God's Imitator

Li Renshu smiled, ”What, is this going to be ’Boss Wang pays for everyone’s consumption’? I’m not used to you being so generous all of a sudden.”

Wang Yongxin waved his hand with a smile, ”Hey, I’m not a stingy person to begin with, you have a misunderstanding about me.

”In business, in deals, haggling over every penny, that’s for profit.

”In daily life, being generous when treating people to meals, that’s for relationships.

”Each has its place.

”When running a company, although costs that should be saved must definitely be saved, the relationships that should be maintained must definitely be maintained, otherwise who would work for you among those who truly have ability?”

Li Renshu nodded, ”Alright, then we’ll wait to benefit from Boss Wang’s generosity in the future.”

This was perhaps Wang Yongxin’s attempt to buy people’s hearts with visa time, but in this setting, Li Renshu naturally couldn’t categorically refuse in an overly serious manner.

As for whether to actually propose this motion later, that would naturally require long-term consideration.

Everyone had smiles on their faces, and the atmosphere in the lobby was good.Li Renshu coughed lightly twice, ”Today is a special day, so I think we need some sense of ceremony.

”I’d like to take up a little of everyone’s time to say a few brief words.

”Now we’ve understood most of the New World’s rules. In our days living in the New World, we’ve endured the parting of companions and also felt the joy of new members arriving.

”I know that such dramatic changes between great joy and great sorrow aren’t easy for most people.

”Although we haven’t known each other very long in the community, and can only be considered chance acquaintances, we should still cherish every friendship, every bond.

”We should remember those who have passed away, and also learn to adapt to this cruel environment, looking forward with optimistic, positive attitudes.

”This drink is both in memory of Uncle Ding and to welcome Doctor Xiao Zheng.

”Most importantly, no matter what happens, we will always be the best Community 17.

”Come on, everyone raise your glasses.”

Everyone picked up their wine or beverages, ”Cheers!”

That night, many people chatted in the lobby until very late.

...

At 10 PM, Lin Sizhi returned to his room.

Sure enough, a new game invitation appeared again on his personal computer.

And it was an invitation to a judgment game.

”The King of Hell calls the roll, not giving any time to rest.”

Lin Sizhi felt somewhat helpless, but he first looked at the time, which was still quite ample, this game would only start a week later.

[Hello, Lin Sizhi.]

[You have cleared an incompetent God’s Imitator for the New World. The Gallery will remember your contribution.]

[When excellent God’s Imitators prove their value to the Gallery, they will accumulate two advantages:]

[More lenient review standards, and more available scene props.]

[In addition, you will gain basic access to the ’Database,’ which can be consulted through your personal computer.]

”Hmm?”

Lin Sizhi read through this content again.

Clearly, these two advantages were of great significance.

For God’s Imitators to survive in the New World, one thing was likely as important as life itself, that their self-designed games successfully get selected.

If they failed to be selected, then God’s Imitators would be equivalent to good people holding werewolf identity cards, not only having no benefits but also being suspected by other players.

God’s Imitators not recognized by the Gallery might be killed by players, might accidentally die in other God’s Imitators’ life-and-death games, might become puppets of other players, or might be eliminated by the Gallery through various methods.

But if every game could be successfully selected, then the God’s Imitator identity would be all advantages.

Taking a step back, they could leave backdoors in their own games to ensure self-preservation.

Going further, they could set traps to kill people they wanted to kill, or save people they wanted to save through rules.

Going even further, they could slowly change the Gallery’s rules through their own games, thereby influencing the entire New World’s ecosystem.

Even if excellent God’s Imitators became public enemies of the community, they would still have sufficient strategic space for self-preservation.

More available scene props could not only increase players’ immersion but also mix in some hints about game content in the details.

And once such hints worked in coordination with game rules, they could also significantly improve the Gallery’s evaluation of the game.

The lenient review standards went without saying, this meant games with hidden agendas would be more easily selected.

It was like the promotion path for workers in a company.

Newly hired workhorses could only strictly follow leadership requirements to produce proposals, having to guess the leader’s intentions and find ways to work miracles in limited space, showing their ingenuity in some details.

But after successive promotions, having achieved a certain position, they could autonomously design proposals, increasingly not needing to look at others’ faces.

Even reaching a certain level, willfulness and personal gain within unwritten rules would be overlooked with a blind eye.

Eliminating Zhong Yuanyuan, this incompetent God’s Imitator, indeed made Lin Sizhi take certain risks but even if ordinary players in the community had some suspicions, they couldn’t find any reliable evidence, after all the Gallery intentionally provided cover for Lin Sizhi.

Whether it was the hints before entering the game or the fifth supplementary rule additionally added after updating game rules, both would make players mistakenly think the Gallery was personally intervening to dynamically adjust game difficulty.

The existence of this information gap made it very difficult for ordinary players to imagine that this game was actually a confrontation between two God’s Imitators, and might instead reduce suspicion about Lin Sizhi’s God’s Imitator identity.

After all, from other players’ perspectives, if Lin Sizhi himself was a God’s Imitator, he definitely wouldn’t lack visa time, so why would he risk participating in games designed by other God’s Imitators? Was his life too easy and he was looking for thrills?

For God’s Imitators, they would definitely avoid participating in other God’s Imitators’ games if possible. Only for players would participating in any game be about the same.

According to common sense, the more eagerly players participated in Gallery games, the less likely they were to be God’s Imitators because there was absolutely no need to risk their lives for such a disguise.

So Lin Sizhi’s proactive participation this time was a righteous act of ’helping vulnerable players,’ making it easier to solidify his good person identity.

However, one point worth noting was that Lin Sizhi wasn’t certain whether the Gallery would send modification suggestions to other God’s Imitators.

If they sent them to other God’s Imitators, and their modification suggestions weren’t selected, then when they entered the ’Blind Date Game,’ they would definitely realize that some God’s Imitator might have modified this game’s rules, and deduce from the Gallery’s previous rules that another God’s Imitator had also entered the game.

This way, there would also be the possibility of deeply suspecting Lin Sizhi.

But Lin Sizhi ultimately didn’t know whether the Gallery had actually sent modification suggestions to other God’s Imitators, and moreover, even if such God’s Imitators existed, they wouldn’t pose much threat in the short term.

Unless the other party was stupid enough to prefer self-destruction rather than drag Lin Sizhi down with them.

Even if it came to that step, Lin Sizhi wouldn’t be helpless. Although he currently didn’t want to expose his identity, it didn’t mean he couldn’t handle things after his identity was exposed.

As early as when he voluntarily pulled the trigger in ’Redemption Roulette,’ he had already been fully prepared.

Playing with cards face up naturally had its own methods.

From the current gains, taking risks to enter the game and clearing God’s Imitators for the Gallery was worth it.
