Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 920: Everything

That night.

Selena was sleeping in his arms, hugging him tightly as if she didnʼt want to let him go. For some reason, Sera or Flora didnʼt even bother coming to see him.

”What are you doing? Are you getting nervous that youʼre going to meet your father soon?” Nathan smiled.

Selena looked at his face without any change of expression before burying her face in his chest.

How could she say she overheard everything about Nathanʼs plan? She originally wanted to check on him since Risa had gone back after sucking his blood. She didnʼt expect she would hear him planning such a dangerous thing for her.

She first felt shocked, but that shock soon turned into shame. Nathan had done a lot for her.

He first pulled her away from that isolated room, shed light on her path, and gave her warmth. That was why she could become stronger. Even Leyfon was interested in her because of him.

Her talent could bloom because of the environment he provided. Nathan showed a future that she couldnʼt consider before.

Whether it was her victory against her brother or her growth surpassing her uncleʼs prediction, which allowed her to kill him, everything came from him.

And after all those things, Nathan had put in so much effort to get the information about her father and even formed a rescue team.

Yet she couldnʼt do anything.

ʼScrew getting stronger.ʼ

ʼNot wanting to become an accessory to show how strong their husband is? Itʼs a joke.ʼ

ʼWeak. Very weak.ʼ

All kinds of thoughts appeared in her mind. She had been helped the whole time. She could only achieve all this because Nathan gave it to her. It felt like she took everything for granted.

Despite wanting to help him, she could only burden him again and again.

She hated herself because, despite all his sacrifices, she couldnʼt stop him. It was fine for her not to meet her father.

That was why the burden of knowing this plan felt so heavy. It was suffocating. The pain in her heart was different from how she felt when her uncle isolated her. This pain came from her hopelessness.

She didnʼt answer Nathanʼs question because she didnʼt want to burden him anymore.

Nathan didnʼt know her thoughts. He just deemed Selena to be nervous. After all, her grand plan was to rescue her father during her third year and change her fate. Meanwhile, they were about to succeed, even though it hadnʼt been a year since she first met him.

Nathan smiled while looking at the ceiling.

The desire to help oneʼs father—it was something unknown to him. The only thing he could recall from his father was how he beat him again and again. The pain, the hunger, the hopelessness… everything was vivid in his mind.

Helping Selenaʼs father, for him, was like something he wanted to do, albeit impossible. He wished he had a father that cherished him. He could only escape from that painful reality by using Count Ashton.

While he was in deep thought, Selena experienced the same thing. Her body started shaking, and she clutched his shirt tightly.

”Whatʼs wrong?” Nathan asked in a gentle voice.

Selenaʼs body shook, then froze. She remained silent for a minute before an answer leaked out of her mouth.

”I feel like… I have been taking everything for granted. You have done so much for me, yet I…” Selena bit her lips. ”…I canʼt do anything for you.”

Nathan looked surprised at first but turned to smile a few seconds later. ”You canʼt do anything, huh?”

It was probably because of the life-and-death battle, the already more mature mind Nathan possessed on Earth became even wiser.

He put his hand on the back of her head while saying in an assuring tone, ”Youʼre probably the only one thinking like that.

”I am… alone in this world.”

”!!!” Selena was startled. For Nathan, he was alone because he came from Earth. For Selena, she thought Nathan was alone due to his identity as a unique summoner.

”I want to enjoy the world, but I fear I will end up getting disappointed. I want to become strong, but I donʼt know if I have the strength to work hard…”

He wanted to enjoy the world, a fantasy that always appeared in his mind when reading the novels. He wanted to create a harem, a dream that kept him from being lonely every single night. He wished to grow strong to be able to achieve his goal, but he had limited resources, whether it was education or upbringing.

”Iʼm just a desperate person… someone who likes anybody else, but at the same time, is different. However, that changes after you appear in my life.

”You give me the reason to grow stronger, you show me that my goal is not just a dream, and your strength allows me to go beyond my limit.

”I wonʼt be able to grow this fast if I donʼt have you as my rival, I might crumble along the way if you donʼt accompany me as my friend, I wonʼt know the joy of this world without you supporting me as my lover.

”You think you havenʼt done anything, but for me, you have changed me… You are my beginning. If you feel useless, just tell me about it, and I will tell you one hundred reasons why you are useful.

”You have been helping me, so…” If Selena thought she took everything for granted, Nathan showed that Selena had been his everything by saying, ”…please continue taking care of me, Selena.”

Selena opened her mouth, but the words stuck in her throat. It felt like her tears were about to come out.

Those cheeky words struck deep in her heart as they carried Nathanʼs genuine feeling.

She bit her lip. She felt like cursing, not because she was angry, but because she knew she couldnʼt win against him. Every single time, he made her drown harder and harder in this sweet, intoxicating liquid called love.

She swore that she would help him achieve his goal. Even if everyone left him, she would be standing beside him, even if she had to drag herself from the underworld. There was no way she could leave him alone in this world.
