God's Imitator

A bit earlier.

Wang Yongxin looked at the wall clock in the hall. A long time had passed since the four people from the community entered the ’Blind Date Game,’ but there was still no sign of anyone coming out.

”Is this game really taking so long?”

Wang Yongxin felt inexplicably restless.

He wasn’t worried about the four dying in the game, because even if they died, settlement information for this game should appear on the large screen, and the four people’s bracelets should drop in the hall.

Since none of this had happened, it meant the game was still ongoing.

He just rather disliked this feeling of powerlessness.

Wang Yongxin got up and went to the nearby rest area.

Li Renshu was quietly reading a book there.

”Do you have time? I’d like to chat with you.” Wang Yongxin gently tapped the coffee table in front of Li Renshu.Li Renshu looked up and immediately said, ”Of course.”

She put the book aside and went with Wang Yongxin to the third floor, randomly finding a relatively secluded room.

”We’re all smart people, so I’ll speak plainly.

”Between you and Fu Chen, who’s really in charge?”

Li Renshu considered for a moment and said, ”You can consider it to be me for now.”

Wang Yongxin was quite satisfied with this answer, ”Good, I thought so too.”

He could vaguely tell that Li Renshu had taken some time to think, but she wasn’t thinking about the question itself, rather whether she should give a straightforward answer.

In the end, Li Renshu gave a relatively straightforward answer, which was already sincere enough for Wang Yongxin.

”Alright, then I’ll speak directly.

”I have different views on the community’s current motions.

”I know our philosophies may be difficult to reconcile. For me, the most realistic approach would be to try forming a second small group for direct confrontation.

”But I’m also very clear that the success rate of doing so would be very low, and it would also bring great risks to the community and to me personally.

”So I still hope we can find a compromise solution that both sides can accept through this kind of direct dialogue.”

Li Renshu’s expression was very calm, ”Of course, this is exactly what I hope for too.

”So which specific motion do you have different views on?”

Wang Yongxin shook his head slightly, ”It’s not that I have different views on any specific motion, but rather on the approach you’ve taken in proposing motions.

”I think all the motions you’ve proposed so far don’t have any major problems when taken individually.

”But the issue is, these motions are all ’basic welfare’ type motions.

”What about ’efficiency’ type motions? ’Security’ type motions? Or even ’proactive attack’ type motions?

”There’s most likely an imitator in our community, but so far, almost everyone has tacitly avoided mentioning this, let alone proposing any motions about ’killing the imitator.’

”Why is that? I don’t understand.”

Li Renshu asked back, ”So how do you think we should root out this imitator and kill him?”

Wang Yongxin spread his hands and said matter-of-factly, ”Isn’t this quite simple?

”After imitators kill players through games, they can obtain all of the players’ visa time.

”In other words, players with normal visa time aren’t necessarily innocent, it might just be that their game hasn’t been selected by the Gallery yet. But players whose visa time clearly exceeds what could normally be obtained in games must be imitators.

”We just need to establish a motion requiring everyone to regularly disclose their remaining visa time, and we can naturally spot anomalies.

”Additionally, we can establish another motion to directly execute imitators through majority vote.

”Today’s broadcast already hinted that players can kill imitators in games and obtain all their visa time. So if we kill an imitator in the community, wouldn’t we also be able to split his visa time?

”Whether for safety or profit, the imitator in our community must die.

”Such a simple method, don’t tell me none of you five thought of it.”

Li Renshu nodded, ”We naturally thought of it, and more than one person did.

”I even had private discussions with others about this issue.

”But our final conclusion was that not only should such motions not be proposed, they shouldn’t even be discussed in public settings.

”I even had an argument with Officer Cao about this.”

Wang Yongxin was stunned. He was very confused, ”Why? Do you think the community wouldn’t pass motions like ’voting to execute players’?

”But we’d only know after submitting it and having it rejected.”

Li Renshu shook her head slightly, with some helplessness in her tone.

”Brother Wang, managing a company might allow for such thinking. As the boss, you can fire whoever you want, but managing a community doesn’t work that way.

”You can’t investigate everything, right? What if we actually find something?”

Wang Yongxin frowned even more, ”What do you mean? Do you already know the imitator’s identity, and he’s someone very important?”

Li Renshu waved her hand, ”Of course not. This might be difficult for you to understand, so let me explain slowly.

”First, do you think ’there is an imitator in the community’ is an unchangeable fundamental rule of the New World?

”In other words, if we kill an imitator, is it possible for the Gallery to continue assigning us a new imitator?

”For example, sneaking one in during recruitment, or directly notifying someone on their private computer who wasn’t originally an imitator to become one?”

Wang Yongxin was stunned. He lowered his head in thought for a moment, then nodded.

”What you’re saying makes sense.

”It would most likely happen, no, it would definitely happen 100%.”

Everyone had lived in the New World for some time and had gained a fairly deep understanding of the rules here.

The New World was not a utopia, this was already everyone’s consensus.

Since the Gallery believed it necessary to regularly conduct life-and-death games to clean up the useless and the guilty, would the Gallery allow players to kill all the imitators?

Obviously not, as long as the Gallery wanted, if one batch of imitators died, they could immediately select another batch.

As long as players still existed, imitators would always exist because imitators were selected from among the players.

The idea of rooting out and killing all imitators to create an absolutely safe zone was essentially still stuck in the mindset that ”the New World could become a utopia.”

Li Renshu continued, ”So I believe ’confirming the imitator’s identity’ is fine, but ’killing the imitator’ must be done carefully.

”Imitators are also human, some smart, some stupid, some kind, some evil.

”Only those utterly evil imitators who only think about massacring innocents are targets we must kill.

”But if it’s a relatively kind, orderly imitator, even if he’s also killing through life-and-death games, as long as this destruction is within controllable limits, we can’t rashly kill him.

”Because after killing him, what if an even more cunning and evil one comes? Wouldn’t that be more troublesome?

”For relatively kind, orderly imitators, or some simple-minded, easily controlled imitators, our optimal choice is actually to try cooperating with them, let them occupy the imitator position, and prevent the Gallery from inserting more dangerous imitators.

”If possible, we might even extract key information about the next game from them in advance, which could greatly improve our survival rate.”

After considering for a moment, Wang Yongxin nodded slightly, ”You’re right.

”But since you also agree we should confirm the imitator’s identity as soon as possible, my earlier method is still feasible, right?

”Have everyone disclose their remaining visa time, find suspicious individuals. Then we can negotiate with him, establish a mutually beneficial cooperation model. If he refuses to cooperate, then we consider killing him.

”Either way, the initiative is on our side.”

Li Renshu looked at him, ”Brother Wang, think about it again.

”Just put yourself in the imitator’s shoes and consider that scenario, and you’ll understand.”

This time, Wang Yongxin thought for quite a while.

Finally, he silently sighed, ”Alright, from the results perspective, this method is indeed not very controllable.”
