Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1518 1518: Flux

It seemed that even for Adam, it was a completely reckless risk that would have ended in his death.

During the previous strike, the Head Golem did not attack at full strength, and Adam was fully prepared for this punch. However, even under these conditions, he was unable to remain standing and received numerous wounds along his arm.

Moreover, the Head Golem didnʼt even need to do anything. He attacked Adam only because he respected his desire to go through this trial in such a brutal way.

If the Head Golem had done nothing and just watched Adam, then in just a minute, Adam would have turned into a piece of ice, and his heart would have stopped.

However... It wasnʼt a risk, at least not from Adamʼs perspective. When the Head Golem attacked him for the first time, even if only for a moment, Adam saw it, he saw the ancient energy trying to enter his inner space.

But there was simply no room for the new power in his inner space. The ancient energy had nowhere to go, so it left Adam as quickly as it had come.

Perhaps if the skirmish had lasted a few moments longer, something would have been different, but Adam saw no point in thinking about it.

He directed all his strength so that the ancient energy would flow toward him once more, like a stream of water toward a dry well.

ʼMost likely, it wasnʼt necessary to resort to such radical measures, but...ʼ Adam thought as gray-purple flows reflected in his eyes. ʼIt was definitely worth it.ʼ

A moment before the Head Golemʼs fist and Adamʼs palm were about to collide, a loud crackling sound rang out in his mind.

Crackle. Crackle. Crackle.

Not only did he hear it, but Silvana as well, along with Lone Blaze and the Silver Weaver.

It wasnʼt difficult for them to determine where the sound was coming from.

Silvana raised her head as her eyes widened in horror.

Each of them saw the Evolution Tree begin to crumble, starting from the top of its center, right above Lone Blaze.

The Evolution Tree did not shatter like a glass figure all at once, but gradually, one piece of shallow bark after another, as in a few moments, a crack formed, leading only into the endless void inside that appeared at Adamʼs will.

”ADAM!” Silvana shouted, trying to reach his mind. She understood better than anyone else that if nothing was done, the Evolution Tree would be destroyed, and the only reason for this would be Adam himself.

However, Adam remained emotionless, not even his eyebrow twitching.

”Donʼt worry, my dear Operator, help is on the way.”

Whoooooooosh.

As if on his command, or rather invitation, the gray-purple flows appeared in the darkness of his inner space.

In a way, it was similar to how, at the very beginning of his journey, Adam absorbed the genes of monsters to gain energy from them, fulfill the conditions, and become stronger. Then, the pale-blue flows moved toward his Evolution Tree, gradually increasing his power level.

Sure, it was a completely different energy type, but the amount was about the same.

Considering how much energy Adam had at his peak, it was no more than a few drops falling into a huge lake. But these were special drops.

”What the...” Silvana gasped as she watched the gray-purple flows head straight for the crack in the Evolution Tree.

Adam had gotten rid of his power, which attracted the ancient energy, and now, the flows had found a suitable place to stay.

They werenʼt enough to fill the Evolution Tree, but they had enough power to deal with one gap.

As soon as the ancient energy reached the crack, a bright flash ran through the entire inner space as Silvana watched something completely new being created on Adamʼs path.

The place that used to be just white bark full of energy, now become an open source of another energy type, the bright rift replaced the gap as the bark around it regained its bright light along with a unique purple hue.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

The Path Construct trembled. Adam had not yet fulfilled any of the conditions for the Third Grand Star, but the Path Construct paid attention not only to the Grand Stars and conditions, but to every important stage in Adamʼs evolution.

Obviously, this case was no exception.

[The Ancient Flux was created.]

A mechanical voice rang out in the inner space passing through Silvanaʼs mind.

”A-Ancient Flux?” Her voice trembled as she stared at the purple rift at the top of the Evolution Tree.

Their knowledge of the ancient energy was limited; they knew very little about it and ancient monsters, but now Adam had a part of that power.

”Wait, if itʼs now part of the Evolution Tree, can Adam use the ancient energy? But...” Silvana bit her lip. ”How? What will happen in the end?”

Whoooooooosh.

Suddenly, a powerful wave of cold swept in, causing Silvana to cover herself with her hands from the bitter cold.

She was too focused on the Ancient Flux, so she completely forgot that Adam was still in a life-threatening situation.

The cold was real because Adam would soon freeze to death due to his current level of power.

However, he was not going to die so easily.

His plan had worked, and now he was going to use all the ancient energy he had at that moment.

Adam blinked as his eyes momentarily glowed purple before the gray-purple energy flowed toward his palm, creating a small but dense barrier resembling an ever-flowing stream.

BLAST!

The Head Golemʼs fist slammed right into Adamʼs palm, but instead of destroying Adamʼs hand along with his body, the Head Golem merely trembled.

The impact ran through the Head Golem, causing his arm to tremble while all the momentum of his punch was dissipated by Adamʼs barrier.

”Now you see, right?” Adam looked at the Head Golem. ”It wasnʼt a risk. It was an invitation.”
