Not Being a Trainer This Time

Chapter 579: Chapter 324: New Memories, Sudden Upheaval

Naoki and Ogerpon rode down the mountain on Koraidon, and as they were about to reach Mossui Town, fear suddenly appeared on Ogerpon’s face.

”Pony...”

”Ah gah ss?”

Koraidon glanced back and then landed outside the town, turning with Naoki to look at the frightened Ogerpon.

”What’s wrong?” Naoki asked, puzzled, but quickly realized that Ogerpon might be afraid of going into town due to previous exclusion by the townspeople.

”Do you not want to go in?” Naoki asked.

”Pony...” Ogerpon nodded gently.

Just at that moment, a villager carrying a hoe passed by.

Ogerpon hurriedly put on a mask and hid behind Naoki.

The villager glanced over, recognizing Naoki as a farmer from outside, visiting Kitakami.

He waved with a smile and greeted them: ”Good afternoon! Have you had lunch?”

”Not yet,” Naoki replied politely. ”I toured around outside, and now I’m about to head back.”

The villager nodded with a smile and left carrying his hoe.

Koraidon lowered its head helplessly: ”Ah gah ss...”

”Don’t be afraid,” Naoki turned to Ogerpon and thought carefully before asking, ”It was the descendant of the village’s mask artisan who told me about your situation. His ancestor wanted to reveal the truth to other villagers but was persecuted to death by them.”

”Pony...” Ogerpon showed hesitation, touching the mask on its face, recalling the human artisan who made those masks for it.

”That artisan’s descendant has been very concerned about you and feels deeply sorry. Would you like to meet him with me?” Naoki asked.

Fearing Ogerpon might be scared, Naoki comforted it further: ”Don’t worry, no one will harm you this time. Both I and Koraidon will stand by your side.”

”Ah gah ss!” Koraidon agreed loudly.

Ogerpon looked up at them and couldn’t help but show emotion.

After hesitating, it finally mustered the courage to nod gently.

Naoki reached out to pat Ogerpon’s head, then turned to the town, noticing there was still some distance to Kieran’s home, and they might encounter several villagers along the way.

Ogerpon could be very scared then.

Thinking briefly, Naoki took out an empty Poke Ball: ”If you’re scared, you can come inside here first!”

Ogerpon almost immediately ran into the Poke Ball.

The red and white Poke Ball gently shook twice before settling down completely.

This signified success in capture.

However, unlike the feelings when capturing Dragonite and the others before, even knowing this Pokemon might be a Legendary Pokemon, Naoki couldn’t feel happy at all.

Because Ogerpon was simply too pitiable.

It’s the most pitiful Pokemon apart from Calyrex, and in some sense, even more tragic than Calyrex.

”Once back to the ranch, I’ll have Alcremie and the others take good care of Ogerpon and play with it,” Naoki thought silently.

He sighed quietly, put away the Poke Ball, and then entered the town with Koraidon, indeed encountering many villagers who greeted him along the way.

Naoki responded to each, and soon, he arrived at Kieran’s home.

Kieran’s grandfather Yukito was feeding a Poliwag by the Magikarp Fountain when he saw Naoki coming and quickly stood up to ask, ”Have you seen Ogerpon?”

Naoki nodded, then took out Ogerpon’s Poke Ball and released it.

At the moment of seeing Ogerpon, Yukito widened his eyes and hastily closed the courtyard gate, pushing Naoki and the two Pokemon inside.

Preparing lunch, Yukiko saw this scene and showed a shocked expression, dropping the iron basin in her hand onto the floor with a clang.

On the sofa watching TV, Kieran and Carmine quickly stood up.

Carmine, shocked, covered her mouth with her hand, while Kieran stared blankly at Ogerpon.

Although he hadn’t seen it personally, the masked figure seemed so familiar!

Carmine asked in disbelief, ”That Pokemon is...”

Naoki glanced at Ogerpon hiding behind him and introduced, ”This is Ogerpon.”

Kieran felt incredibly excited at that moment.

He always liked Ogerpon because it was so strong, defeating the Loyal Three by itself, which was really cool!

And after learning about Ogerpon’s truth from his grandfather, he liked it even more.

Beside him, Yukito, having confirmed the doors and windows were shut tight, was finally moved to tears, looking at Ogerpon and murmuring, ”That’s great... That’s great...”

”Pony?” Ogerpon remained timid as it cautiously looked at the unfamiliar humans in front of it.

Naoki introduced, ”This is the descendant of the artisan who made masks for you. These two are his grandson and granddaughter.”

In continuation, Naoki looked at Yukito and said, ”Ogerpon is willing to leave with me. I plan to take it away to my hometown once the exchange event ends in a few days.”

”Good, good, I’ll entrust everything to you then!” Yukito felt a huge stone had fallen from his heart.

Sitting relieved on the sofa, he quickly bounced up as if sitting on a spring: ”Oh right, there’s one more thing!”
