The Conquerors Path

Chapter 893  Chapter 891-Time To Go High.

A day passed quickly in this huge place. I might add that I was treated very well. They gave me the best food, treatment, dressing, and all other facilities—the best of the best were at my fingertips. Thus, a day passed like that, with me avoiding my sistersʼ calls and planning for the future ahead of me.

From what I could pick up, Valris still seems to be in her crazy planning phase, having left word to her brother, the king, that she wants me to stay here for some time to study me, give me good benefits, and get me on their side before giving me the full details about the situation regarding Nathalia.

Meanwhile, Lyssandra seems to be stuck in her own planning loop, which she seems to have completed—one which she will implement today itself. As for the queen, Eleanora, things are a bit more settled. She didnʼt go forth to tell the king that I have already found out about the reason I am here. Her goodwill for me is keeping those small secrets at bay.

Meanwhile, she seems to have gotten me a present, and it seems she has an idea of wanting to meet me today itself. A lot of different plans are running around in this huge place, and I have kept myself at the middle of it all. Last night, I laid down the groundwork for the newly arriving guy, and I will also have to be there when he touches down.

”This is good...”

I mused as I took a sip of the drink, its taste filling my mouth with a chocolate-like flavor and, at the same time, a hint of bitterness that enhances the taste of the sweet. As a fellow cook and caterer myself, I have to say this drink was created with a very well-handled and accomplished touch.

Getting the best treatment aside, I could see the fact that the crown prince of this palace isnʼt quite well taken with the fact that I am staying like this. He doesnʼt seem to think much of me. From his point of view, my treatment seems excessive for my kind of status, though there is more to the hidden fact of him not liking me spending a lot of time with Valris.

This dude has a very huge admiration for his aunt—someone who has risen to such a level of power. He relies on getting her attention and making himself seen as the apple of Valrisʼs eye, which I donʼt mind. I am also letting that guy be for now too—that is, until he tries to do anything against me.

In that case, all bets are off, and I will teach him a small ”lesson.”

”Um... it seems the dude has a fiancée...”

I shook my head at that thought. I havenʼt fallen that low in my life. At most, I would just show him a real sense of reality. Why go that hard on someone who isnʼt even your mortal enemy? Such childish reactions, in a sense, are a bit amusing to me. The guy has grown so much and would go on to rule the whole damn place, yet he still has such childish jealousy.

Which I find quite funny. Thus, I will let him play around. Also, he has some natural distaste for me due to taking away his adorable little sister. The crown prince is staying back because he believes nothing will come of it and that those things would be dealt with within this meeting itself, which still doesnʼt deal with the fact that he doesnʼt like me at all.

Swiping away the page of the book in front of me, I took a small drink and placed the cup back on the table, my legs crossed over each other as I enjoyed this little lazy time. Meanwhile, my brain worked at super speed, marking different plans. According to the report from Tron, it seems the hidden members of the war council have slowly started to make their move.

The tensions have now gone sky-high between all of them, and an all-out battle, in a sense, is imminent. Not to mention, it seems some attacks have started against my faction, and in the time I have been gone, a certain powerful one among the hidden forces has challenged me to battle—his calling being quite the tricky one.

But whatʼs fun about it is the fact that he didnʼt call me out for a normal battle. No, this guy wants me to battle him on his own customs, made of his tribe—a very unique one at that. His people are also trying to put the pressure on my faction too, with certain aspects of a sense of calm everywhere now having faded away.

I flipped the page of the book as my mind ran through the scenarios that Tron spoke to me about, while at the same time reading the book. From everything I gathered, things arenʼt looking all too well at all. Not to mention those ones willing to play dirty—who have been held back till now by Girika—have also started to interact with this situation too.

”Um... lots of problems, indeed.”

As I chimed in that thought, I felt a presence outside the door, a polite knock being heard as a voice asked out.

”Sir?”

”You may enter.”

I replied, and as the door opened, a maid walked in, her presence and poise being well established as she gave me a light bow.

”I have a very distinguished person wanting to meet you.”

The maid spoke with a respectful tone, so placing the book down, I looked at her with a raised eyebrow as I asked,

”And who might that be?”

”The mother of the current king.”

The words brought a certain surprised expression to my face as I looked at the maid and spoke.

”Such a person wants to meet me?”

”The master seems quite interested in you.”

The maid replied, to which, after a thoughtful look, I nodded my head as I replied,

”Sure, lead the way. I would certainly love to meet such a legend of the past.”

The maid gave me a courtesy bow at my words as she asked me to follow her. Thus, I stood up, making myself a bit presentable as I followed after the maid. She walked forth with light steps until she took me in front of a well-decorated door, its design shining with the hole for a single key. I looked at it with confusion, to which the maid replied,

”The whole of the palace is divided into sectors, and it isnʼt easy to move around in such a large place with a small amount of time. So, several rooms are created, which are connected with spatial magic to allow movement between such great distances of sectors.”

”Oh... that sounds like a lot of money.”

I replied, to which, with a smile, the maid inserted the key into the door, making the whole door vanish and creating a transportation point. She turned to look at me as she spoke,

”And money is one thing we donʼt lack too, just like the levels.”

I smiled at her words as she passed through the portal. I soon followed after her as the two of us arrived in a rather large hallway, to which the maid, waiting for me, spoke.

”This way.”

With that, I started to follow after the maid, the two of us walking through the whole place as I watched several different maids move around, their dressing style matching the one the maid in front of me was wearing but with subtle differences from the style I saw being worn by the maids of the sector I was in.

”A lot of different cultures in this place.”

I spoke, to which the maid replied,

”The master is one of the most decorated rulers in the whole of our history. Achieving such high power, prestige, and might has placed her in a unique position to hold power even when she has retired.”

I nodded at her words, walking through the place, taking in the eyes of the workers whose eyes widened when they saw me, as I replied,

”I have heard stories about her—some legends, even. The history she created perhaps has even changed the course of life for the dwarven lineage.”

The maid smiled happily at my words as I took in the different designs, paintings, and sculptures kept all around, showing off the beauty and taste of the person that lives here. Soon, I reached in front of a huge door, where two maids stood in attendance. Upon seeing me and the maid, the maid gave a nod, to which the other two started to open the door.

With a soft touch, the door opened up, blasting certain light from the room into my eyes as the maid beside me spoke.

”From here on out, itʼs all you, sir.”

Giving a small nod in reply, I entered the room, greeting me being a huge room, with amazing designs. I could feel the literal wealth blasting off the place, gold, diamonds, mitheral, and all other things that distanced a powerful presence filling up the place, pressing great pressure all over me.
