Kui arrived outside the dorm room with a dozen or so members of the Left Guard.

He glanced up at the room number, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

He muttered, ”Break down the door!”

”No, no, no! Don’t break the door, don’t break the door...”

Just then, an old man came hurrying over.

Shan Kui glanced at him. ”And you are?”

”I’m the dormitory manager for Building 3. The door’s perfectly fine, why break it? I’ll just open it for you!”

After the manager finished speaking,

he took a keycard out of his pocket.

With a soft BEEP, the door unlocked.

Shan Kui said a word of thanks and charged straight in with his men.

Seeing the four closed doors, the manager walked over again and said, ”Numbers 1 and 2 are Guo Hao and Wu Jie, the ones you’re looking for. The other two rooms belong to other students, so don’t break anything!”

Hearing this, Shan Kui nodded.

He walked straight to the door of Room 1.

And, surprisingly, reached out and knocked politely...
