Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 945: Two Devils

”Big news!” A middle-aged man entered the hall where the king and his ministers held a meeting.

Zack hurriedly stopped him, asking out loud, ”Whatʼs wrong?”

”Iʼve got the news directly from Duke Coline Tash.”

”!!!” The people looked surprised. Duke Coline was their world class summoner, so his news should be important. Even if he didnʼt tell them as a world class summoner, his position as a duke was not something to be trifled with.

The king couldnʼt help but stand up, asking personally, ”Whatʼs the news?”

”Reporting to His Majesty. Count Ashton has been rescued from the depths of the alien territory. He has recovered and returned to the Ashton family.”

”!!!” The king widened his eyes in surprise. He had heard about Nathanʼs group heading to the alien territory to save him, so the fact this news reached his ears meant they had succeeded. Instead of Count Ashton, Julius was more concerned about another thing. ”Whatʼs the condition of the group?”

That was right. In the end, Flora was still his daughter. He was still concerned about her well-being.

The middle-aged man smiled. ”Nothing went wrong. The group returned safely.”

The king immediately let out a breath of relief. Nathan had definitely done a great job.

”Count Ashton, huh?”

”Hasnʼt he been away for 12 years?”

”Yeah. But if weʼre talking about Count Ashton… isnʼt he a brutal guy?”

”I know, right? Behind his gentle face hides his cold, true nature.”

”Still, Count Ashton is considered to be an arcane level summoner with the new classifications, so having another summoner of this rank will be a good addition to our fighting strength.”

”Indeed. The situation is not very stable right now, so we need all the hands we can get.”

After listening to his ministersʼ murmurs, the king stated out loud, ”Thereʼs no need to talk behind a personʼs back. All we need to know is that he has returned and will be a good addition to us. Immediately reinstate his position as the Count. Now, that rank has finally returned to its rightful owner.”

”Yes, sir!” The ministers could only end their discussions.

Despite his decision, Julius was slightly worried, like the ministers. He couldnʼt help but mutter inwardly, ʼStill, that devil child has returned, huh? I just hope he doesnʼt kill a lot of people this time…ʼ

…

He did kill 47 people before returning to the Ashton family. Those 47 people were his second wifeʼs entire family, making sure there wasnʼt any seed of revenge in the future.

And once he returned, he took the 48th life.

The people couldnʼt help but drop their jaws to the ground. Even though there were some frictions between them, Count Ashton wasnʼt supposed to kill an elder.

After all, if he became a true dictator, the family wouldnʼt trust him anymore. If Count Ashton didnʼt have any explanation, he would be in a lot of trouble.

There were three reasons for Count Ashton to kill this person. The first one was a grudge. He was the most vocal person who forced him to marry another woman, which became the cause of Selenaʼs suffering and his wifeʼs death.

The second reason was because Count Ashton needed a sacrifice to convince the family members. If they knew that Count Ashton was going to uphold the rule even if it meant killing the elder, that meant the female summoners in this family were finally freed from their suppression.

The last reason was something he wished to state personally.

”Count! What have you done…” One elder stood up.

The others were still too shocked because no one thought Count Ashton would be killing an elder.

Count Ashton stood up while stating, ”Our Ashton family has become weak in the past decade… Isnʼt our tradition the cause of our familyʼs decline?

”I merely execute a traitor who wishes to maintain this weakness. He is a fool who canʼt even acknowledge the truth when thereʼs an irrefutable truth right before his eyes. If he remains, the Ashton family might be reduced to a mere barony in the next few years.”

”But still, you shouldnʼt kill him!” Even the elders who supported his decision earlier couldnʼt help but voice their concern.

However, Count Ashtonʼs expression remained cold. He, or more like, Nathan, had prepared a weapon for this one death.

Although Nathan had agreed to let Selena take her own revenge against her uncle, he never agreed to not do anything to her ʼfamily.ʼ

And finally, Nathan found a perfect person to exact that revenge.

That was why when Count Ashton returned after killing the first target to bring Selena back to the family, Nathan took out ten vials.

”Hmm? What are you doing?” Count Ashton furrowed his eyebrows.

Nathan smiled. ”If there is a dowry, I, as her partner, should also provide a bride price. I hope Uncle wonʼt mind if I send these ten vials for the bride price.”

”Vials? Theyʼre blood… Arenʼt they?” Count Ashton asked.

”Yes.”

Count Ashton would accept it no matter what blood it was, but Nathan had revenge in mind, so he added, ”Of course, if you donʼt mind, please summon Sir Dracula here to inspect the blood.”

”Hmm?” Count Ashton was confused but still summoned Dracula.

”This blood…” Dracula looked surprised, as if he noticed the true worth of this blood.

This was Nathanʼs blood. It could evolve a vampire. Even a vampire progenitor would desire such a thing. A vampire might need a lot of this blood to evolve, but in the Ashton familyʼs eyes, the worth of this vial might be much more than evolving a vampire. A single small vial like this would allow them to summon a progenitor, so ten of them could allow them to summon a progenitor for ten generations, ensuring their prosperity.

Nathan simply asked, ”If a female summoned you by using this blood, would you accept?”

”!!!” Count Ashton didnʼt expect such a question, but the answer was even more shocking.

”Yes. This blood is simply too precious… What kind of blood is this?”

Unlike Lilith, Dracula didnʼt know because he didnʼt get summoned by Nathanʼs blood, so he could only trace the karma in it, not the origin of the blood.

Nathan could only shake his head before turning back to Count Ashton. ”Itʼs not much as a bride price, but I hope that the Count likes them. Itʼs just… if you donʼt mind, I have one little request.”

”Hmm?” Count Ashton couldnʼt speak because he was still too shocked by the value of that blood.

Nathan smiled. ”If you donʼt mind, please use one vial right away to ʼconvinceʼ your family.”

”!!!” Count Ashton widened his eyes in shock. He realized Nathanʼs true nature was the same as his. It was at this moment he knew Nathan was someone he definitely could get along with.
