Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 732: Chapter 546: New Function

Buzz... buzz... buzz...

A series of buzzing sounds came, and a strange power surged in the room. Very soon, one by one, virtual figures condensed in the room.

The shadows looked somewhat blurry, a total of nine figures, including Black, White, and Yellow races, nine men and four women.

These nine were high-ranking officials from various countries, sent as representatives specifically responsible for establishing the rules of the King Becoming plan, and some reward and teaching segments.

At the moment they appeared, a huge light curtain manifested in the center of the room.

This was a large list composed of numerous avatars.

Some avatars appeared in color, some in gray, with gray approximately accounting for one-tenth of the total.

At the bottom, there was a line of text and numbers.

Number of participants: 2499 (students: 833 • assistants: 1666)

Number of deaths: 291 (students: 118 • assistants: 173)

Number of withdrawals: 34 (students: 11 • assistants: 23)

”291 people died in just twelve days; this death rate is too high, and we don’t yet know how many are injured.”

A middle-aged Black man stared at the list, with a hint of anger in his voice.

He spoke in his country’s language, but the others had translators, so communication was unhindered.

No wonder he was so angry.

It must be known that the participants in this tournament are all top-level Ninth Grade experts, all with the potential of becoming Kings.

In major countries, Kings are not uncommon; every important city would have more than ten Kings stationed.

But in some small and medium countries, the number of Kings is very limited, and some do not have even one.

Ninth Grade is the combat power limit of some small countries and is a crucial factor for a country’s survival.

If they die, that country may completely disappear from the world.

This death toll is 291.

Even in the Dawn War of the past, the death rate was not this high.

Among the 2499 participants, the death rate has already exceeded one-tenth.

The withdrawal count shows 34 people, but it’s certainly more because some are injured, while others are on the way to withdraw and have not yet been registered.

The only accurate figure is the number of deaths.

Upon receiving the student and assistant quotas, confirming qualification, a Spiritual Mark is placed on the participants.

This Spiritual Mark is similar to when Lin Feng obtained the Blue Moon Guardian in Jiang City.

Once death occurs, the mark disappears.

With this elimination rate, it’s feared that a second edition of the King Becoming plan might not appear again.

Even if it does, it would be a decade or two later.

”Indeed, it’s too high, and this is just the beginning.”

Someone echoed, with a very helpless tone.

From the terrifying casualty numbers alone, one can infer the brutal nature of the battles.

It’s no wonder 34 people chose to abandon this opportunity.

The participants themselves hold the potential of becoming Kings, even if they give up, they might still become Kings in the future, although the chances are slimmer and the time required far longer.

Even entering the Land of Fallen Gods doesn’t guarantee becoming a King; there’s still a chance of elimination thereafter.

Thus, the number of people giving up will only increase.

”These are humanity’s elite; dying like this is really too unfortunate. I propose to change the gathering location.”

A woman in her forties, wearing a black dress and glasses, proposed.

”Giving up is simply laughable.”

Someone sneered, it was a bald man, his voice full of mockery: ”With so many deaths, saying to give up, you just give up? Those who haven’t entered the Land of Fallen Gods might care less, but what about the ones who fought through life and death to enter it? Should they be made to leave again?”

”Can’t you see, so many have died?”

In an aggressive manner, the woman pointed to the names on the screen and retorted.

”Sure, it’s quite many, but it’s still normal.”

A White man in a suit spoke: ”If afraid of death, then don’t participate in the King Becoming plan. Since it’s a rule, it can’t be changed randomly, especially considering the gathering location has already been changed once; another change would be a joke.”

”The King Becoming plan is all about elimination, with limited resources, only those unafraid of death will receive the best rewards.”

The atmosphere was somewhat silent.

No one opposes.

Because what he said was true.

They initially chose the Land of Fallen Gods precisely to eliminate a batch.

To remove those who were cowardly or had ulterior motives.

But now the death rate far exceeded their expectations.

Now, whether regretting or not, it’s too late. Changing the gathering location a second time would be a global joke.

It might cause global skepticism towards the World Alliance.

”Old Mr. Chen, what do you think?”

The woman who spoke earlier set her sights on an elderly man with white hair.

Old Mr. Chen, being Hua Country’s representative, his words held significantly more weight.

If he agreed, others would need to seriously reconsider.

The old man was not tall, less than 1.7 meters, his face full of wrinkles, hair already gray, his frail frame slightly bent, as if a gust of wind could knock him over. He wore an ill-fitting Zhongshan suit, quietly standing in place, gazing at the list.

During the others’ argument, he said nothing, and only when asked did he seem to snap out of his trance.

”Changing is out of the question, already 12 days have passed, there’s no time.”

The old man’s body slightly trembled, suppressing his inner sadness, he spoke in a deep voice.

Earlier, he hadn’t spoken, his gaze was fixed on the list, simply searching for a portrait.
