His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1497: Chapter 421: Such Good Fortune!

”Not pregnant!”

After Helian Hao’s disappointed voice, suddenly, the whole study room fell into silence.

”I personally checked her, and she’s indeed not pregnant!”

Helian Hao looked at Qin Mu’s astonished expression, shook his head, and earnestly explained.

”You’re a fake doctor who doesn’t even know if you’re pregnant!”

Qin Mu took quite a while before quietly speaking, with some annoyance in her eyes.

”Sigh! I didn’t sleep well last night. Why did I agree to check her? You don’t know how she reacted when she heard she wasn’t pregnant. My heart almost broke, I truly felt like a heinous sinner.”

Helian Hao clutched her bag, gloomily confiding in Qin Mu.

”If fate between them and the baby hasn’t arrived yet, what’s the use of blaming yourself?”

Qin Mu looked at her and softly asked.

”Originally, An Nan wanted to marry Jiang Zhiyuan because she thought she was pregnant. Now, finding out she isn’t pregnant, what if she backs out—”

Helian Hao murmured, a sense of oppression always in her heart.

Qin Mu didn’t speak again for a while. If there are no accidents, it’s best. If there is an accident, who knows how Jiang Zhiyuan would be heartbroken.

”How about letting Jing Feng and Mu Yichen go to their house for dinner tonight? They could probe the situation.”

Helian Hao suddenly had a clever idea and proposed.

”—Honestly, this is why you really came to me, right?”

Qin Mu was stunned for a moment before speaking again to ask her.

”I really had no other choice! I feel a bit responsible to ensure they get married smoothly.”

Helian Hao continued to explain in a low voice.

”Then let them take a look! An Nan should have really figured it out; she wouldn’t mess things up with Jiang Zhiyuan over not being pregnant. It seems that Jiang Zhiyuan’s parents already know they’re planning to marry, so...”

”Really?”

Helian Hao asked her in disbelief.

Qin Mu nodded.

Helian Hao suddenly breathed a sigh of relief, tears almost falling: ”I almost died from fright!”

Qin Mu chuckled softly: ”How did you get so silly?”

”Yes! How am I acting like a fool?”

Helian Hao was also puzzled by how she suddenly became so foolish, imagining a breakup drama without understanding the situation.

So that evening Mu Yichen and Jing Feng didn’t go to Jiang Zhiyuan’s apartment. Upon returning, Mu Yichen said to Qin Mu: ”It’s not appropriate for us to meddle in their relationship. Their feelings for each other won’t be affected by pregnancy or not; let’s not worry about it!”

Standing next to him, Qin Mu heard him say this and did not push him further; Jing Feng also declined to bother Jiang Zhiyuan.

—

An Nan and Jiang Zhiyuan were dining in the apartment, neither speaking to the other, only the soft sound of a knife and fork touching the plates.

Since completing the check yesterday, An Nan hadn’t told Jiang Zhiyuan she wasn’t pregnant but had been secretly observing him.

But being watched all the time, Jiang Zhiyuan started feeling uneasy and couldn’t help but raise his eyes to look at her: ”Baby, do you have something to tell me?”

Jiang Zhiyuan probed, his heart restless.

An Nan lifted her eyes slightly and then smiled softly: ”No, let’s eat first!”

Seeing her expression, Jiang Zhiyuan didn’t quite believe her but reflexively lowered his head to eat first.

After dinner, while An Nan cleaned the kitchen, Jiang Zhiyuan leaned on the bar behind her, pressing gently on his chest with one hand, feeling a bit stifled, unable to calm down.

An Nan had suddenly become so quiet in the past couple of days, it was a deathly stillness.

”Ah! You scared me!”

After An Nan placed the washed dishes, she turned around to see him, and her face immediately turned pale, stepping back reflexively.

Jiang Zhiyuan’s eyes widened too; he thought she knew he was behind her. She’s usually very sharp. Her sudden sluggish reaction made Jiang Zhiyuan suspicious.

”Do you have something going on?”

Jiang Zhiyuan furrowed his brow, asking her softly.

”What do you want to know?”

An Nan lifted her eyes slightly to look at him, thought for a while, and then with her head down, passed by him into the living room.

Jiang Zhiyuan followed behind her, standing next to her after she sat down: ”Are you not pregnant?”

An Nan raised her head in shock to look at him, her face truly turning ashen.

The room suddenly became so quiet that she could clearly hear her own heartbeat, unable to feel her breath.

”We’ve always been careful, though a few times not, but I still have considerable control!”
