Chapter 337: Chapter 337: Pure-blood Tier 4 Demon Beast

After half a month of hunting, Lin Yun had reaped a bountiful harvest. However, all the Tier Three Demon Beasts in Demon Beast Ridge had now grown much more vigilant, and Lin Yun’s success rate had dropped significantly.

Just now, for example, the Golden Pattern Python that had just escaped was prey Lin Yun had been stalking all day. But when a gust of wind blew past, the Golden Pattern Python thought Lin Yun and Little Ape had arrived and fled into the woods without a shred of hesitation.

The prey he’d stalked for a whole day had just run off like that. Lin Yun watched the direction the Golden Pattern Python had vanished and sighed helplessly, ”They’re just too cowardly. How am I supposed to get anything done at this rate?”

It was becoming harder and harder to succeed. The Tier Three Demon Beasts in the outer region had become as skittish as birds startled by the twang of a bowstring. Sometimes, Lin Yun wasn’t even there, but at the slightest rustle of grass in the wind, these Tier Three Demon Beasts would panic and flee.

Another seven days passed, and in that entire time, Lin Yun had only managed to hunt down a single Thunder Tiger. The Demon Beasts here were getting smarter and smarter.

”Damn it, there’s probably no chance left in the outer region. Should I go deeper and take a look?” Lin Yun cursed, already considering whether he should venture further in.

Opportunities in the outer region were dwindling. With that thought, Lin Yun refined the Thunder Tiger’s Essence Blood that night, and early the next morning, he set off toward the depths of the Demon Beast Ridge.

He traveled through the outer zone of the Demon Beast Ridge and gradually ventured deeper. As he went, he encountered fewer and fewer Demon Beasts, until eventually, there were basically no Tier Three Demon Beasts to be found.

”So few Demon Beasts?” Lin Yun said, dissatisfied.

If the Supreme Elder guarding the Demon Beast Ridge heard that, he would probably jump up in a rage. What did he mean, ”few”? Every single Demon Beast here was of pure bloodline; having this many was already impressive. Did he think the Demon Beasts in Demon Beast Ridge grew on trees?

After venturing deeper into the Demon Beast Ridge for another ten-odd li, Lin Yun stopped. Before him appeared a Tier Four Demon Beast—a Firebird.

The Firebird was the signature mount of the Flawless Palace. Its entire body was fiery red, and it was so enormous that it could carry a hundred people without feeling crowded.

Hiding in the shadows from a distance, Lin Yun didn’t dare to be the least bit careless. A Tier Four Demon Beast was equivalent to a Celestial Spirit Realm expert.

’Have I entered the territory of Tier Four Demon Beasts?’ he wondered. If he really was in Tier Four territory, Lin Yun would have to reconsider his options. Being attacked by a Tier Four Demon Beast was a completely different matter from being attacked by a Tier Three.

He watched from his hiding spot. The Firebird was dozing lazily. In truth, Lin Yun didn’t know that the Flawless Palace had very few Firebirds—only about twenty-odd in the entire Demon Beast Ridge.

Every one of these twenty-odd Firebirds was a treasure to the Flawless Palace, far more precious than the Tier Three Demon Beasts in the outer region.

Firebirds were rare to begin with, and the Flawless Palace had only managed to accumulate about twenty of them over many years.

As Tier Four Demon Beasts, Firebirds were famous for their high speed and long-distance flight, making them ideal mounts. That was why the price of Firebirds remained exorbitant throughout the Eastern Domain. Only one of the Six Great Forces, like the Flawless Palace, had the financial resources to purchase and raise so many of them.

After all, Firebirds had massive appetites and were very picky about their food. An ordinary faction simply couldn’t afford to keep them.

Lin Yun quietly observed the distant Firebird. Since he was unaware that the Flawless Palace only had about twenty of them, he watched for a full hour. Besides this one Firebird, there was no aura of any other Demon Beast in the vicinity.

Now in the territory of the Tier Four Firebirds, Lin Yun could clearly sense that the number of Demon Beasts was much lower than in the outer region, where you could always find a Tier Three Demon Beast if you were patient enough.

’A Tier Four Demon Beast... I’m no match for it right now.’ If he had the strength, Lin Yun would have charged in and taken down this Firebird without a second thought. But when facing a Tier Four Demon Beast, he knew his own limits.

”Do I have to go back to the outer region to hunt Tier Three Demon Beasts again?” Lin Yun muttered to himself, feeling a little resentful.

After wrestling with the decision for a long while, Lin Yun finally chose to give up. However, just as he was preparing to leave and return to the outer region, the cry of a Firebird suddenly echoed from the sky.

Following the cry, a Firebird a full size larger than a normal one descended from the heavens. Even from a great distance, Lin Yun felt the sky above him suddenly darken.

Its feathers were an even more brilliant crimson, as if its body were enveloped in true, blazing flames.

As this new Firebird slowly landed, the one that had been dozing lazily actually scrambled backward in fear.

A full size larger and far more imposing, the newcomer merely gave the other Firebird a passing glance. As if understanding its intent, the smaller Firebird immediately surrendered its territory.

”Whoa, that’s bold.” Watching the unexpected scene unfold, Lin Yun froze. He stared at the even more majestic and domineering Firebird, a crazed light glinting in his eyes.

’A Pure-blooded Demon Beast! My god, it’s actually a Pure-blooded Demon Beast!’ Lin Yun screamed inwardly. This Firebird was an absolute treasure. Every Martial Artist knew just how rare a Pure-blooded Demon Beast was.

He forced himself to calm his excitement and slow his ragged breathing. Though he was thrilled, a part of Lin Yun’s mind remained cool-headed. This Firebird’s strength was likely unmatched among Tier Four Demon Beasts. It would be incredibly unwise for the current Lin Yun to have any ideas about it.

What Lin Yun didn’t know was that this Firebird was Luo Feng’s personal mount. In the entire Demon Beast Ridge, this was the one and only Pure-blooded Demon Beast, which spoke volumes about its value.

This Firebird could be called the treasure of the Flawless Palace, as well as Luo Feng’s personal treasure. Back then, Luo Feng had paid a tremendous price to tame it. After successfully taming the Firebird, he had even hosted a banquet for the Six Great Forces of the Eastern Domain at the Flawless Palace, where they feasted and drank for three days and three nights.

Furthermore, Luo Feng doted on this Firebird completely. To give the simplest example, its diet consisted of Tier Four Demon Beasts.

Just think about it: it was a Tier Four Demon Beast that ate other Tier Four Demon Beasts. The price of a single Tier Four Demon Beast was far beyond what the current Lin Yun could ever hope to afford.

Of course, when it came to burning money, this Firebird paled in comparison to Little Ape. Little Ape was still just a Tier Two Demon Beast, yet its diet already consisted of Three-Stars Qi Essence Pills and Tier Three Demon Beasts.

By that logic, by the time Little Ape became a Tier Four Demon Beast, it would probably need to eat Tier Five Demon Beasts. And in the entire Eastern Domain, you could count the number of Tier Five Demon Beasts on one hand.

Lin Yun stared excitedly at the distant Firebird. A Pure-blooded Demon Beast! Unlike Lin Yun, Little Ape had merely glanced at the Firebird when it first appeared before lazily sprawling back into Lin Yun’s arms.

When it came to bloodlines, there probably wasn’t a single Demon Beast in the entire Celestial Spirit Continent that could compare to Little Ape. Though this Firebird was a Pure-blooded Demon Beast, in Little Ape’s eyes, its bloodline was far too inferior.
