The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 382: “I’ll Stop Her.”

“Rumble…!”

This wasn’t the sound of thunder, nor an earthquake, but the sound of the surging evil aura.

On this day, the pitch-black, fog-like evil aura, like a flood or an avalanche, finally burst out of the temple, out of the land of evil, and surged towards Cosmos.

“Ah!”

“What is this!?”

“No!”

“Help!”

Many people, startled by the terrifying commotion, left their buildings and saw the approaching evil aura, their faces filled with panic and shock. They began to flee desperately.

On the streets of Cosmos, countless people screamed and fled in terror, chased by the black flood, a scene of doomsday.

The most terrifying thing was that within the evil aura, countless crazed evil beings roared and charged towards the people.

The citizens could only scream, flee, and even weep in fear, turning the fortress city into a living hell.

It was a disaster.

It was a nightmare.

Those who witnessed this scene would probably never forget what happened today, a day that would be etched in history.

The horrifying scene made even the knights guarding the city gates lose their composure, and they eventually succumbed to fear and fled.

Thanks to this, the citizens gathered at the gates, who had been clamoring to leave the city, rushed out without hesitation. From every gate of Cosmos, a dense stream of people poured out like ants from a disturbed nest.

They were unfortunate.

But at the same time, they were also fortunate.

Although the torrent of evil aura continued to chase them, attempting to engulf the world outside Cosmos, at the critical moment, beams of light suddenly rose from all corners of the city, soaring into the sky and forming a massive transparent barrier that enveloped Cosmos.

“What is that?”

Leisha, still watching from the rooftop, looked at the barrier above Cosmos with a surprised expression.

“Such powerful magic power…”

Anima murmured.

At this moment, a halo of light, like ripples, protected the women, preventing them from being touched by the approaching evil aura and going insane.

The halo was black and white. The black was from Airi, and the white was naturally from Anima.

When the evil aura surged towards them, the two waved their hands simultaneously, summoning the black and white halos that blocked the incoming evil aura. ŕåꞐŏᛒÈs̈

Therefore, they could clearly see everything happening in Cosmos.

Now, thanks to the massive transparent barrier, the surging evil aura in Cosmos was blocked, unable to escape the fortress city.

The same went for the evil beings. They should have rushed out of the city, spreading across the land and becoming a true disaster, but they were blocked by the barrier, roaring and pounding on it, unable to escape.

In addition, within Cosmos, innocent citizens who were about to be caught by the evil aura and evil beings suddenly disappeared.

They were transferred outside the city, or rather, outside the barrier. They looked at the rampaging evil aura and evil beings inside the barrier with shock and lingering fear on their faces.

Airi, watching all this, understood.

“This is his doing, right?”

Airi looked at Lasha.

“Yes.”

Lasha was the only one who wasn’t surprised by this scene.

Because she knew very well why this was happening.

“After learning about Lilith from Miss Elise, Mr. Shien made preparations for this moment.”

Lasha explained.

After learning about the gravity of the situation and making the decision to break the seal if necessary, Shien had prepared this backup plan to prevent Cosmos from bearing the brunt of the disaster.

“These past few days, Mr. Shien has actually been having me take him to various corners of Cosmos, where he set up Bestowal Magic attributes.”

Lasha explained with an impassive face.

“The effects of those attributes are different, but generally speaking, when activated, they will directly form an independent barrier that isolates Cosmos and repels all individuals inside.”

This wasn’t an easy feat.

However, Cosmos had been experiencing random transfer phenomena due to the manifestation of the dark temple. There was also an independent space within the city that had previously sealed the temple. Therefore, if the environment and existing conditions could be utilized, reconstructing the magic formula, it could be easily achieved.

Shien had spared no magic power, utilizing his almost infinite magic power to the fullest to set up such a large-scale barrier.

This way, even Lilith’s power, or those powerful ancient beings, wouldn’t be able to easily break through the barrier and escape.

“We can still stay here because your magic power isn’t much weaker than Mr. Shien’s. With your protection, the barrier can’t unilaterally repel us.”

Lasha continued.

“Similarly, as the creator of the barrier, Mr. Shien, who possesses no less magic power than the barrier itself, and Lilith, the unsealed evil god, are probably still in the temple, not repelled by the barrier.”

In other words, Shien was now facing Lilith alone.

In all of Cosmos, only the four of them remained as spectators.

No, not four.

“It seems someone else unexpectedly stayed behind.” Airi seemed to have noticed something and looked towards the temple, saying calmly to Anima, “It seems because of your magic power protecting that little girl, she wasn’t repelled by the barrier, right?”

“…That should be the case.” Anima sighed. “I don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse for her.”

Anima’s words didn’t elicit much of a reaction from Airi.

As if she wasn’t interested in the girl at all, Airi continued to gaze towards the temple, causing even Lasha to fall silent.

Leisha naturally did the same.

However, looking at the massive barrier enveloping Cosmos and recalling the once slightly naive Hero, Leisha felt a mix of emotions.

“Has he grown to the point where he can construct such a large-scale magic barrier?”

She remembered that when she was secretly observing Shien, he was just a novice magician who was about to learn new magic, only able to use basic elemental magic with amplified power due to his vast magic power.

In just a few months, this novice magician had attained such magical prowess, making Leisha sigh with emotion.

Lasha, standing beside her, seemed to sense her master’s thoughts.

“This is Mr. Shien.”

Lasha said to Leisha for some reason.

“Lasha?”

Leisha was stunned and looked at Lasha in surprise.

But Lasha no longer paid attention to Leisha and also looked towards the temple.

There, an earth-shattering clash was about to begin.

…

“Boom!”

A storm of evil aura surged outwards, like a dark explosion, devastating everything.

The temple had collapsed.

All the evil beings were also blown away by the evil aura, disappearing without a trace.

The goddess with twelve black wings hovered in mid-air, like the eye of a dark storm, the core of hell’s vortex, continuously releasing astonishing evil aura.

This wasn’t the residual evil aura from thousands of years ago, but the true power of the evil god, an endless demonic poison that could drive all living beings to madness, corruption, and frenzy, the deepest darkness, the most primal chaos.

No life could maintain its rationality under this demonic poison.

A will that could resist this evil aura wasn’t something an individual could possess.

It wasn’t a sin that humans could bear. Even gods and demons would fall, truly terrifying.

Under such circumstances, within the storm of evil aura, a figure was holding a girl, resisting the onslaught of the evil aura, and exclaiming in shock.

“Why weren’t you repelled by the barrier?”

Shien, holding Elise, looked grim.

“Ugh…! Ah…!”

Elise groaned in pain, her face contorted, a flicker of madness in her eyes from time to time, telling Shien that she had been corrupted by Lilith’s power.

If it weren’t for the power of the Goddess of Life still active within her, Elise would have already lost her mind and turned into an evil being.

Only Shien, within the storm of evil aura, was completely unharmed, not affected in the slightest.

However, Shien wasn’t feeling well either.

“Boom!”

The storm of evil aura continued to rage, its power astonishing, sending Shien, holding Elise, flying like a cannonball, crashing into the outer wall of a building.

Rubble and debris flew everywhere, and dust rose, burying Shien within the building.

Lilith’s power couldn’t affect Shien directly, but it could still cause physical phenomena and impact him.

Of course, Shien wasn’t injured.

“Bang!”

With an explosive sound, Shien punched away the rubble and debris covering him and jumped out, carrying Elise.

“Damn it!”

Shien spat out a mouthful of dust-filled saliva and placed Elise on the ground.

“Hey, Saintess, pull yourself together and hold on. If there’s a way, leave this place quickly.”

Shien shouted at Elise.

“What… what are you going to do?”

Elise grabbed Shien and asked with difficulty.

Shien replied,

“I’ll stop her.”
