Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 268: Chapter 268: Setting Off

Ziyi had challenged Lin Yun to withstand three of Ruhua’s moves. If Lin Yun succeeded, Ziyi would have to see him in a new light. If he failed, well, his death would be meaningless.

There were two outcomes, but neither would cost Ziyi anything. ’If I succeed, Ziyi will get a glimpse of my true strength. If I fail, I die on the spot.’

Silently, Lin Yun looked at Ziyi, his estimation of this member of the Wind Forest Sect’s Three Talents rising. As Lin Yun’s gaze met his, Ziyi’s expression remained unchanged, and he held the stare.

After a few breaths, a devilish smile played on Lin Yun’s lips. He turned to Elder Wu of Celestial Eagle Valley and asked, ”Elder Wu, if I prove that I have the strength of a genius on the Wind Forest List, will that be enough to verify my identity?”

”That’s right. As long as you can prove you possess the strength of one of the top ten geniuses on the Wind Forest List, I will believe you,” Elder Wu replied.

Hearing the exchange between Lin Yun and Elder Wu, Ziyi frowned slightly. He had a feeling Lin Yun was up to no good, that there was some scheme afoot.

And just as he thought, the moment Elder Wu finished speaking, Lin Yun declared, ”I am ranked tenth on the Yanhuang List. So, I will now challenge the tenth-ranked genius on the Wind Forest List. I ask that you, Senior, act as a witness.”

”Fine,” Elder Wu agreed.

’Challenge the tenth?’ When Lin Yun said this, Ziyi’s gaze sharpened. He hadn’t expected Lin Yun to resolve the situation with just a few words.

A fight against the tenth-ranked on the Wind Forest List... to put it nicely, it was a challenge. To put it bluntly, it would be a one-sided slaughter by Lin Yun.

However, with Elder Wu present, the Grand Elder and the others didn’t dare to be too outrageous, especially since Elder Wu had already granted Lin Yun’s request.

Lin Yun was challenging the tenth-ranked genius of the Wind Forest List. At this, a delicate-featured young man stepped forward. He was that very genius.

In the Wind Forest Sect, anyone who became one of the top ten geniuses on the Wind Forest List was a treasure of the Sect. Although this person was only ranked tenth, he usually considered himself to be among the most elite geniuses.

However, seeing Lin Yun now, a chill ran down his spine. He didn’t believe he was as strong as Lang Dan, and the man before him was the one who had killed Lang Dan.

And not only that, he had also killed two Primordial Ocean Realm Elders.

Before the fight even began, the auras of Lin Yun and this person were worlds apart. At this point, Elder Wu’s gaze toward Lin Yun softened slightly. It seemed Lin Yun hadn’t lied to him; he was indeed a genius from the Yanhuang List.

”Damn it, that brat is too cunning,” the Grand Elder muttered under his breath from the side.

Hearing this, Ziyi, who had already returned to his master’s side, maintained his calm expression. He placated him softly, ”Master, there’s no need to be angry. Once we get to the Green Talent List competition, I am confident I can kill him.”

Only after hearing Ziyi’s words did the Grand Elder’s expression relax a little.

Facing the tenth-ranked genius of the Wind Forest List, Lin Yun didn’t even draw his Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. The outcome of this match was decided from the very beginning. To be timid before the fight even started was to have already lost.

Executing Inch Step, Lin Yun appeared before the disciple in the blink of an eye. Without any surprise, he smashed a fist into the disciple’s abdomen.

The powerful, heavy blow sent the man flying over ten meters before he crashed hard onto the ground.

Lin Yun felt no goodwill towards the people of the Wind Forest Sect. He lacked the strength for now, but if he were powerful enough, he would annihilate the Wind Forest Sect without a moment’s hesitation.

Having landed a successful blow, Lin Yun pressed his advantage. However, halfway there, Chen Ming suddenly appeared in front of him. A lazy smile hung on his face as he said, ”Lin Shan, where you can forgive, you should. This junior brother of mine has no grudge against you.”

Stopped by Chen Ming, Lin Yun stared at him without a word. His intuition told him this man was no weaker than Ziyi, and in some ways, was even more dangerous.

”Thank you for saving my life, Senior Brother Chen,” the disciple said, scrambling to his feet to thank Chen Ming. There was no doubt that if Chen Ming hadn’t intervened, he would be a corpse by now.

Chen Ming ignored the disciple. His eyes were locked with Lin Yun’s, and faint wisps of Battle Intent began to emanate from both of them.

The atmosphere slowly grew tense. Aside from Ziyi and a few others, the rest of the Wind Forest Sect disciples watched Lin Yun and Chen Ming motionlessly. They were especially focused on Chen Ming; since becoming one of the Wind Forest Sect’s Three Talents, he had rarely fought in front of a crowd.

”Do you think you can beat me as you are now?” Just as everyone thought a fight was about to erupt, Chen Ming was the first to retract his aura, reverting to his somewhat lazy demeanor as he spoke to Lin Yun.

Hearing this, Lin Yun, as if on the same wavelength, also retracted his aura. A devilish smile appeared on his face as he replied, ”If you killed me, you’d just be doing someone else a favor.”

They both spoke so quietly that no one else heard. After they finished, Lin Yun and Chen Ming both smiled faintly. Then, Chen Ming led the disciple back to the Second Elder’s side.

”Elder Wu, is my identity believable now?” Lin Yun asked Elder Wu.

”Good. Since we have a result, let’s depart now.” With a wave of his hand, Elder Wu was the first to leap onto the back of the Black Feathered Eagle.

Following Elder Wu’s lead, the Grand Elder, Second Elder, Third Elder, the geniuses from the Wind Forest List, and Lin Yun all jumped onto the eagle’s back one by one.

Once everyone was aboard, the Black Feathered Eagle let out a clear, piercing cry. With a powerful flap of its wings, which spanned several dozen meters, it whipped up a gale that sent the Wind Forest Sect disciples around the plaza flying.

Amidst the roaring wind, the Black Feathered Eagle soared into the sky, flying rapidly towards Celestial Eagle Valley.

A Tier Four Demon Beast, a being that surpassed the Primordial Ocean Realm. Sitting on the Black Feathered Eagle’s back, Lin Yun’s understanding of the major powers in the Eastern Domain deepened.

Even the Demon Beast used for escorting them was Tier Four. This showed the might of Celestial Eagle Valley. It could be said that even if all the powers of the Southeast Domain, big and small, were to unite, they would still be no match for Celestial Eagle Valley.

The simplest reason was that these powers had no one capable of fighting a Tier Four Demon Beast. This was why, for tens of thousands of years, the Southeast Domain had been held firmly in Celestial Eagle Valley’s grasp. Even the division of resources among the other powers required Celestial Eagle Valley’s approval.

The Black Feathered Eagle was massive, so the dozen or so people on its back weren’t crowded in the slightest. Except for experts at the Ninth Layer of the Primordial Ocean Realm like the Grand Elder, everyone else sat cross-legged, circulating their Elemental Power to resist the fierce headwind.

The Black Feathered Eagle was incredibly fast. A typical Qi Sea Realm Martial Artist of low strength would be completely unable to ride it. Even these geniuses from the Wind Forest List were groaning in misery as they struggled to resist the constantly battering gale.

Compared to them, Lin Yun was much better off. By just slightly circulating his Demon Emperor Technique and War God Technique, he perfectly withstood the rushing wind.

Just like Lin Yun, Ziyi and the other two were also at ease.
