Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 709: Chapter 527: Vengeance as the Theme

The memorial ended quickly, and just as people were waiting for that so-called answer, the Emperors and high officials did not react, remaining silent as they stood there, as if they were waiting for something as well.

”Why are we just waiting?”

Yu Qiao asked with some confusion.

The memorial had ended, and they had been waiting for half an hour, yet there was no news or action.

”Perhaps they are planning to announce it to the whole world simultaneously?” Lin Feng speculated.

Just as everyone was puzzled and discussing it, the time reached ten o’clock, and when two light curtains appeared above Times Square, Lin Feng knew he had guessed correctly.

This was a live global broadcast.

Television stations and online media around the world were streaming the release conference, and at this moment, people had no mood to work, and even the honking of cars on the street had uniformly disappeared.

In the light curtain, eight figures appeared, five men and three women, with varying ages, and seven of them were seated around a round table, facing the camera.

”That’s Leader Zhou.”

A burst of exclamations rose from the crowd.

The elderly man in a vintage Tang suit was the leader of Hua Country, and the other six were also leaders of major countries, while the only woman standing, named Deborah, was the Secretary-General of the World Alliance.

After the initial shock, the atmosphere suddenly became quiet.

The gathering of the leaders of seven major countries surely meant a major announcement.

”This is the first public live broadcast meeting of the World Alliance,” Deborah said slowly.

Deborah spoke in English without translation, but there were subtitles.

After a brief introduction, she went directly to the main topic: ”Today is World Mourning Day, to mourn all those harmed by the Alien Race.”

At this moment, the screen changed, and scenes of war aftermath appeared, without sound, showing various ruins, severed limbs, and faces filled with despair.

At this moment, the World Alliance was no longer concealing the casualties, nor were they worried about the spread of panic.

They were ready.

Prepared for everything.

The scenes of despair left people breathless and the oppressive atmosphere lasted for three minutes. When the images disappeared, Deborah continued, her voice tinged with a hint of anger: ”War is imminent, this is something beyond doubt, it is an unprecedented war that will determine the survival of humanity. We are ready, this time, we will not defend, we will strike back!”

Strike back!

Deborah emphasized these four words.

”The theme of this press conference, besides mourning, has another important theme, and that theme is: Revenge!”

When the word revenge was mentioned, the expressions of the people present varied, some fearful, some fervent, some despairing, and some indifferent.

Among them, fear and despair dominated.

People of different identities and strengths have different views and attitudes towards war, fear is a normal reaction, in contrast, fervor and excitement appear abnormal.

Except for some with mental issues, no one likes war.

Compared to the people on site, netizens online were more agitated and restless, and they were all commenting.

”Revenge?”

”Is war really coming?”

”War has always been ongoing, it never disappeared, previously the Alien Race was testing, and we were being cowardly turtles, always passively defending and getting hit, this time we will strike back.”

”The World Alliance finally found its backbone!”

”Kill those bastards, even if it means nuclear annihilation, we won’t let them have it easy.”

”With war coming, do I still have to work? Do I still need to look at my boss’s face for this paltry salary of three thousand five?”

”You guys chat, I’m heading to the supermarket to stock up on supplies.”

”Wait for me, I’m coming too.”

Netizens were wildly discussing, and more than half of them disappeared as they mentioned going to acquire supplies.

You don’t even need to look to know that the supermarkets are currently packed with people.

Ye Xing looked at Lin Feng and said in a heavy tone: ”You guessed it right.”

Lin Feng looked at the light curtain, not responding, it was something that was expected.

A month ago, over five million people worldwide were injured or killed, how could that be concealed?

The anger couldn’t be diverted, this time there was no way to fool themselves, nor could they conceal or downplay the existence of the Divine Martial Continent any longer.

Calling it revenge, but more accurately it’s preparing for battle.

Yun Kai looked at Lin Feng, his eyes filled with suspicion.

He had never understood why Lin Feng was so eager to increase his strength, always having a sense of urgency, even though he could have cultivated steadily, he was willing to risk significant life threats for the sake of rapidly enhancing his power.

Now he understood.

It wasn’t just the Nightmare, but also the incoming war.

”Brother Feng, did you predict this?”

Yun Kai asked.

The crowd slightly blanked, all eyes turned towards Lin Feng.

With Yun Kai’s words, they too realized.

Why Lin Feng wanted to establish the Avengers Alliance.

Why he risked being assimilated or seized by the Nightmare, yet helped them absorb the Soul Skill.

Who is this great?

And why he would openly close the battle achievements of the Land of Chaos, risking the high bounty placed by the Alien Race, risking everything to participate in the King Becoming plan.

If their prior adventures were reasonable and controllable, then with their current strength, participating in the King Becoming plan was too risky.

One careless move, someone might die.

Participating in the second one would be the safest, and most prudent choice.

All the irrationalities now had an explanation.

If a full-scale war came, there might not be a second King Becoming plan.

This is an unfortunate era, for ordinary people it is so, and even more so for geniuses.

If not for Lin Feng, without He Jun, in this war, they would have talent yet could only watch helplessly, without the strength to participate.

”War is on the horizon, various signs have appeared, isn’t this apparent?”

Lin Feng said noncommittally.

”That’s true, but you seem certain about when the war will come.”

Ye Xing and the others were still somewhat puzzled.

Lin Feng did not explain, merely said indifferently: ”It’s a matter of sooner or later, naturally preparations should be made in advance.”

The others still wanted to continue asking, but at this moment Deborah’s voice rang again:

”Here, the World Alliance announces four messages.”

”First, all countries should prepare for war readiness, from food to weapons.”

”Second, within one year, we will close a fifth of the Space Gates worldwide, totaling over two thousand, to avoid unnecessary casualties and focus our forces on countering the invasion from the Divine Martial Continent.”

”Third, establish the Alien Destruction Federation, gathering researchers and special talents to explore ways to counter the invasion.”

”Fourth, the first task for King Becoming program participants: enter the Land of Fallen Gods on the Divine Martial Continent, deadline one month, latecomers will be directly eliminated.”

The release of these four messages contained so much information, causing worldwide discussion and turmoil.

”A major move! An unprecedented major move.”

Yun Tianqi exclaimed.

Simply closing a fifth of the Space Gates affects tens of billions of people, who knows how many will die or be displaced in this process.

”The Land of Fallen Gods!”

Lin Feng’s eyes flickered with a trace of surprise.

Preparing for war, closing a large number of Space Gates, and forming the Alien Destruction Federation were all expected. What truly surprised him was that the first task of the King Becoming plan was in the Land of Fallen Gods.

In the legends of the Alien Race, the Land of Fallen Gods is the heart of the Divine Martial Continent, thus becoming the chosen place for demigod aliens to fall, many Emperors knowing their days were numbered would also choose to come here.

Some, before dying, would leave their legacy.

Whether it is due to this special place or because many powerful individuals were buried here, this place is heavily laden with Yin Qi, gathering a lot of Yin Souls, some of which have existed for over a thousand years, some are formed from adventurers who died after entering.

The Land of Fallen Gods is an absolute forbidden zone on the Divine Martial Continent and holds special significance to the Alien Race, definitely forbidding the Human Race from entering.

If anyone dares to enter, they will surely face endless pursuit.

Entering the Land of Fallen Gods is not easy, facing layers of alien blockades and hunts, and even after entering, various dangers still await.

The first task of the King Becoming plan left the students and their assistants with heavy expressions, some even contemplating giving up.

Resources are limited.

The World Alliance chose the Divine Martial Continent for the first task, partly to screen the students.

Because sometimes courage is more important than power.
