Not Being a Trainer This Time

Accompanied by a flash of white light, a yellow-beaked Pokemon covered in brown-gray feathers appeared in front of Naoki.

It held a long leek in its hand, with its chest and abdomen covered by a layer of milky-white duck down, and had yellow feet.

Three strands of hair stood upright on its head, and a black ”V”-shaped marking on its forehead made its expression look exceptionally resolute.

This is... Farfetch’d?!

Naoki widened his eyes in disbelief.

His mind immediately recalled the Farfetch’d that gave a bundle of leeks to Mew and Teddiursa last year.

Could it be that one?

The Farfetch’d in front hugged the leek, lifted its head, and looked at him.

Naoki: ”Hi? Hello?”

The Farfetch’d solemnly nodded its head: ”Quack!”

Naoki was amazed.

Whoa! This Farfetch’d has style!

”Are you friends with Teddiursa and Mew?” Naoki asked. ”Were you also invited to live at the ranch by them?”

”Quack?”

The Farfetch’d was taken aback, shook its head, and then vigorously waved the leek in its hand.

Naoki didn’t understand and could only cast a pleading look at Calyrex on the sofa.

He invited the Farfetch’d to sit on the sofa first.

With Calyrex’s help in translation, Naoki finally understood the intent of this Farfetch’d.

Turns out, it wasn’t the Farfetch’d that sent a bundle of Big Roots to the ranch but another Farfetch’d that Teddiursa and Mew encountered during their journey.

The Farfetch’d said it had always lived in a dense forest, diligently training beside a waterfall, continuously practicing the technique of Cut, attempting to sever the waterfall, and pursuing the ultimate path of the leek.

Unfortunately, its training had reached a bottleneck, unable to progress further.

Five days ago, it met the Heroic Expedition Team.

The Heroic Expedition Team discovered it sitting on the waterfall with a troubled expression.

With kindness, Mew and Teddiursa asked why it was so unhappy.

The Farfetch’d shared its troubles with them.

”Quack.” (My training has reached a bottleneck; no matter what I do, I can’t take the next step. I don’t know how to continue.)

After hearing this, Mew and Teddiursa asked the Farfetch’d some more questions and told it the story of the Heroic Expedition Team.

The Farfetch’d was extremely impressed by their deeds of accumulating virtue and helping countless weak ones.

The Pokemon celebrated over drinks (Berries), and amidst the festivities, Mew and Teddiursa pointed out a path for it.

That was to go to a place called Naoki Ranch, where someone would help it hone its skills.

So, the Farfetch’d came to refine the techniques of the leek to the extreme, so it could cut through the waterfall.

After hearing the Farfetch’d’s story, Naoki exchanged glances with Calyrex.

”Cut through the waterfall?” he asked in shock.

Just relying on that leek?

Seeing the human in front of it doubt its abilities, the gaze of the Farfetch’d grew sharp.

It placed its right wing on the leek’s stem and, with lightning speed, made its move.

Naoki only saw a flash of white light, and a glass cup on the coffee table was split in half from the middle.

The cut was finely smooth, a testament to the skill of the one who executed the move.

Naoki was taken aback.

What move was that? Cut or Iaido Slash? So impressive!

The Farfetch’d calmly sheathed the leek back: ”Quack.” (It’s just that I still can’t achieve that feat yet.)

Naoki came to his senses: ”So, you’re here at the ranch to train?”

The Farfetch’d nodded: ”Quack!”

Naoki, a bit confused, scratched his head: ”But you already seem very skilled! I’ve never been involved in this sort of thing, so I don’t know how to help you train in sword techniques…”

If it were a Farfetch’d that knew nothing, it’d be easier to say...

The Farfetch’d immediately showed a look of disappointment.

Seeing this, not wanting to betray the trust of Mew and Teddiursa, Naoki thought for a moment and then said:

”However, I can give it a try. Could you show me all the moves you currently know?”

The Farfetch’d nodded.

A human and a Pokemon came outside.

Then, the Farfetch’d began demonstrating the sword techniques it had mastered.

Cut, Iaido Slash, Aerial Ace, Fury Cutter.

When the Farfetch’d stopped, Naoki was stunned on the spot: ”Just these? No more?”

Farfetch’d: ”Quack!”

Naoki was even more baffled: ”Do you know Sand Attack?”

The Farfetch’d shook its head.

”Leer?”

The Farfetch’d continued to shake its head.

”Peck?”

The Farfetch’d continued to shake its head.

Naoki was shocked: ”Then you’re quite unbalanced in your skills!”

The Farfetch’d, however, felt that these were enough. Using Sand Attack or trying to Peck an opponent with its beak during battles wasn’t in keeping with a swordsman’s demeanor.

The Farfetch’d stood there gazing at Naoki, waiting for his response.

If this place couldn’t help it further enhance its abilities, then it would have no choice but to leave and train alone in the wild.

Naoki also observed the Farfetch’d.

A Farfetch’d that only knew four moves… It seemed the Farfetch’d was eager to train in Slash and swordsmanship moves; other moves were clearly not within its consideration.

When it came to slash moves and swordsmanship moves, an array of techniques floated through Naoki’s mind:

The Air Blade, said to be able to even cleave the sky,

The Night Slash, which could easily hit vital points,

The Bitter Blade imbued with the user’s longing for the world.

Above those would be some exclusive moves of Legendary Pokemon.
