My Talent Skill Mutated

After a moment, Chen Yu came to his senses and calmed his mind.

Now that his strength had increased, obtaining the Source of Life wouldn’t be too difficult.

A single top-tier exotic beast would provide a considerable amount of Source of Life.

By his calculations, fifty or sixty Level 5 exotic beasts would be enough for another Evolution.

The thought put him more at ease.

The problem was whether he could even find that many exotic beasts to deal with at once.

Beast tides didn’t just appear on command.

And the exotic beasts wouldn’t just line up to be killed.

Still, the world was vast. There were plenty of exotic beasts on the Ancestor Star, and if not there, then there were plenty in the Abyssal Realms.

It was only a matter of time.

Gazing at the interface, Chen Yu turned his attention to the Divine Speed Power. Upgrading the Skill required nine thousand points of Source of Life.

For him, this was just a drop in the bucket.

Without hesitation, Chen Yu chose to upgrade it.

Nine thousand points of Source of Life were consumed.

A tremor ran through his body, and the glow of the purple ball of light grew even more intense.

The Skill upgrade process was quick, finishing in just a few seconds. The Divine Speed Power was now at the Middle Level.

As expected, the cost had multiplied by ten again. Upgrading it to the High Level would require ninety thousand points of Source of Life!

’Continue.’

At his command, ninety thousand points of Source of Life were consumed to upgrade the Divine Speed Power again.

Within the Chaos of his inner world, the purple ball of light’s brilliance leaped into first place.

It had reached the High Level!

’Nine hundred thousand...’

Chen Yu’s eyelid twitched as he looked at the Source of Life required for the next upgrade.

’Multiplying by ten every time... a few million Source of Life won’t last long at this rate!’

’The Spirit Devouring Skill is at the Perfected stage. I’ll take it to the Limit first.’

After a moment of thought, Chen Yu chose to upgrade the Spirit Devouring Skill.

199,490 points of Source of Life vanished in an instant.

A resonant hum sounded from within his body, and a profound sensation washed over him.

HUMMM—!

This time, the process lasted a full minute before ending.

Chen Yu opened his eyes.

Skill: Spirit Devouring (MAX)

[Congratulations! Skill upgraded to max level. Obtained Skill Points x1.]

A line of faint text appeared before his eyes.

?

’Skill Points?’

’What are these?!’

Startled, Chen Yu summoned the interface to check.

A new option had appeared beneath the Source of Life entry.

Skill Points: 1 (Skill Points are obtained by upgrading a Skill to its max level. The higher the Skill’s stage, the more Skill Points are awarded. They can be used for Skill Awakening to break a Skill’s limit. Note: Skill Points can only be used to awaken a max-level Skill. Not all Skills can be awakened. Most Skills can only be awakened once; a very small number can undergo a second Awakening!)

’Skill Awakening...’

’It can be used like this?’ Chen Yu was utterly shocked.

Looking at the interface, his gaze fell upon the Spirit Devouring Skill.

He checked the Skill’s details, and a line of text appeared before his eyes.

Skill: Spirit Devouring (MAX). Already at max level. This Skill is not eligible for Awakening. It can be shattered to randomly obtain a corresponding number of Skill Points. (Note: Once a Skill is shattered, it will disappear completely.)

Chen Yu stared blankly at the details for the Spirit Devouring Skill.

This upgrade was truly incredible.

This system of his wasn’t as simple as he’d thought; it had deeper mechanics.

Maxing out a Skill unlocked the Skill Awakening option, with most Skills being able to awaken once, and some even twice. Furthermore, he could shatter Skills to turn them into Skill Points.

He had never expected such a change!

The Spirit Devouring Skill’s only function was to restore Qi; it had no other use, making it his weakest ability.

Now that he was cultivating the Celestial Destiny Skill, although its recovery rate was nowhere near as fast as the Spirit Devouring Skill, it was still far superior to ordinary cultivation recovery methods.

So, this Skill wasn’t all that useful to him anymore.

Chen Yu stared at the Skill’s details, contemplating for a long time.

’If it’s useless, so be it. Once the Celestial Destiny Skill breaks through to Level 2, its recovery speed will increase anyway.’

After a moment of deliberation, Chen Yu made his decision. Shatter the Skill!

The thought flashed through his mind, and in the next instant, a line of red text appeared before his eyes.

[Are you sure you want to shatter the Skill—Spirit Devouring?!]

The text glowed with a warning red light. Chen Yu silently confirmed his choice.

In the next instant, he felt a tremor inside him. The cyan ball of light representing the Spirit Devouring Skill shattered and vanished completely.

At the same time, a line of text appeared before his eyes.

[Skill shatter successful—Obtained Skill Points x2]

”...”

’Only two points?’

’That’s it?!’

Chen Yu stared at the text in disbelief. Shattering the Spirit Devouring Skill only gave him two Skill Points. The amount was pathetically small.

’Two points... a pittance for a beggar...’

After a long silence, Chen Yu exhaled and composed himself.

Looking at the interface, he saw that the Spirit Devouring Skill was completely gone. He had four Skills left!

Frost Breath, Biological Force Field, God’s Will, and the newly acquired Divine Speed Power!

Gazing at the interface, Chen Yu chose to upgrade Frost Breath.

99,947 points of Source of Life were instantly consumed.

A tremor ran through him. Within the Chaos, a red ball of light blossomed, its brilliance rapidly intensifying until it was utterly dazzling!

Soon, Frost Breath was upgraded to the Perfected stage.

’Two million...’

Chen Yu’s expression tightened as he looked at the details for the Frost Breath Skill.

The cost was even greater than he had anticipated.

Going from the Perfected stage to the Limit stage was a twenty-fold increase!

Looking at his remaining Source of Life, Chen Yu pondered for a moment.

He then chose to upgrade the Biological Force Field.

99,995 points of Source of Life were consumed. The Biological Force Field was upgraded, reaching the High Level.

With a thought, his Force Field sense spread out, and the situation in the entire hospital was instantly laid bare before him.

Having been upgraded to the High Level, the Biological Force Field’s senses were incredibly clear.

Its range had expanded immensely!
