The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 381: “Just Watch Carefully.”

“—”

The atmosphere trembled abruptly, as if the world itself was about to shake, becoming incredibly oppressive and heavy.

Airi and Anima faced each other, one expressionless, the other silent, but both emanating a terrifying aura.

Their auras were like stars about to explode, black holes about to collapse, perceptible only to those present, causing Leisha and Lasha beside them to hold their breath.

They knew very well the terrible consequences and astonishing disaster that would result if these auras erupted.

And since Leisha and Lasha knew this, Airi and Anima naturally knew it as well.

Especially Anima, who couldn’t possibly be as reckless as Airi.

One was one of the Three Goddesses.

The other was one of the Six Demon Lords.

If they fought directly, not only the Kingdom of Mitra, but also the neighboring Ragna Empire would be affected.

That was the nature of battles between beings of their level.

Of course, the most important thing was that if they really fought, Anima would definitely lose in the end.

In the final battle a thousand years ago, Airi alone had suppressed two of the Three Goddesses, almost killing them on the spot.

And the Goddess of Life was one of them.

Therefore, Anima knew very well how terrifying this seemingly underage girl’s power was.

She was one of the current pinnacles of the Demon Race.

She was a being that transcended the concept of demons, extremely close to the Demon King.

In the Demon Race, known for its strength, a Demon Lord like her represented the strongest.

On the other hand, in the Divine Race, a high position didn’t necessarily mean great strength. Although Anima was much stronger than ordinary gods and humans, in terms of strength alone, she wasn’t at the apex of the Divine Race.

Among the Three Goddesses, the only one who could truly reach the pinnacle and even overshadow the Demon Lords was the Goddess of Fate, Lildas.

As for Anima, the Goddess of Life, and the Goddess of Nature, they weren’t the second and third strongest.

Among the Superior Gods, Artemis, the Goddess of Justice, who was considered an exceptional existence, was stronger than Anima and the Goddess of Nature, so strong that she could even rival Demon Lords.

And Lilith, the evil god, born at the same time as Artemis, was no weaker than her.

Strictly speaking, these two goddesses were the second and third strongest in the Divine Race, followed by the Goddess of Life and the Goddess of Nature among the Three Goddesses. ŔᴀƝȎᛒĚȿ

In the war a thousand years ago, when Anima and the Goddess of Nature were overwhelmed by Airi, Artemis alone fought the Ghost Demon, Doma, to a standstill.

Therefore, Anima knew the power of Demon Lords very well and was aware that she was no match for Airi.

This was a Demon Lord. Besides the Demon King and the Supreme God, only Lildas, the Goddess of Fate, considered the strongest in the three realms, could defeat them in single combat.

In the war of the past, if Artemis hadn’t displayed astonishing strength, single-handedly holding back the Ghost Demon; if the Goddess of Fate hadn’t fought alone against the Moon Demon and the Charm Demon, the eldest and second daughters of the Demon King and leaders of the Demon Lords; if the three goddesses of the Divine Race who jointly governed time, considered a trinity, hadn’t joined forces to fight the Poison Demon; and if the Hero’s companions and the strongest humans hadn’t formed an alliance of thirteen legendary-level experts above level ninety-five to fight the Beast Demon together, then the Divine Race and the human race would have been annihilated by the terrifying power of the Demon Lords.

As for Anima and the other of the Three Goddesses, they were constantly suppressed by Airi, the Dragon Demon, truly experiencing a near-death situation.

That was why Airi said those words—”I hope you can display power far greater than you did a thousand years ago.”

Otherwise, Anima would have truly been threatened by Airi.

Anima couldn’t imagine the consequences if Airi decided to cause trouble.

Although Lilith was terrifying, Airi’s threat was no less significant.

Moreover, Airi had the Demon Race and the other five Demon Lords behind her. If they really became enemies, it would be a disaster for the three realms.

Although the war a thousand years ago ended with the victory of the Divine Race and the human race, and the Demon Race was the loser, now, with the Supreme God in retirement and the Hero deceased, if a war truly broke out, the Divine Race and the human race might return to their previous state, being suppressed by the Demon Race.

Therefore, when the Demon Race sought peace and didn’t want to be enemies with the Divine Race and the human race, Anima, along with the Divine Race and the human race, also hoped that the Demon Race would stop causing trouble and starting wars.

Peace could never be achieved by the sole effort of any one force.

Peace was achieved through balance and mutual restraint between all forces.

While the Divine Race and the human race restrained the Demon Race, the Demon Race was also restraining the Divine Race and the human race.

It was precisely because of this that Anima didn’t dare to act rashly.

She only had one question.

“What are you planning to do?”

Anima was truly puzzled.

If Lilith were to be released, it wouldn’t be beneficial to the Demon Race, not just the Divine Race and the human race.

She was an evil god who would indiscriminately turn all living beings into madmen.

Surely, the Demon Race wouldn’t want to see this evil god released and cause harm to them, right?

Then, why was Airi here restraining her?

What was she planning to do?

And what was the human she was protecting, the one suspected to be a Hero, planning to do?

Anima couldn’t understand.

And Airi had no intention of explaining to her.

“You just need to watch.”

After saying this indifferently, Airi turned her gaze to the side.

There, Beatrice had only glanced at Anima at the beginning and had been looking in the direction of the temple ever since.

Only now, when Airi looked at her, did Beatrice turn her head and look back.

Airi and Beatrice looked at each other.

After a while…

“Go.”

Airi said.

Beatrice nodded and jumped down without hesitation.

“Wait…!”

Anima naturally recognized Beatrice and had been keeping a close eye on her in secret. Seeing her leave, she hurriedly tried to stop her.

But as soon as Anima moved, a chilling gaze pierced her.

Anima froze, then smiled wryly.

She knew that she couldn’t stop what was about to happen.

“…I hope you won’t regret this later.”

Anima could only say these words to Airi in a deep voice.

Airi smirked.

“This is a front-row seat. Just watch carefully.”

Airi’s voice slowly spread.

“Watch carefully and see what the true Hero, whom even Mitra couldn’t compare to, can achieve.”

No one knew what kind of storm Airi’s words created in Anima’s heart.

Leisha and Lasha exchanged glances, then chose to remain silent, gazing towards the temple.

The dark temple seemed to become even darker, even more terrifying.

The evil aura surging from within had become unprecedentedly dense, the black fog-like aura spreading outwards at an astonishing speed.

The evil beings roared, finally dispersing towards the residential areas and populated places of Cosmos.

A disaster was destined to befall this place.

…

“Crack, crack, crack…!”

The cracking sound of the crystal continued to echo in the temple hall, as if everyone’s hearts were shattering along with it.

The crystal sealing the wounded girl was rapidly cracking at a speed visible to the naked eye. Soon, it was covered in cracks, on the verge of collapsing.

“The seal…!”

“Damn it…!”

Maeve and Oz had completely lost their composure, one with an ashen face, the other roaring anxiously, but they were helpless.

“Ah!”

Elise also exclaimed, her face pale. She was about to rush forward, but Shien grabbed her.

“No, it’s too late.”

Shien stared intently at the sealed crystal, watching it crack at a visible speed, and sighed with mixed emotions.

“Hehe… Haha… Hahahaha…!”

Danas, lying on the ground, couldn’t help but laugh, his laughter growing louder and more maniacal, eventually turning into a roar of laughter.

“Hell is coming! Everyone!”

Danas stared at the shattering crystal seal with burning eyes, laughing and declaring loudly.

“Next, please enjoy!”

“Enjoy the beginning of this new world!”

“Hahahaha!”

Danas laughed wildly.

And then…

“Swish!”

The Holy Sword slashed down, and with a clean, crisp sound, blood splattered everywhere.

Danas’s head flew into the air, his face still maintaining a maniacal smile as it rolled on the ground.

His headless body stiffened for a moment, then collapsed to the ground, slowly losing its warmth.

Shien ended the life of the leader of [Mirage], and carrying Elise, whose face was pale, he looked towards the sealed crystal.

“Bang!”

With a shattering sound, the crystal finally broke completely, revealing the wounded girl.

Astonishing magic power churned the dark clouds above the temple into a vortex.

A terrifying evil aura, like a black fog storm, surged outwards, covering the surroundings.

The girl, who had been lying there, floated into the air and slowly donned clothes formed from the evil aura as everyone watched.

“Boom!”

The next moment, the evil aura gathered behind the girl, and twelve pitch-black wings unfolded.

It was the fallen goddess.

It was the ruler of darkness and chaos.

The strongest evil god, Lilith, had finally returned to the human world.

Endless evil aura surged from the temple, rushing out of the land of evil, towards Cosmos, and was about to engulf the entire world.

It was like the end of the world.
