Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1539 1539: Carnage and Ice

After the Stone Demonʼs first strike, Adam and Alexia braced themselves for a difficult and painful battle.

They realized that this was a fast, powerful monster that most likely also possessed excellent defense.

But... Sometimes, reality was completely different.

The moment the Stone Demon decided to dodge Alexiaʼs ice axe, Adam realized what was going on.

”Come on, you knocked down a Phantom like me with one blow, youʼre constantly smirking, youʼre immeasurably arrogant. Itʼs like looking in a mirror.”

Adamʼs pupils trembled as he looked at the ice axe in front of the Stone Demon.

ʼAnd you decided just to dodge? You decided to do something so boring instead of stopping her axe and breaking it with your bare hands? Thatʼs what I would have done, because between the two of us, only one is a real arrogant bastard!ʼ

Ironically, the Stone Demonʼs lack of arrogance was the reason why everything had come to this point.

Adam realized that none of this was real, what stood before them was not a terrifying monster but a jester.

Slash!

When Adam swung his needle, and the Stone Demon didnʼt even have time to react, let alone defend himself, everything became clear to Adam as his gaze turned to the monsterʼs horns.

ʼSo fast that I didnʼt even notice your attack? Huh, what nonsense. How about I was too slow because of those horns!ʼ

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Using all his strength, like a wild beast, Adam grabbed the Stone Demonʼs horns, tearing them right out of the monsterʼs head.

It was a bloody and brutal sight as pieces of flesh and nerves followed the horns, which was especially painful for the monster.

GGGGRRRRRHHHHHHOOOOOO!!!

In agony, the Stone Demon roared as his hand reached for Adam to knock him off his head.

Alexiaʼs pupils narrowed as she couldnʼt believe what she was seeing. It wasnʼt Adam, but the Stone Demon, how slow he had become.

Slash. Slash. Slash.

Adam swung his needle as a whirlwind of cuts rose, slicing the Stone Demonʼs fingers to pieces.

Blood spurted around him as he pressed his palm against the Stone Demonʼs bloody head.

”Alright, itʼs time to finish this.” Adamʼs seemingly calm voice evoked primal fear in the Stone Demon, but it was already too late.

Tremble.

A wave of energy ran through Adamʼs arm as he used the ancient energy, just a few drops of it.

That was enough.

BLAST!

The Stone Demonʼs head exploded into flying flesh shreds on all sides.

Alexia stood still to the side, her expression frozen for a moment before changing to a satisfied smile.

She understood what was happening here as well.

”So it was all about his horns? Huh, the big, scary monster turned out to be a pathetic coward and illusionist!”

Tap.

The Stone Demon collapsed to the ground, and Adam stood on his back and looked around.

All the other Stone Demons awoke from their slumber as well. Their eyes glowed bright red, but they lacked the same confidence as the first demon.

They realized that their tactics had been exposed, and now it was unclear which of them was the prey and which was the hunter.

”Come on!” Adam exclaimed, spreading his arms wide. ”Attack us all at once! Neither you nor we have any choice but to fight to the last drop of blood!”

He was right, and the Stone Demons understood that.

Simultaneously, more than a dozen demons spread their wings wide and, like great shadows, pounced on Adam and Alexia.

...

Tap.

Adam threw another horn aside as he turned to Alexia, who was standing among several torn-apart corpses.

Body parts and blood covered the previously cold ground; none of the Stone Demons remained alive.

Once Adam and Alexia realized that their horns were their weak point, the difficult battle turned into a massacre, where Adam and Alexia were unstoppable.

Without their horns, without the illusion that altered Adam and Alexiaʼs perception of time and speed, the Stone Demons were no match for them.

However, despite their crushing victory in the second trial, Adam and Alexia still faced one more problem:

”And? What next?” Adam tilted his head, looking toward the passageway.

All the passageways were still closed. There was no way out of this place, and there were no messages from the Ancient Voice.

”ADAM!”

Alexia exclaimed, causing Adam to look up.

His eyes widened as he jumped sharply to the side.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Breaking through layers of stone and destroying the frame of the glass dome, another Stone Demon descended upon them, but this one was different from all the others.

He was even bigger and taller, his skin was red rather than dark, and there was only one horn on his head, full of energy. The crimson rings ran along his lone ring as if to make it clear that this was their target.

”Hah.” Adam stepped aside, looking at the Red Demonʼs smirk. He immediately saw the difference between him and all the others. ”His horn, itʼs definitely not an illusion. Whatever this bastard does, itʼs going to be dangerous!”

Crack.

The Red Demon clapped his fists together, showing that he was ready to fight the two of them.

Adam was ready to rush into battle, but something stopped him.

A chill ran down his spine, making him shudder, and it didnʼt come from the Red Demonʼs aura, but from another source.

”Arh?”

Adam turned around only to see Alexia slowly stepping forward.

She no longer wore her heavy gauntlets or boots, and the white mist no longer swirled around her.

All that remained was a dense frost energy that affected even her, covering her hands and feet with a thin layer of ice, while streams of blue, cold flames billowed from her body.

”Adam, I have a request.”

Her eyes shone brightly as her aura transformed into the silhouette of a wild beast. In contrast to Alexiaʼs calm and cold expression, the beast was in a wild frenzy, wanting to unleash all its power on its enemy.

”Leave this to me.”
