Chapter 262: Chapter 262: All-Out Pursuit

Lin Yun killed another expert from the Wind Forest Sect. According to eyewitness accounts, the Wind Forest Sect finally confirmed that Lin Yun was the same ”Lin Shan” who had killed one of their own at Chiyang Pass.

At this moment, on Wind Forest Mountain outside Wind Forest City, lay the headquarters of the Wind Forest Sect. Countless buildings dotted the landscape from the mountainside up, crowned by an exceptionally magnificent grand hall at the very peak.

Inside the grand hall at the peak, the leaders of the Wind Forest Sect’s three major factions—the Grand Elder, the Second Elder, and the Third Elder—sat with stern expressions. The Grand Elder had summoned them as soon as he received the news.

”He has now killed two of our sect’s Primordial Ocean Realm experts. His crimes are unforgivable. What do you two think we should do?” the Grand Elder said coldly from his seat.

Upon hearing this, a stout elder to the side responded, ”He should certainly be killed. However, the ones he killed were your disciples. I’m afraid this is a matter you’ll have to handle personally, Grand Elder. I’ve been buried in trivial matters lately and simply can’t spare the manpower.”

The speaker was the Second Elder of Feng Ling. After listening to the Second Elder, the Grand Elder turned his gaze to the Third Elder. The Third Elder looked quite young, no more than forty or fifty from his appearance.

However, once a cultivator reached the Primordial Ocean Realm, their age could not be judged by appearance. The Third Elder was at least over a hundred years old.

The Third Elder was a straightforward and impatient man who didn’t beat around the bush. Seeing the Grand Elder look his way, he spoke bluntly, with no regard for the Grand Elder’s dignity.

”This is your problem. It has nothing to do with me.”

The Grand Elder’s expression betrayed neither joy nor sorrow at their replies. He had expected this from the start. The Second Elder was the type who never acted without personal gain, while the Third Elder was a one-track-minded brute.

Ever since the Wind Forest Sect had split into factions, the relationship between the three of them had steadily deteriorated. If not for the fact that none of them felt confident of victory, they would have long since dropped all pretenses.

”Fine. Since you both feel that way, I will send my own men to capture him,” the Grand Elder said. ”However, I will need your assistance with one thing. The boy is likely to enter your territories, so I need you to grant my men passage to search within your domains.”

”You can send your men into my territory, but they are not to cause any trouble there,” the Third Elder said bluntly. ”Also, prepare a hundred thousand Low Grade Primordial Stones as a fee.”

”A fine suggestion, Third Elder. Since that’s the case, my terms are the same. That shouldn’t be a problem for you, Grand Elder, should it?” the Second Elder chimed in.

Listening to them sing the same tune, anger swelled in the Grand Elder’s heart. But there was nothing he could do. Now was not the time to go to war with these two.

A delicate balance existed between the Wind Forest Sect’s three factions. No one dared to make the first move, for fear that the other two would unite against them.

Taking a deep breath, he forcibly suppressed his anger. The Grand Elder managed a hideous smile. ”Fine. No problem. I’ll be counting on you both, then.”

”In that case, I’ll take my leave.” Having gotten his answer, the Third Elder was the first to depart. True to his character, he always spoke his mind. If not for their shared history in the sect, he would never have allowed the Grand Elder’s men into his territory at all.

”I’ll be leaving as well. I wish you the best of luck, Grand Elder,” the Second Elder said, leaving right after.

After they had both gone, the Grand Elder slammed his palm down, shattering the chairs they had just occupied. He snorted coldly. ”Hmph. Just you wait. The Wind Forest Sect will be mine.”

The two men Lin Yun had killed both belonged to the Grand Elder’s faction; even Lang Dan had been his Direct Disciple. Naturally, the task of hunting Lin Yun fell to the Grand Elder’s followers.

Back in his own courtyard, the Grand Elder immediately summoned five experts from the Primordial Ocean Realm—one at the Fourth Layer, one at the Third, one at the Second, and two at the First.

In addition, he gathered over a hundred disciples from the Qi Sea Realm. While they were no match for Lin Yun, they would serve as the main force for tracking him down. The task of killing Lin Yun would, of course, fall to the five Primordial Ocean Realm experts.

”Find that brat for me, no matter the cost!” the Grand Elder roared at the five men. ”Otherwise, how can I hold my head high in front of those two?”

Hearing his command, the five men nodded respectfully and quickly headed for Wind Forest City.

Meanwhile, Lin Yun had already reached the Third Elder’s territory. Of the three major factions, the Third Elder’s was the weakest, and his faction was now in a precarious position.

Even their slice of territory within Wind Forest City was the worst of the three.

Lin Yun found a tavern and went inside. The experts from Celestial Eagle Valley were set to arrive in Wind Forest City in two days. In that time, Lin Yun planned to wreak some havoc.

A preliminary plan was already forming in Lin Yun’s mind. Based on the rumors he’d heard in Wind Forest City, the Third Elder had an exceptionally explosive temper.

The man was blunt and couldn’t stand being slighted. If you so much as provoked him, the Third Elder would come after you like a mad dog. This was precisely why the Grand Elder and Second Elder had yet to make a move against him.

When dealing with a madman like that, you either kill him in one blow, or you don’t provoke him at all.

If you failed to kill him, a man like the Third Elder would hound you to your grave.

’All brawn and no brains, is it?’ Lin Yun mused quietly, sipping his wine. ’The breakthrough lies with the Third Elder.’

While Lin Yun was devising his plan, news of him killing the Primordial Ocean Realm expert and Lang Dan was already spreading like wildfire through Wind Forest City. The men dispatched by the Grand Elder had also entered the city.

Over a hundred disciples in Wind Forest Sect robes began to scour Wind Forest City for any sign of Lin Yun. The five Primordial Ocean Realm experts, meanwhile, remained stationed in the city, ready to strike and kill the moment he was found.

”Have you seen this person?” Two Wind Forest Sect disciples entered the very tavern where Lin Yun was drinking. One of them held out a portrait of Lin Yun for the Shopkeeper to see.

’They found this place so quickly?’ A faint smile touched Lin Yun’s lips. ’I was waiting for them.’

He deliberately walked toward the entrance, making no effort to conceal himself. The two disciples, who had been questioning the Shopkeeper, froze for a moment when they saw him. Then, one of them shouted.

”It’s him! Go report to the Elder! I’ll hold him off!”

Without a second word, the other disciple immediately ran to report to the Elder. They knew they were no match for Lin Yun; only an Elder could handle him.

The remaining disciple kept his distance, terrified that Lin Yun would strike him down in an instant. His mission wasn’t to fight Lin Yun; just tailing him was enough.

Lin Yun knew what the disciple was thinking. He smiled faintly, choosing not to kill him. Instead, in a flash, he bolted out of the tavern.

Thinking Lin Yun was trying to escape, the man hastily gave chase.
