——

The three of them huddled in front of the terminal, carefully browsing through each mission’s details.

The missions displayed were of all sorts, and each was marked with a difficulty level and the number of academic credits awarded.

They had everything from D-rank to A-rank missions.

For now, the three of them weren’t considering any missions ranked B or higher. Without the strength of a Level 5 or Level 6 Martial Artist, they would be incredibly difficult to complete. Taking one on would be no different from a suicide mission.

”There are so many missions...”

Chen Yu sighed internally as he scrolled through the mission details.

The mission list refreshed constantly, a dizzying array of tasks flashing before their eyes.

Although the missions ranked B and above offered a lot of academic credits, they could only look. They didn’t have the strength for them.

”Crane City Mutated Beast Cleanup...”

While browsing the missions, Chen Yu suddenly noticed a particular entry.

It was a mission in the Crane City Safety Zone.

The Crane City Safety Zone—his former home.

”Let’s take a look at the details for this one,” Chen Yu said, pointing to the Crane City Mutated Beast Cleanup mission.

The other two didn’t object, and they clicked to open the mission details.

[Crane City Mutated Beast Cleanup, C-rank. Clear out the mutated beasts within Crane City’s main urban district. Mission objective: Kill no fewer than ten Level 4 mutated beasts. Recommended for a three-person team of Level 4s...]

”C-rank...”

Chen Yu’s eyes lit up as he looked at the information for the Crane City Safety Zone mission.

This mission was worth at least 1,500 academic credits.

That was quite a lot.

C-rank missions were usually worth a few hundred to a thousand credits; one offering over a thousand was uncommon.

”You want to take this mission?” An Ran asked, looking at Chen Yu.

Baili Qing also looked at him.

Chen Yu nodded. ”Yeah, let’s give it a try. Besides, I can visit my old home.”

”Aren’t you from Qing City?” Baili Qing asked, looking at Chen Yu in surprise.

Chen Yu replied, ”My hometown is Crane City. I escaped to the Qing City Safety Zone and was eventually recommended to come here by a Mercenary Team.”

”I see...” Baili Qing nodded.

An Ran looked at Baili Qing. ”This mission offers a lot of credits. What do you think?”

Baili Qing said, ”No problem. We can do it.”

”Alright then, let’s go with this one. Brother Yu, you can accept it,” An Ran said.

Chen Yu nodded, then took out his student card and swiped it. He clicked on the Crane City Mutated Beast Cleanup mission and selected ”Accept.”

Once he accepted it, new information appeared on his student card.

It showed the mission details, as well as the time limit.

A one-month time limit!

For Chen Yu and the others, that was more than enough time.

”What rank mission did you accept?”

As they walked out of the mission building, Xu Feng came over and asked.

”A C-rank mission,” An Ran replied.

”C-rank...” Xu Feng’s brow furrowed slightly.

Although he didn’t ask for the specific details, he could infer a few things from the mission’s rank.

For them, a C-rank mission would likely not be easy.

But after considering their capability data, he didn’t say anything more.

He wouldn’t interfere with how the students completed their missions; his only job was to ensure their safety.

The difficulty of a C-rank mission shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

”Where’s the mission location?” Xu Feng asked, his brow relaxing as he looked at the three of them.

Chen Yu answered, ”Crane City.”

”Crane City...” Xu Feng pondered for a moment, then his eyes widened as he realized something. ”You mean the Crane City Safety Zone that was overrun by a beast tide a month or two ago?”

”Yes,” Chen Yu nodded.

!!!

Xu Feng’s expression changed drastically.

A city that had been hit by a beast tide... Even if most of the mutated beasts were gone, there was still a high chance of encountering powerful ones.

’These kids are like newborn calves that don’t fear tigers!’

”Brother Xu, is there a problem?” An Ran asked, blinking as she noticed his grim expression.

Xu Feng: ”...”

’Is there a problem?’

’Of course there’s a problem! A huge one!’

But they had already accepted the mission, and it was impossible to back out now.

”...It’s nothing. When do you plan to set out?” Xu Feng asked after a moment of silence.

”Tomorrow, probably. We’ll rest today and leave first thing in the morning,” Chen Yu said.

Xu Feng nodded. ”Alright. I’ll arrange the transport.”

The three had no objections.

Having a security officer arrange their travel would save them some time.

”Go back and get a good rest. Conserve your energy,” Xu Feng instructed.

The three nodded, and then they all left together.

After eating a meal at the academy’s cafeteria and discussing some of the details, the group returned to the dormitory area.

In his room, Chen Yu sat on the sofa and reviewed the mission specifics one more time.

”We have to succeed. We can’t afford to fail!”

Chen Yu put away his student card and sighed.

The mission was worth 1,500 academic credits, which was a very good amount. Split three ways, that was five hundred for each of them.

Of course, that was only if they completed it.

But if they failed, they would have to pay an equivalent price.

Each of them would have credits deducted, and failing a mission would place restrictions on them accepting high-level missions in the future.

This kind of situation wasn’t unheard of.

That’s why they had to complete their first mission. He didn’t want to start his mission career in debt.

Snapping back to reality, Chen Yu summoned his interface with a thought.

Name: Chen Yu

Talent: Infinite Physique (Tier Three 0/50000) [Unique Talent]

Skills: Spirit Devour (Perfection 500/200,000), Frost Breath (Advanced 50/100,000), Biological Force Field (Golden Legend Intermediate 5/100,000)

Source of Life: 42,190

’The higher the skill level, the slower the growth...’

Chen Yu sighed internally as he looked at the information on the interface.

In one month, his Biological Force Field skill had only increased by five points.

Compared to the progress he could make using the Source of Life, this growth rate was like the difference between heaven and earth.

Chen Yu felt that leveling up through normal training was a dead end; he had to rely on the Source of Life.

Training could only be a supplement.

After glancing at the interface, he closed it, shut his eyes, and began to cultivate by circulating the Celestial Destiny Skill.

After a month, his cultivation of the Celestial Destiny Skill was still stuck on the first layer.

However, it was much better than when he first started.

By cultivating the Celestial Destiny Skill and enhancing his Seed of Superpower, Chen Yu could feel the changes in his body.

First, his Qi had improved very quickly. He was on the verge of becoming a Third-level Martial Artist, which was an astonishing rate of progress.

Second, as his Seed of Superpower grew stronger, his physical body also became more powerful.

However, compared to his physical Evolution, this improvement wasn’t very noticeable.

The further one progressed in the Celestial Destiny Skill, the faster the improvement with each new layer.

Although it was slow for now, Chen Yu wouldn’t give up. Every little bit of progress counted.

Once he reached the second layer of the Celestial Destiny Skill, his skill progression should speed up considerably.

...

「The next morning.」

Chen Yu left his room early to meet up with An Ran and Baili Qing. Xu Feng had arranged a vehicle, and the three of them departed from the Superpower Academy.

This was the first time Chen Yu had left the Superpower Academy since enrolling.

He hadn’t strayed from campus during the new student period.

From now on, that would no longer be an issue.

After completing this first mission, Chen Yu also planned to go see Ma Xiang.

After leaving the Superpower Academy, the vehicle sped along and soon arrived at a military airfield in Jingzhou Base City.

Traveling by helicopter would be much faster.

They should be able to arrive in about a day.
