Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1532 1532: Part One

Alexia had once used this ability in front of Adam. He had seen what her absolute zero was capable of, but that was a long time ago. Since then, Alexia had become much stronger, and her abilities had changed significantly.

However, no matter how long a Phantomʼs path was, the basics usually remained the same.

Adam was a good example of this, as he still had his needle and threads. Sure, the threads and the needle had undergone many changes over the several evolutions he had gone through, but they were still part of his arsenal.

Alexia was in a similar situation. Before, she could use her Nexus to create the ice orb and freeze everything around her.

Well, now she still had that power, but with one change: she could do it constantly.

Whoooooooosh.

Frosty streams rushed in all directions from Alexia, freezing everything in their path.

The surface of the lake, which had previously struggled to respond to the low temperature, instantly turned into a thick layer of ice.

Adam looked back as his eyes narrowed. They were allies with Alexia, but that didnʼt mean he was immune to her cold.

To protect himself from the wave of frost coming his way, he held his staff forward and gathered some energy at its tip.

So when Alexiaʼs frost wave reached him, he just waved his staff, cutting it in two.

Whooooosh.

Cold gusts of wind full of ice crystals swept past Adam on his left and right under his calm gaze.

More than a dozen ghost spiders that had been wandering around him and were about to attack him turned into pieces of ice that couldnʼt even move.

ʼWell, well...ʼ Adam looked around at nothing but frozen ground that had been hit by severe frost.

Everything from the surface of the lake to the stone peaks had turned to ice.

It seemed that now Adam would have no trouble finding every golden spider. Moreover, as long as Alexia kept her ability active, every few seconds a wave of frost would emanate from the orb.

But this trial was not so simple that a Phantom could pass it simply by the power of ice.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The spiral crystals trembled, releasing an energy wave across the field that passed through every ghost and golden spider.

In a heartbeat, the icy shell binding their bodies shattered as they were freed. They had to seize the moment, so all the ghost spiders immediately pounced on Adam, while the golden ones hurried to increase their distance.

However, Adam didnʼt even look at them, his gaze fixed on Alexia, on the frost orb between her palms.

Tremble.

The orb trembled, and soon everything turned to ice again.

A tiny ice crystal appeared on the tip of Adamʼs hair. But with his next move, they broke off and shattered on the ground.

Tap.

Adam tapped his staff on the ground as he found himself several dozen meters ahead. He was moving as fast as possible.

Every time Adam tapped his staff on the ground or in the air, he made a high-speed dash through space, quickly reaching the golden spiders. He ignored or killed everyone else just by the sheer force of his speed.

This continued for five minutes, and while last time Adam and Alexia had collected only about 15-17 Glowing Tips during that time, now the situation was completely different.

Forty-nine amber orbs hovered on their arms, thirty were on Adamʼs arms, fifteen on each side, and nineteen more were on Alexiaʼs.

Alexia didnʼt kill anyone as she continued to release one wave of cold after another. It took a lot of energy, but she could easily hold out for the remaining time.

”Come on, Adam!” Alexia exclaimed as she waved her arms again. ”Only 11 left! We can do this much faster than the timer will run out! We have to make up for our past failures!”

However, Adam was not so optimistic, even though he saw a golden spider in the distance. This one was supposed to be their 50th.

ʼSomethingʼs wrong,ʼ Adam thought as he pointed his staff forward. ʼUntil we reached the 30 glowing tips mark, all the spiders were getting faster or stronger. But after the 30th tip, they stopped getting stronger. Could we really finish this trial in the next minute?ʼ

Ripple.

The ripple ran through the air like across the surface of water when Adam directed his energy to the staff tip. He aimed his weapon at a spider as if he were about to throw a spear, but in fact, he himself was a weapon.

His frame shook as Adam crossed half the lake, leaving a trail of broken ice behind him.

The golden spider flinched, sensing the impending threat, but there was nothing it could do.

The black staff destroyed it, leaving the golden tip floating in the air.

Adam grabbed it as they got the 50th one.

”Hell yeah! Ten more to go and we still have four minutes!” Alexia exclaimed happily. It didnʼt matter to her that she was playing a support role in this case. She loved to win, at the dead lands, at the casino, everywhere.

Before Adam could respond, the spiral crystals trembled as a mechanical voice echoed through the cave.

[You have collected 50 Glowing Tips.]

[The trial is entering its final stage.]

[To test your abilities, the trial will show its full potential.]

The Ancient Voice spoke mysteriously and not always clearly, but Adam and Alexia didnʼt need any explanations.

The next moment, they saw everything with their own eyes.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The ghost spiders trembled as they all exploded simultaneously, becoming mere clusters of energy that returned to the spiral crystals.

Then, the remaining ten golden spiders appeared near the stone peaks. They were no longer hiding; they knew Adam could no longer catch them.

But why?

”What the...”

Adamʼs voice rang out as the golden spiders began to run around the lake, reaching such speed that even for him, they became nothing more than a golden ring.

He couldnʼt even make out their silhouettes, and he needed to catch them somehow.
