Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2439 Recruitment

Thousands of immortal cultivators lined before a huge azure gate. When peopleʼs gazes fell all year round, it would always be one of respect and yearning, intending to get inside and become one of the sects.

But this time, there was a massive uproar as two flying boat constructs possessing the Fire Phoenix Clan and Ice Phoenix Clan emblems almost arrived at the same time. Moreover, there were two beauties stepping out of the flying boats with incomparable elegance. Just the way they traversed had the thousands of men out here gawking with wide eyes.

”That… who are those two? They seem to be important people with Immortal Kings protectors with them.”

”Who knows? A big power like the Fire Phoenix Clan and Ice Phoenix Clan has hundreds of Immortal Kings, so itʼs not uncommon for them to assign one or two to an important person in order to protect them. There are many such important young individuals in the two clans, making it so that it is difficult to differentiate them unless theyʼve made a name for themselves even with their status.”

”All I can say is that theyʼre not the Clan Mistresses of the two clans.”

”You think we canʼt all see that…?”

”…?”

Many people began to exchange information, but no matter how they squeezed their heads, they had no recollection of these two beauties, not even a single hint of them.

But in the air, the two beauties came to a standstill as they looked at each other. Their narrowed eyes radiated a complicated gaze. It was unknown how long they stayed quiet before the uproar below disturbed them out of their reverie.

”I see.” Mistress Zaharaʼs eyes narrowed, ”So youʼre the other half my father had with your mother.”

The white-robed woman who stood on the opposite side couldnʼt help but tremble. Her jade white fingers elicited a panic response. However, she raised her chin and coldly spoke.

”Were you spying on me, Zahara? Otherwise, it makes no sense for you to arrive at the same time as me, even if you had wanted to join the Aurora Cloud Gate.”

Mistress Zaharaʼs brows fell. Indeed, the Ice Phoenix Clan was further east than the Southwest Fire Phoenix Clan, so for her to arrive at the same time as the Ice Phoenix Clanʼs entourage meant that she timed it right.

”Heh! Youʼre not that great, Yeyin. I have no words to say to you other than Iʼm the firstborn. I could care less whether you are coming here or drop dead somewhere.”

She sneered, ”Besides, I took the decision to come here as fate told me to do so. But Iʼm sure youʼre just following your elderʼs orders, planning whatever schemes the Ice Phoenix Clan has with their calculative minds.”

”Seems like you want to die~”

”Mistress!”

The Immortal King woman behind Mistress Yeyin captured her wrist, shaking her head while Mistress Yeyinʼs lost composure returned.

It was not the time to fight or make a scene. After all, they had come here to join the Aurora Cloud Gate and would have to obey its rule for the time being. If not, they might be restricted or plainly showed the way out since they were still outsiders.

Even if they had to fight, it must be done somewhere other than in front of the Aurora Cloud Gateʼs walls.

”Heh!”

Mistress Zahara victoriously scoffed and flew towards the huge azure gate. However, her expression fell as it left a bitter aftertaste in her mouth. She thought to herself that it was because she was crass this time, not eloquent or elegant at all.

However, she also felt like she had vented all these years of humiliation that disallowed her to leave her estate.

Mistress Yeyinʼs piercing ice-cold eyes flashed at Mistress Zahara. However, she didnʼt pursue, merely nodding at the Immortal King woman who stopped her before flying towards the huge azure gate.

”…?”

Meanwhile, Davis was flabbergasted at their short exchange as he listened from an adequate distance amidst the crowd.

This was the first time Flamerose and Frostrose met after having their memories erased? Moreover, it seemed like their origin stories were changed as well? He did hear from Flameroseʼs own mouth that she was born from a scandalous past between the Fire Phoenix Clan and the Ice Phoenix Clan, although she just giggled and brushed over it.

”So this is what you meant when you said that they have...” Ellia spoke but didnʼt continue the sentence as she nodded.

Now she fully understood that both Flamerose and Frostrose had lost their memories. She had also sensed their life-saving aura back then at a crucial moment, so she could never forget it.

”They have… what…!? A heavenly genius!?”

A man had just interjected curiously as though he had listened to their conversation before his scalp turned numb, retreating a few meters as he stayed away.

Davis glanced at that man having quickly brought attention to them as everyone turned to look at them, specifically Ellia.

Although she wore a dazzlingly beautiful white robe with a shawl wrapped around her like a celestial robe and had her face hidden with a veil, she also had the emblem of the Aurora Cloud Gate over her arm sleeve and her back.

The azure gate looked like a treasure, and the cloud floating above it carried three main colors of an aurora, blue, purple, and red, giving it an auspicious look. However, knowledgeable people who were concerned over the Aurora Cloud Gateʼs affairs and ranking would very well know what the three colors on a disciple represented.

It meant that they were a true disciple or possessed a prowess thatʼs far-reaching and extensive as five levels higher, causing countless hearts present to shake.

Davis had the urge to facepalm and slap himself. He still thought he was disguising himself and unwittingly led Ellia into a pack of dogs while she also faithfully followed, although it was also to listen to Flamerose and Frostroseʼs conversation without being detected as much as possible.

Nonetheless, he had forgotten about Elliaʼs prestige, causing him to catch her wrist and fly along with her to the huge azure gate.

”What the… who were they!?”

”Are they in the rankings? She looks like Maylee from the Ancient Bell Temple.”

”I donʼt think so. She possesses a bell cloak on her at all times, but her cloak doesnʼt have bells. Are they faking?”

”Then they would be courting death!”

It created another uproar, some even having bloodshot eyes as they could intrinsically sense that the white-robed woman, together with that shabby black-robed man, was extremely beautiful. Their chick compass was ringing alarm bells while they started at the man as though they were going to gang up on him and teach him a lesson.

How dare he capture a beauty of that caliberʼs hand?

Regardless, their jealous emotions were only short-lived as Davis and Ellia rushed past the huge azure gate.

The guards standing along the pathway and guarding the peace and stability were all at Level Four Immortal Stage or higher. However, Davis saw that they possessed only the azure gate on their armors, realizing that they were all workers.

Having made a mistake, he learned from Ellia what the colors and differences of the emblem represented through soul transmission.

Nonetheless, no one dared to stop her or him, not the guards or the cultivators who were already waiting to join. Just like Mistress Zahara and Mistress Yeyin, who cut the line with her entourage, he and Ellia were also given a free pass.

From this, Davis saw that it wasnʼt corruption, but strength and status were given priority. However, he also felt one couldnʼt be unreasonable as he saw a Level Nine Immortal getting slapped by three workers simultaneously. It was unknown what wrong that Level Nine Immortal committed, but Davis understood that it was important to not cause trouble and give way when knowing whatʼs good for you.

Soon, they arrived before an open platform where a few immortals stood surrounding the area. Their aura was quite reserved, but Davis could tell that they were Immortal Kings, perhaps Level One Immortal Kings.

Just like he thought, Mistress Zahara and Mistress Yeyin also stood quietly, not daring to cut the line anymore. No one would dare to flout their status here, and if they could, perhaps they could only bring their Grand Elder, Patriarch, or someone of that caliber.

*Bang!~*

A figure flew through the skies and landed right before the edge of the giant platform. Davis wasnʼt in time to see what had happened, but an indifferent voice echoed out.
