Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1521 1521: Iʼll Wait

The Ancient Flux was the source of the ancient energy, but it was not separate from the Evolution Tree. After all, even the Path Construct constantly interacted with the Evolution Tree, but it was not a direct part of it.

Now, Adam could use the ancient energy as he wished. He understood this, but he still had to learn what this power was truly capable of. At the moment, he was only thinking about simple applications.

But the Ancient Flux was not just an energy tank, but part of Adamʼs power, interacting with everything that was at the Evolution Tree, including Silvana through the Evolution Vein.

It was in the Evolution Vein that all of Silvanaʼs abilities and their shared abilities were stored. If she had not been there, Adam would not have been able to use the Imaginary Cut or Future of the Past.

Every Phantom was in a similar situation. Some particularly powerful abilities could only be activated through their Operator.

Well, if these were abilities, then there was always room for growth, for further evolution.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

Silvana trembled slightly as her eyes remained wide open. Adam was worried, but he did not interrupt the process. He did not feel that Silvana was in danger. He had to trust both her and his own strength.

This was one of the rare occasions when Adam found himself in the audience, unaware of what was happening to Silvana.

At that moment, she watched as the ancient energy moved toward two energy clusters, resembling countless branches connected at the center.

In fact, this was the source of their two combined abilities, the Imaginary Cut and Future of the Past.

Silvana couldnʼt speak or do anything. However, she noticed one thing:

ʼThe energy... Itʼs not moving.ʼ

She thought.

ʼThe Ancient Flux is waiting for my decision? I have to choose which ability to change?ʼ

Previously, such a choice had always been Adamʼs to make. He had gone through a long journey watching some abilities evolve or merge, while others disappeared without a trace.

Now, Silvana found herself in the same position, and her heart began to beat rapidly from the weight of responsibility.

She had to choose one of the two abilities, but it turned out to be more difficult than she had imagined.

What if she made a mistake? What if the new ability turned out to be worse than the previous one? What if Adam was not happy with her choice?

A multitude of questions filled Silvanaʼs mind as she approached the edge, until...

”No, I mustnʼt think about that.”

Silvana shook her head as her trembling gaze turned to a steady one.

”There can be no right or wrong choice here. I must do what I want, as Adam always does. Of all the outcomes, this is the best!”

Without hesitation, Silvana pointed to the left cluster, which represented the Imaginary Cut. Their first shared ability had appeared at the same time as Silvanaʼs spectral form.

She didnʼt know what changes the Ancient Energy would bring to this ability and what would happen next, but she did what she thought was right.

”I want to see how this ability will change!”

The energy flows headed toward the first cluster as a bright light filled the darkness, momentarily blinding Silvana.

She blinked as the next thing she saw was Adamʼs confused expression.

”Hey, are you alright? Did the ancient energy interact with you?”

Before Silvana could answer, an active tremor ran through the Evolution Tree.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

They simultaneously turned to look at the Evolution Vein, which glowed brightly, its edges opening as it was ready to grow further along the Evolution Tree.

[This will take time...]

Suddenly, the Evolution Treeʼs voice rang out.

”Hah, I havenʼt heard from you in a long time, old man,” Adam smirked.

[Shut up... Iʼm as old as you... Iʼm probably even younger, considering the circumstances. But... thatʼs not the point right now, is it?]

Silvana nodded as she looked up.

”Will everything be okay? Did I make the right choice?”

Adam raised an eyebrow. He began to guess what had happened between Silvana and the ancient energy.

[Iʼm sorry, Silvana, but I donʼt know... All I can tell you is that for now, you wonʼt be able to use one of your abilities... Although you should already know that, Silvana...]

She nodded. Until the Imaginary Cut evolves, they wonʼt be able to use it.

[The Evolution Vein will gradually grow... When the evolution of this ability comes to an end, you will both know about it... You need to be patient and gather energy... especially the ancient one, if you want to speed up the process...]

The Evolution Tree said nothing more as the light in the gaps along the Evolution Vein began to move forward, preparing to grow to hold the power of the coming ability.

”Adam...” Silvana looked at him with a worried look. ”The ability I decided to change is—!”

Before she could say anything, Adam covered her mouth with his hand, causing her eyes to widen in surprise.

”Tch. I donʼt need to be told.” Adam smirked. ”When everything is ready, Iʼll find out, right?”

She nodded.

”In that case, I donʼt want to know yet. Iʼm sure you made the right choice.”

Strangely enough, Silvana shook her head.

”Hmm?”

Silvana clenched her fists with a stern look.

”I did what I wanted! It... It was my decision!”

In response, she saw only a predatory gleam flash across Adamʼs eyes.

”Good. Very good. Now I definitely have nothing to worry about. Iʼm sure this new ability will bring me many victories and bloody battles!”

Silvana nodded. ”Now, itʼs time for you to go.”

”Yeah, I guess so.”

Adam closed his eyes as he returned to Frost Ridge.

Whoooooosh.

Before he had time to come to his senses, a gust of wind rushed past him, or rather, Alexia, who was trying to break through the barrier again.

Alexia crashed into the snow as she rose abruptly, her face red with anger.

”SHIT! He got ancient energy, so I have to, too!”

Adam smiled bitterly.

”Looks like Iʼll have to wait?”

”Of course!” Alexia exclaimed belligerently, looking at the Head Golem. ”Get ready to teach me that as well!”
