Chapter 253: Chapter 253: Who Is Setting Up Whom?

The Monk and Daoist had already made up their minds. The moment the Heaven-Swallowing Python attacked, they would flee and leave Lin Yun behind to hold it back.

”I’ll eat you all today,” the Heaven-Swallowing Python snarled.

Hearing this, the Monk and Daoist prepared to flee. But just then, the Little Ape, which had been clinging to the Daoist’s back, stealthily fired the Forbidden Artifact Lin Yun had given it.

From the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s perspective, it looked as if the Daoist had been the one to fire the Forbidden Artifact.

ROAR... With a furious roar, the Heaven-Swallowing Python couldn’t believe that these two ant-like humans actually dared to launch a sneak attack on it.

Faced with the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s fury, the Daoist and Monk were also baffled. The Monk glanced at the Daoist, as if to ask, ’Where did you get a Forbidden Artifact?’

”It wasn’t me, it was the Little Ape.” The Daoist had noticed the Little Ape on his back the instant it fired the Forbidden Artifact. Though he didn’t know why the Little Ape had done it, he sensed that something was wrong.

BOOM! The Forbidden Artifact exploded against the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s head. However, although its creator, Zhong Lin, was a formidable expert at the Late Stage of the Primordial Ocean Realm, the Forbidden Artifact he had refined was still not powerful enough to seriously injure the Heaven-Swallowing Python.

Having been struck first, the Heaven-Swallowing Python was completely enraged. A wound appeared on its massive head. It had actually been injured! Although it was only a flesh wound, to the Heaven-Swallowing Python, this was an utter humiliation.

In its rage, the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s glowing green eyes locked onto the Monk and Daoist. As for Lin Yun, he had been completely ignored.

”I will eat you. I will definitely eat you,” it said coldly.

Just then, Lin Yun, who had remained silent the whole time, executed his Qingfeng Body Technique and quickly slipped away. Only his voice drifted back to the ears of the Monk and Daoist.

”Gentlemen, the Heaven-Swallowing Python is all yours. I’ll be taking my leave.”

The Heaven-Swallowing Python did not stop Lin Yun from leaving. Right now, its eyes were only for the Monk and Daoist. If it went after Lin Yun, the duo might escape.

”Damn it, he screwed us again!” the Daoist cursed. If he still hadn’t realized this was all part of Lin Yun’s plan, he might as well just go die.

In truth, from the moment the Monk and Daoist had agreed to his proposal, Lin Yun had suspected they were up to no good. Knowing their personalities, he knew treasure was their top priority.

Moreover, Lin Yun’s relationship with the Monk and Daoist was strange. They weren’t friends, but they weren’t enemies either. They had entered the Mysterious Forest together purely for the Ghost Fruit.

With a relationship like that, Lin Yun knew without a shadow of a doubt that the two of them would sell him out, just as they had tried to do now.

Therefore, believing that he who strikes first gains the advantage, Lin Yun had acted. His plan was a success; the Heaven-Swallowing Python wasn’t chasing him.

”Master She, it was that kid who attacked you! It has nothing to do with this Monk,” the Monk pleaded.

”That’s right! That kid is despicable. I’ve even heard that he’s killed many Demon Beasts in the Mysterious Forest. Master She, you can’t let him get away with it!” the Daoist added.

However, the Heaven-Swallowing Python was completely unmoved by their desperate pleas. It opened its cavernous, bloody maw and lunged toward the Monk and Daoist.

”Dammit! You stupid snake, you don’t even know who attacked you! This is really pissing me off!”

”Lin Yun, you despicable villain, screwing over men of the cloth again and again!”

The two of them yelled as they began to flee. Now the Ghost Fruit was completely out of the question. It was uncertain if they could even keep their own lives.

Running as if their feet had grown wings, the Monk and Daoist fled for their lives. Behind them, the hundred-meter-long Heaven-Swallowing Python was in hot pursuit, giving off an air that it wouldn’t rest until it had devoured them both.

”Stupid snake, stop chasing us! Can’t you tell the good guys from the bad? I’m a monk! Why would I ever attack you?”

”That’s right! I am a Daoist who strictly abides by the precepts. I would never do anything so nefarious! Stop chasing us!”

”You two silver-tongued humans. I will definitely eat you today.” The Heaven-Swallowing Python completely ignored their shouts, snorted coldly, and spat out a cloud of black mist from its mouth.

The black mist contained a potent corrosive power. Inside the mist, a Martial Artist had to protect their entire body with Elemental Power. Weaker Martial Artists wouldn’t be able to last long at all.

”Damn it, how is this black mist so powerful? My Elemental Power is almost depleted!” In just a hundred breaths’ time, the Monk and Daoist were already struggling to resist the corrosion of the black mist as their Elemental Power was rapidly consumed.

Without a second thought, the Monk and Daoist began to swallow Qi Essence Pills, simultaneously tossing various Healing Elixirs into their mouths.

After swallowing a Rejuvenating Pill, the Monk muttered a curse, ”So that’s why that kid Lin Yun gave us so many Elixirs. He had this planned from the very beginning.”

”We never should have trusted him. That guy is a complete scoundrel, capable of anything,” the Daoist added.

In the minds of the Monk and Daoist, Lin Yun had become a synonym for pure evil. They had been screwed over by him too many times, and this time, he had thrown them to a Tier Four Demon Beast.

Even for seasoned adventurers like the Monk and Daoist, their hearts were pounding in their chests. A single moment of carelessness, and they would end up in the snake’s stomach.

Back in the Mysterious City, Lin Yun had set them up to be chased by every Martial Artist in the city. But that incident paled in comparison to this.

Being chased by a Tier Four Demon Beast was a near-certain death sentence. If not for the Monk and Daoist’s veteran escape experience and their own considerable strength, they would have already been eaten by the Heaven-Swallowing Python.

They ran for their lives, eventually fleeing out of the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s territory. And yet, the python still hadn’t given up, remaining hot on their trail.

”This stupid snake! How can it be so dumb? I really want to just slap it to death,” the Monk fumed.

”Stop talking and just run!”

Along the way, the Monk and Daoist had been caught by the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s attacks several times. Though they hadn’t died, they were in terrible shape, with several broken bones.

They had originally planned to sell out Lin Yun, but in the end, they were the ones who got sold out. Bitterness, anger, and fear churned inside them. The duo no longer had the energy to curse anyone. All they could do was run for their lives; getting caught meant certain death.

After successfully luring away the Heaven-Swallowing Python, Lin Yun smiled faintly. ’Trying to scheme against me? You two monks need to learn your place. I knew what you were planning from a mile away. You really thought you could sell me out?’

With that, Lin Yun began to search for the Ghost Fruit and the Qing Zhu family’s Supreme Treasure.

And sure enough, the Heaven-Swallowing Python’s territory was teeming with Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit. In a short amount of time, Lin Yun had already harvested five stalks of Earth Level Five-Stars Spirit Grass, three stalks of Earth Level Six-Stars Spirit Grass, and even one stalk of Earth Level Seven-Stars Spirit Grass.

It seemed that because of the Heaven-Swallowing Python, almost no one had ever come here, resulting in an abundance of Spirit Grass.

Lin Yun only bothered to pick the Spirit Grass and Spirit Fruit that were Earth Level Five-Stars or higher. His main focus was still on the Ghost Fruit. Even though he had lured the Heaven-Swallowing Python away, time was tight. The moment it returned, he would be in grave danger.
