The Conquerors Path

Chapter 1076: Chapter 1074 — The Sunken Throne

We moved into the absolute, uncharted depths of the ocean.

We had left the glowing, hyper-pressurised chaos of Trench-Spire far behind us, sinking past the geological boundaries of the known world. The heavy, commercial squabbles of the Dukes and the arrogant, iron-fisted laws of the Mermaid royalty simply ceased to matter down here. We were drifting beyond the reach of the light, beyond the reach of the deep-tide currents.

“The water feels different here.”

Luna projected directly into my mind, her silver eyes piercing the impenetrable blackness surrounding us.

“It is empty, yet it feels incredibly heavy. There is no scent of prey. There is no scent of anything mortal.”

She noted, her claws adjusting their grip slightly on the heavy fabric of my coat.

“That is because mortality is not permitted at this depth.”

Krave answered, her voice resonating with a sudden, profound smoothness that lacked any of her usual manic energy.

I looked at the ancient divine kraken gliding effortlessly beside my barrier. The transformation in her demeanor was subtle but absolute. The hyperactive, wildly competitive tourist who had spent the last week actively terrorizing high-society bankers and arrogant master chefs was melting away into the freezing dark. In her place, the true queen of the deep was emerging. Her posture was perfectly straight, her movements possessing a liquid, terrifying grace that commanded the ocean rather than simply swimming through it.

“We have crossed the abyssal threshold.”

I murmured, sliding my hands into my pockets as I analyzed the flow of ambient mana.

“The residual magical radiation of the deep-tide empire has completely vanished. The energy here is entirely raw. It is unshaped by any intent.”

I observed, feeling the profound, heavy silence pressing against my spatial folds.

“The Whale tribes claim dominion over the oceans, but they are terrified of the true dark. They stop migrating three thousand meters above us. This is my private ocean, Austin. This is home.”

Krave smiled, a soft, genuinely peaceful expression settling over her striking human features.

She raised a single, pale hand and snapped her fingers. The sound did not travel through the air; it vibrated directly through the fundamental fabric of the ocean itself. It was a command.

Instantly, the absolute, crushing blackness of the abyss was violently pushed back.

A colossal geological fault line fractured the ocean floor beneath us, opening into a sprawling, impossible subterranean expanse. But it was not dark. The entire rift was illuminated by a soft, breathtaking, ethereal light that did not originate from magma vents or artificial sun-domes.

It radiated from the architecture itself.

I stopped our descent, simply hovering in the water column as I took in the sheer, unfathomable majesty of Krave’s personal domain.

The Sunken Throne was not a city. It was a single, sprawling palace complex that stretched for miles across the uncharted trench. It was constructed entirely from pearls and flawlessly cut dark crystal. There were no arrogant, tacky displays of physical gold, and there were no desperate, heavily warded air-pockets designed to cater to surface dwellers.

The structures were woven together with ribbons of trapped abyssal starlight, creating sweeping, gravity-defying archways and towering spires that pulsed with a slow, rhythmic heartbeat of pure, divine mana.

“It is structurally flawless.”

I noted quietly, genuinely moved by the sheer elegance of the ancient sanctuary.

“There are no seams in the crystal. The pearl was not harvested; it was grown directly into the foundation. It is a masterpiece of elemental supremacy.”

I continued, analyzing the terrifying density of the magic holding the palace together.

“It is excessively large for one person.”

Luna added, her ears pitching forward as she stared at the sprawling, glowing estate.

“For a place deep in the sea, it’s quite good in looking good.”

The silver wolf declared, resting her chin heavily against my collarbone.

“It gets better.”

Krave beamed, though her smile retained that new, majestic edge.

She led the way, drifting gracefully down toward the absolute center of the palace. The primary courtyard was a massive, perfectly flat expanse of polished dark crystal, surrounded by towering pillars of glowing white pearl.

As my boots touched down onto the crystal floor, releasing the downward momentum of our drift, I immediately noticed the shift in the localized environment. The courtyard possessed its own, naturally occurring spatial displacement field. The crushing water was held back by the sheer, ambient authority of the palace itself, creating a massive, breathable atmosphere that smelled of cool night air and pure ozone.

I seamlessly collapsed my personal barrier, allowing the ambient air of Krave’s home to wash over us.

Before I could even adjust the lapels of my coat, the courtyard ceased to be empty.

They did not walk out of the pearl doorways, nor did they swim down from the glowing archways. They simply materialized from the shadows, stepping seamlessly out of the dark crystal as if they were born directly from the stone.

Thousands of them.

They were women of absolutely stunning, terrifying beauty. They were dressed in elegant, sweeping gowns woven from midnight-blue sea-silk and pale, translucent starlight. Their movements were perfectly synchronized, completely devoid of any wasted kinetic energy. They formed massive, flawless lines across the vast expanse of the courtyard, creating a living corridor that led directly to the central, towering pearl staircase of the primary palace.

I immediately shifted my vision, piercing past their physical beauty to analyze their conceptual weight.

My breath caught slightly in my throat.

“Imperial Realm.”

I murmured, my voice pitched so only Krave and Luna could hear.

“Every single one of them. Thousands of attendants, and the weakest among them possesses enough raw, condensed mana to effortlessly slaughter the entire Mermaid royalty.”

I analyzed, my mind rapidly calculating the sheer, devastating military power currently kneeling in the courtyard.

“They are my personal maids, Austin.”

Krave replied smoothly, walking slowly down the center of the living corridor.

“The ocean provides me with everything I will need. They do not age. They do not require payment. They exist solely to maintain the sanctuary while I sleep.”

Krave explained, her tone reflecting absolute, unquestioned authority over the terrifying legion of women.

As we walked, I focused my attention on the four women standing at the very base of the pearl staircase. They wore slightly darker gowns, their hair woven with fragments of black coral.

The pressure radiating from those four specific maids did not stop at the Imperial Realm.

“Dragonic realms.”

I stated flatly, maintaining my perfectly neutral expression as we approached the stairs.

“The head maids are sitting firmly at the 2nd rank of the Dragonic Realm. If they were to ascend to the surface, the terrestrial empires would classify them as walking natural disasters.”

I observed, feeling the heavy, suffocating weight of their auras pressing against my passive defenses.

“They manage the dusting.”

Krave noted casually, offering me a sideways, highly amused glance.

As Krave stepped within ten feet of the staircase, the entire courtyard moved as a single, flawless entity. Thousands of incredibly powerful, stunningly beautiful women dropped to their knees. They bowed their heads, pressing their faces near the polished dark crystal in a display of absolute, reverent worship.

“Welcome home, Our Sovereign.”

The thousands of maids spoke in perfect unison.

The sound of their voices was not a shout, but a harmonious, echoing resonance that physically vibrated through the air of the courtyard. It was the sound of complete, unquestioning devotion.

“Rise.”

Krave commanded, her voice soft, yet carrying a divine weight that forced the air to momentarily still.

The maids rose smoothly, their hands folded gracefully before them. They kept their heads slightly bowed, demonstrating the utmost respect for their returned queen.

However, as I stood casually beside Krave, my hands resting comfortably in the pockets of my coat, I could feel the subtle shifts in their auras. I caught the beautiful, glowing eyes of the head maids darting curiously toward me, and then toward the massive silver wolf draped lazily across my shoulders.

They were completely, utterly bewildered.

To these ancient, immensely powerful attendants, Krave was a god. She was the absolute pinnacle of existence, a being of unfathomable terror and majesty who commanded the darkest depths of the world. No one stood beside her. No one walked on her level.

And yet, here I was, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with their deity, looking at their Dragonic-level auras with the clinical, detached boredom of a man inspecting a slightly interesting painting.

“You did not inform us you were bringing guests, Sovereign.”

The lead head maid spoke. Her voice was melodic but carried the underlying, terrifying hum of a Dragonic-level predator.

“We would have prepared the grand dining hall.”

She continued, her glowing blue eyes flickering toward me, desperately trying to calculate my power level and completely failing to pierce my perceptual filter.

“That will not be necessary, El.”

Krave smiled softly, turning slightly to gesture toward me.

“This is Austin. And the creature currently shedding silver fur onto his coat is Luna.”

Krave introduced us, her tone carrying a deep, undeniable warmth that caused the head maids to physically flinch in surprise.

“They are not mere guests. Austin is my equal.”

Krave announced, her words sending a ripple of profound shock through the thousands of assembled maids.

“You will treat him with the exact same reverence and absolute obedience that you afford me. If he asks for a localized temporal shift in his quarters, you provide it. If the wolf asks for a seared leviathan, you hunt one.”

Krave commanded, the divine, absolute authority returning to her voice.

“Understood, Sovereign.”

El bowed deeply to Krave, and then, to my mild amusement, turned and offered me an equally deep, flawlessly executed bow.

“It is a profound honor to welcome the Sovereign’s equal to the Sunken Throne, Lord Austin.”

El murmured, her Dragonic aura completely submitting to the quiet, invisible threat I represented.

“The honor is mine, El.”

I replied smoothly, offering a polite, minimal nod of acknowledgment.

“Your maintenance of the spatial displacement field surrounding this courtyard is immaculate. The ambient atmosphere is perfectly balanced. You run an exceptionally tight estate.”

I complimented, deliberately using terminology that proved I completely understood the fundamental mechanics of their ancient magic.

The head maid’s eyes widened slightly, a flush of genuine pride touching her pale cheeks.

“Thank you, My Lord.”

El whispered, stepping aside to clear our path up the pearl staircase.

“I demand a bed.”

Luna projected suddenly, completely ignoring the thousands of Imperial-level maids currently staring at her in sheer disbelief.

“I have eaten heavily, I have traveled too far, and I am entirely exhausted by the constant environmental shifts. Austin, tell the women to find me a soft surface.”

The silver wolf commanded, letting out a massive, highly disrespectful yawn that echoed across the silent courtyard.

The maids stiffened, waiting for Krave to instantly vaporize the beast for daring to speak with such arrogant disrespect in the presence of the throne.

Instead, Krave simply laughed.

The bright, ringing sound of the divine kraken’s genuine amusement shattered the rigid, worshipful tension of the courtyard. The maids blinked, entirely unaccustomed to hearing their ancient, terrifying queen express such casual, unburdened joy.

“El, please prepare the Sapphire Suite for our highly demanding companion.”

Krave instructed, wiping a small tear of mirth from the corner of her eye.

“Ensure the bedding is constructed from crushed velvet-kelp. The wolf prefers her comforts heavily insulated.”

Krave added, waving her hand dismissively.

“At once, Sovereign.”

El bowed quickly, gesturing for two of the Imperial-level attendants to hurry up the stairs and prepare the chambers.

“Let me show you the rest of the palace, Austin.”

Krave smiled, stepping close to me and gently linking her arm through mine.

The physical contact sent another massive, completely undisguised shockwave of bewilderment through the ranks of the maids. For an entity who had spent millennia untouched in the freezing dark, the casual, deeply intimate way she held my arm was a profound revelation to her staff.

“I would be delighted.”

I murmured softly, looking down at the beautiful, ancient queen currently resting her weight against my side.

We began our ascent up the towering pearl staircase, leaving the thousands of stunned, incredibly powerful attendants kneeling in the courtyard below. The heavy, chaotic noise of the mortal empires was entirely gone, replaced by the serene, majestic silence of a kingdom untouched by time. As we walked through the massive, dark crystal archways of the Sunken Throne, I realized that the true adventure of the deep ocean had absolutely nothing to do with fighting leviathans or robbing banks.

It was simply being here, walking through the quiet dark, keeping the lonely god company.
