The Entry-plundering Demon Hunter

Chapter 254: Chapter 251: Murder Case

He paid the money.

Lin Yi received the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear.

It was very heavy, but the weight was just right for Lin Yi.

”Young man, care to take a look at anything else?”

After taking the money, the old man smiled, ready to introduce more weapons.

Wei Nan quickly interjected, ”Old sir, do you think these weapons are toys? The more the merrier, huh?”

”He spent thirty thousand yuan on this beat-up spear. You must’ve made at least twenty-eight thousand in profit, right?”

”And you still want to keep scamming us?”

”Wei Nan...”

Just as Wei Nan was about to continue his tirade,

Lin Yi quickly stopped him.

”Boss, my friend has a big mouth. Please don’t mind him!”

”Hahaha, no worries, no worries. Doing business here, I’ve met people far worse than this. I’m used to it!”

Lin Yi smiled and put the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear into his Storage Ring.

He thanked the old man again, then left with Wei Nan.

”Why’d you stop me back there? I’m telling you, that old man is a crook. He even made up some story about a Spear Immortal. If it was really a spear used by a Spear Immortal, there’s no way it would end up here, right?”

Wei Nan explained hurriedly.

Lin Yi nodded. ”True. If it was really a weapon used by the Spear Immortal, how could it have ended up here? And for such a cheap price, too.”

”He most likely made up that story just to drive up the spear’s price!”

”But when I touched the shaft, the material felt really unique. It was like touching ice!” Lin Yi said with a light laugh.

Then he added, ”Anyway, it was only thirty thousand yuan. Not a huge loss, and it’s not like I got seriously ripped off.”

Seeing Lin Yi speak so casually,

as if thirty thousand yuan was nothing to him,

Wei Nan grinned and said, ”As expected of someone with a rich big sister looking out for him. ’Only’ thirty thousand yuan?”

”What does this have to do with my sister? I bought it with my own savings!” Lin Yi quickly retorted.

”Hahaha... I was just joking. You actually took it seriously!”

Lin Yi was speechless.

A long spear was a necessity for the current Lin Yi.

Although he had two weapon-based Cultivation Techniques, he preferred using a spear.

A long spear was more convenient, especially when facing demon beasts.

Even though the Candle Dragon Ancient Saber Technique was very domineering,

personally, Lin Yi preferred spear techniques.

For a long time, he had wanted to buy a long spear that felt right in his hands.

He just hadn’t found one he was satisfied with.

Now, he had found the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear here. Even if it was a fake and not the true weapon of Spear Immortal Han Luojiang, it was still pretty good.

At least its materials and craftsmanship were top-notch.

And he had managed to get it for just thirty thousand yuan.

He had truly gotten a bargain.

The two of them wandered around for a while longer but didn’t find anything else that caught their interest.

They also went up to the second and third floors.

Just as Qin Zhaoxue had said, the goods on the second floor were of relatively better quality than those on the first.

However, they weren’t that much better, and the prices were higher.

The third floor was comprised of individual shops.

Everything in these shops was authentic, but the prices were absurdly high.

Dozens of times more expensive than the floors below.

Lin Yi and Wei Nan took a quick stroll before hastily leaving the third floor.

As the arranged meeting time approached,

the two of them arrived at the meeting spot.

Sun Tao and Zhou Qi were already there. When they met up, they chatted about their respective hauls.

Zhou Qi hadn’t bought anything. He either didn’t like what he saw, or it was too expensive for him to afford.

Sun Tao, on the other hand, had bought a longbow and a weapon encyclopedia.

Lin Yi opened it and saw that it was full of records of various weapons.

It detailed what each weapon was, who forged it, its price, and so on...

As it turned out, Lin Yi flipped through it for a long time but couldn’t find the so-called Spear Immortal, let alone the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear.

Just then, Qin Zhaoxue and Shen Mengyi returned.

They both wore faint smiles.

”Did you get anything good?” Qin Zhaoxue asked with a smile.

So, the group members each recounted what they had bought.

”Sister Xue, have you ever heard of Spear Immortal Han Luojiang?”

”Who? The Spear Immortal... Han Luojiang?”

Qin Zhaoxue froze, looking at Lin Yi in surprise.

”How do you know about him?”

”Huh? You mean, this Spear Immortal is real?” Lin Yi was surprised too.

”Of course he is, but that was a hundred years ago!”

”This Spear Immortal, whose real name is Han Luojiang, wielded a Tiger Head Golden Spear with divine skill, reaching the realm of complete unity between man and spear!”

”There are detailed records about him in the ’Registry of Famed Weapons Masters’!”

”Why do you ask?”

After Qin Zhaoxue finished, Lin Yi smiled and shook his head.

”It’s nothing. We just met an old man who told us a story about the Spear Immortal.”

”An old man? Don’t tell me you got scammed?”

Qin Zhaoxue asked hurriedly.

Wei Nan was just about to say something when Lin Yi quickly jabbed him with his elbow.

A cry of pain prevented Wei Nan from getting his words out.

”It’s getting late. Why don’t we head out?”

”Alright!”

The group nodded and walked out of the trade fair.

It was already after ten, almost eleven o’clock.

But the streets were still bustling with traffic, a continuous flow of cars and people.

Many young men and women were still strolling through the night market.

Even the shopping malls hadn’t closed yet.

This came as a surprise to Lin Yi.

After all, in the world he came from,

malls usually closed around nine o’clock.

Even the ones that stayed open later didn’t operate this late.

However, after his brief surprise,

they hailed two taxis by the roadside and headed straight for the school.

After returning to the dormitory,

Lin Yi and Wei Nan went back to their respective rooms.

Wei Shang and Feng Lei weren’t there; they were still in the hospital.

Only Lin Yi and Wei Nan were left in the entire dorm.

It was much quieter.

Back in his room, Lin Yi first washed up.

Then he took out some Demon Beast Meat for Xiaoqi to have as a late-night snack.

While Xiaoqi was eating, Lin Yi took out the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear.

He examined the long spear carefully...

If what the old man said was true, and this black gold was actually Cold Ice Profound Iron,

then it matched the material of the spear. Holding it really felt like grasping a block of ice.

An ice that wouldn’t melt, its cold aura suffusing the entire weapon.

’The material is legit. It must be Cold Ice Profound Iron.’

’Most importantly, I like it.’

After Xiaoqi finished its late-night snack,

it found a spot and comfortably curled up to sleep.

Lin Yi also put away the Black Gold Tiger Head Spear and quickly entered the state of the Star River Qi Transformation Technique to continue his cultivation.

...

In the early hours of the morning.

4:22 AM.

On a street outside a residential complex in Songshan City.

The area was cordoned off with police tape. Personnel from the Town Martial Department and the Demon Hunting Bureau had all arrived on the scene.

Inside the cordon, a woman’s corpse lay on the ground.

One arm and one leg had been stripped to the bone.

It was clear she had been gnawed on by something.

Beside her was a black leather handbag.

Nothing inside was missing; her phone and money were all still there.

Chu Zhengxiong stroked his chin as he observed the scene. ”How many is this now?”

”The fourth...”

a middle-aged man next to him said in a low voice.

As soon as he spoke, Chu Zhengxiong frowned. ”What the hell, I don’t get it. How did this demon beast get in here?”

”Three murders in one week, and all in different cities?”

”It might not have been a demon beast,”

the middle-aged man said flatly.

Chu Zhengxiong glanced at him. ”Huh? Not a demon beast? Don’t tell me it’s an exotic beast?”

”Can’t say for sure. But based on the residual aura from the corpse, it was definitely a beast.”

”Old Chu, this case is your Demon Hunting Bureau’s responsibility now.”

”We can’t let this escalate and cause a panic. You need to find that beast and deal with it as soon as possible.”

After speaking, the middle-aged man took a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket.

He pulled out two and handed one to Chu Zhengxiong.

Chu Zhengxiong took the cigarette, lit it, and exhaled a puff of smoke.

”One week, three lives lost!”

”And all of them were women. Notably, all three corpses had one arm and one leg gnawed off. Old Jiang, you’re experienced with this stuff. What kind of beast has a penchant for this?”

Hearing this, the middle-aged man shook his head.

”You’re asking me? You’re from the Demon Hunting Bureau. You should know more about these demon beasts and exotic beasts!”

”I’ll give you a tip: the Restricted Area has been restless lately.”

”Some exotic beasts have been repeatedly attacking the defensive line. I suspect this one might have slipped out during the chaos.”

”Why don’t you go ask the garrisoned troops? You might find your answer there.”

Chu Zhengxiong took a long drag from his cigarette. ”What’s the use of finding an answer? As long as it’s a beast, we just kill it and be done with it!”

”These things have their own characteristics. Their choice of targets is generally consistent.”

”As long as you can identify that common trait, luring it out won’t be difficult.”

The middle-aged man nodded.

After finishing his cigarette, he turned and said, ”Well then, this case is in the Demon Hunting Bureau’s hands.”

”Yeah.”

Chu Zhengxiong nodded in response.

Then, the middle-aged man left with the people from the Town Martial Department.

In an instant, only the members of the Demon Hunting Bureau remained.

Chu Zhengxiong took another careful look at the woman’s body on the ground.

His brow furrowed deeply.

A short while later, another car drove up and stopped by the roadside.

The door opened, and Mo Yanfeng got out.

”We have a lead. The killer isn’t a demon beast, it’s an exotic beast that escaped from the Restricted Area. Also, there’s been some unrest in the Restricted Area!”

”I got a tip that more than one beast has taken advantage of the chaos to sneak into the city!”

After Mo Yanfeng finished speaking,

Chu Zhengxiong’s expression changed drastically. ”How many exotic beasts?”

”Not sure. At least three to five!”

”Three to five?”

Chu Zhengxiong’s eyes darkened.

”Three to five exotic beasts are enough to slaughter an entire city!”

”We have to find these exotic beasts as soon as possible, or things will get out of hand!”

Mo Yanfeng nodded, a grave expression in his eyes.

Exotic beasts were far more dangerous than demon beasts.

Their primary purpose was slaughter.

If they were truly allowed to mix into the city, it would cause an unimaginable crisis.
