Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 128: Chapter 83: Do You Believe in the Occult? (Second Update)

”Hmm, Dad, I’ll leave it to you. Help him find some clues...”

Sister Three Billion said, her fingers trembling slightly as she turned off the phone. She put the cigarette she had been holding back to her lips, only to find that it had already gone out from not being smoked for a long time.

She stood with the cigarette at the restaurant entrance, her long, wavy hair, eyebrows perfectly shaped, and lips red, exuding a beauty that was both bold and streetwise.

Passersby couldn’t help but look at her, and some even whistled at her.

Sister Three Billion ignored them, standing in a daze until suddenly someone reached out and took the cigarette from her lips, throwing it into a nearby trash can.

Sister Three Billion snapped back to reality and turned her head to see it was Blake Leaf.

She opened her mouth, ready to make a sarcastic remark, but Blake Leaf spoke first, ”...Thank you.”

Sister Three Billion realized that Blake Leaf had heard everything she had said.

She didn’t know how long he had been standing behind her.

Almost no one at Metropolitan North University knew that she and Blake Leaf came from the same place.

Because they never spoke about it, and they hadn’t exchanged a word during high school either.

Back then, they were people from two different worlds.

Who would have thought that in college, they’d get to know each other because of a dormitory get-together.

But they still had no private interactions.

Sister Three Billion felt a bit agitated, running her fingers through her hair, she said arrogantly, ”...Are you sure your current parents aren’t your biological parents?”

Blake Leaf nodded, his face slightly darkened, ”I got a DNA test right after graduating high school; they’re not related to me by blood.”

”Why did you suddenly think to get a DNA test?”

”...In high school, we did a blood-type experiment. I did mine, then my parents’, just out of curiosity, and then I found out...”

Both of their blood types were O, which couldn’t produce an AB blood type child under any circumstances.

”Did you ask them about it?”

Blake Leaf was silent for a long while, ”...I asked them during this year’s Spring Festival.”

”What did they say?”

”They cried, cried for a long time, and finally told me they didn’t know who my biological parents were either.”

”I was left on their doorstep.”

”They said I was only three months old then.”

”They had no children and treated me as their own, secretly taking me to another place.”

”A year later, they came back with me, saying I was born outside. Because they didn’t have money, I wasn’t born in a hospital, so they couldn’t produce a birth certificate.”

”The local government knew they were impoverished and didn’t further complicate the issue, allowing them to register me.”

Blake Leaf took a deep breath, ”I’ve made many efforts, but to no avail. I can only try your father. Uncle Xi has many connections, wide influence. For something that happened over twenty years ago, only he might be able to find leads.”

Sister Three Billion knew her father was famously a rascal in that small county, and people in various circles had to give him face.

But Blake Leaf’s case was too strange, if he had been abducted, Sister Three Billion’s father would have found leads by now.

The problem was he wasn’t abducted, as no money was exchanged when he was left.

”I remember there’s a DNA database for abducted children around the country. Do you want to try your luck?” Sister Three Billion put away her phone and turned to enter the restaurant.

After walking a few steps, she stopped again, turned back, and said, ”Have you had dinner yet?”

Blake Leaf shook his head, ”I’m not hungry.”

”Why don’t you come and eat with us?” Sister Three Billion bit her lip, ”You know Kenneth Osborne and Joyce Shaw; I heard they’ve started a small company doing projects to earn money. Your grades are good too, you could join them...”

”No, if I wanted to do projects, I would’ve done it long ago.” Blake Leaf continued shaking his head, his face looking worse, ”I don’t want charity from others.”

”It’s not charity; they’re not doing charity work,” Sister Three Billion disagreed, finding Blake Leaf’s odd pride hard to understand.

”If they were doing charity, that would be even scarier,” Blake Leaf sneered, ”How many private charitable organizations are straightforward?”

Sister Three Billion had no rebuttal; after a while, she said angrily, ”Suit yourself then.”

As she said this, she turned and left.

But after a while, she turned back, not looking at him, eyes straight ahead, ”I wonder if you believe in metaphysics.”

Blake Leaf: ”...”

The topic jumped too quickly; he couldn’t keep up.

”...If you do believe, you can come find one of my roommates, let her give you a divination. She’s quite skilled.” Sister Three Billion said calmly.

Though Lawrence Winters hadn’t talked much about his family, those familiar with him, like Sister Three Billion and Crazy Girl, knew he had an uncle who was the Great Heavenly Master, and he himself had learned a few tricks from his uncle.

Sister Three Billion had heard from Crazy Girl once that Lawrence Winters was very accurate in divination.

Blake Leaf’s gloomy mood throughout the evening was dispelled by Sister Three Billion’s words.

He chuckled and shook his head, ”I know all your roommates; is it Molly Zimmerman or Crazy Girl? I never knew either of them could divine.”

”It’s not them.” Sister Three Billion turned, ”It’s that young girl who shouldn’t have called you impoverished; her name’s Lawrence Winters.”

Blake Leaf was slightly stunned.

To be honest, he had a rather good impression of Lawrence Winters.

Not only because of anything else, but because his perseverance was seen through by her, and she even knew how to protect his little bit of dignity.

Blake Leaf silently followed Sister Three Billion.

Sister Three Billion returned to the private room without closing the door after her.

Not long after, Blake Leaf also entered.

Still wearing the restaurant’s uniform, but without the earlier aggressiveness.

He dragged a small round stool from the corner, sitting between Sister Three Billion and Crazy Girl, poured himself a glass of juice, and raising it, said to Joyce Shaw and Crazy Girl, ”Congratulations.”

Joyce Shaw nodded with a smile, ”That’s more like it, come on, can we have some white liquor? No one needs to drive today, right?”

Kenneth Osborne laughed, ”Other than you, no one else here drives.”

Lawrence Winters: ”!!!”

Kenneth Osborne! I know you’re speaking in code! And I have proof!
