Chapter 328: Chapter 328: The Sentence

”Your Excellency, Vice Hall Master, I am innocent! I have cultivated in Flawless Palace since I was young. For a hundred years, I have been diligent and have never done a single thing to bring shame upon Flawless Palace. This boy, Lin Yun, is trying to frame me! I implore you, Your Excellency, to seek justice for me!” As the situation turned against him, Elder Wang dropped to his knees again, weeping and sniveling as he pleaded with the Vice Hall Master.

Looking at Elder Wang, whose time was almost up, the Vice Hall Master sighed softly. He was indeed an old member of Flawless Palace, but how could the things he had done possibly escape the notice of the Flawless Palace’s upper echelons?

In the servant disciple area, servant disciples would inexplicably disappear from time to time. If one really wanted to investigate such matters, it would be a piece of cake with the Punishment Hall’s methods.

However, because the servant disciples were completely insignificant to Flawless Palace, as long as Boss Tang and his group didn’t go too far, the Punishment Hall generally wouldn’t bother with these things.

The reason the Punishment Hall was alerted today was that Lin Yun had escalated things to an extreme. A Three-Stars Steward was dead. If the Punishment Hall still didn’t intervene, it would be unjustifiable.

Furthermore, others might not know Lin Yun’s identity, but as the Vice Hall Master of the Punishment Hall and a Main Seat Elder of Flawless Palace, he knew it very clearly.

’This is a genius with the aptitude of a Demon Fiend. I don’t know what madness possessed Luo Feng to assign him to the servant disciples, but anyone who actually treats Lin Yun like a real servant disciple is a fool.’

Furthermore, Puzhu himself had just visited the Punishment Hall. In truth, the outcome of this matter had been decided before the Vice Hall Master even appeared.

Of course, Luo Feng was the one who made the decision. ’Even I am baffled by Luo Feng’s verdict. Our Palace Master really just does whatever pops into his head.’

Placing the paper in his hand gently on the table before him, the Vice Hall Master said indifferently to Elder Wang, ”Elder Wang, do you think the affairs of the servant disciple area can be hidden from the Punishment Hall?”

Faced with the Vice Hall Master’s question, Elder Wang was at a loss for words. The man who had just been wailing his grievances now fell completely silent.

Seeing Elder Wang remain silent, the Vice Hall Master continued, ”Servant disciples go missing from time to time. The upper echelons of Flawless Palace can’t be bothered to deal with Boss Tang and his men secretly killing them, but you all shouldn’t have taken things too far.”

Hearing the Vice Hall Master’s words, Elder Wang’s face turned ashen. Anyone who wasn’t a fool would know by now that the Vice Hall Master had already made up his mind.

Sure enough, after a brief pause, the Vice Hall Master directly announced the verdict.

Elder Wang was stripped of his position as the Elder in charge of the servant disciples. In consideration of him being a veteran of Flawless Palace, no other punishments were given. In any case, he didn’t have much time left, so he would be allowed to live out his final days in peace.

After announcing Elder Wang’s sentence, the Vice Hall Master looked at Lin Yun. Luo Feng’s punishment for Lin Yun made even him give a wry smile. This punishment was bizarre to the extreme, and in the eyes of others, it was a death sentence.

”Lin Yun, although you were forced into it, it is a fact that you killed fellow disciples and a Steward. This seat now sentences you to one year of raising Demon Beasts at Flawless Palace’s Demon Beast Ridge.”

Lin Yun’s expression remained unchanged upon hearing the Vice Hall Master’s words. However, the faces of Elder Wang and the Two-Stars Stewards beside him changed drastically.

A cold sneer appeared on Elder Wang’s face. ’You little bastard, going to Demon Beast Ridge, haha, and for a whole year! I’ll just wait and see if you can make it back alive.’

Ignoring Elder Wang’s sneer, Lin Yun respectfully bowed to the Vice Hall Master and calmly accepted the punishment. He didn’t know what kind of place Demon Beast Ridge was, but from the name, he could tell it had something to do with Demon Beasts.

”Hmph, don’t get too happy, you old bastard. I hope you’re still alive when I get out of Demon Beast Ridge,” Lin Yun muttered irritably, noticing Elder Wang sneering at him from the side.

”Haha, we’ll talk after you make it out alive.” This time, faced with Lin Yun’s curse, Elder Wang wasn’t angry at all. Instead, he just laughed heartily.

In his eyes, although Lin Yun’s strength was formidable, going to Demon Beast Ridge—haha—was a sentence of certain death.

The verdict was announced. This time, the Punishment Hall’s sentence seemed very bizarre. Aside from Elder Wang being stripped of his Elder position, Lin Yun was actually being sent to Demon Beast Ridge.

With Elder Wang removed from his post, the upper echelons would naturally appoint a new Elder to supervise the servant disciple area. At the same time, the Stewards who had died would be replaced by new ones selected from among the servant disciples.

Of course, none of this had anything to do with Lin Yun anymore. Early tomorrow morning, he would be escorted to Demon Beast Ridge by an Elder from the Punishment Hall.

Regarding Lin Yun’s sentence, even the two Punishment Hall Elders who had been silent all this time paled slightly. It seemed that Demon Beast Ridge was indeed no simple place.

’I’d better find someone and ask them about this,’ Lin Yun thought to himself.

While things had concluded on Lin Yun’s end, a different scene was unfolding in Luo Feng’s courtyard, located in the residential area for the Flawless Palace’s upper echelons. At this moment, Puzhu was there with Luo Feng.

”Palace Master, isn’t it too dangerous to send Lin Yun to Demon Beast Ridge for a year?” Puzhu asked worriedly.

”Dangerous? Not at all. Don’t I go to Demon Beast Ridge for fun all the time?” Luo Feng replied dismissively.

Hearing Luo Feng’s words, Puzhu’s mouth twitched. ’What’s your Cultivation level, and what’s Lin Yun’s? How can he possibly compare to you?’

”Palace Master, perhaps you could reconsider this?” Puzhu still felt Luo Feng’s decision was a mistake.

”No need to reconsider. This is the result of my careful deliberation. It’s settled,” Luo Feng declared, ignoring Puzhu’s objection.

’Careful deliberation? Any Main Seat Elder in Flawless Palace knows he doesn’t do ”careful deliberation.” Every decision Luo Feng makes is just on a whim.’

’Just like when he assigned Lin Yun to the servant disciple area—did he deliberate carefully then? Of course not. Luo Feng probably didn’t give it a second thought. He just thought it would be amusing to make a genius with the aptitude of a Demon Fiend into a servant disciple.’

Seeing Luo Feng’s nonchalant expression, Puzhu didn’t press the matter further, but just muttered faintly, ”Careful deliberation? Look at what happened after Lin Yun was in the servant disciple area for just a few days. He caused a huge incident. *That’s* the result of your careful deliberation?”

Luo Feng, of course, heard Puzhu’s muttering, but he paid it no mind. Lounging lazily in his bamboo chair, he said with extreme smugness,

”What do you know? The servant disciple area was lacking management, which is exactly why I sent Lin Yun. See? In just a few days, he’s already resolved the issues there. You truly lack foresight.”

There was no reasoning with Luo Feng. Puzhu could now only hope that Lin Yun would be able to survive in Demon Beast Ridge. As for the face-saving excuse Luo Feng had come up with, Puzhu didn’t buy it at all.

’Lacking management? Did he not see how many people Lin Yun killed in a single day?’
