Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 106: Chapter 73: Make Them Capsize (Third Update)

Lawrence Winters twisted and turned in front of the mirror, admiring her newly slim figure.

Three-Billion Sister got dizzy from watching her.

”Alright, Lawrence, you’ve lost weight and it’s very noticeable. Can I have the mirror now?” Three-Billion Sister put on a new outfit, eager to use the only full-length mirror in their dorm.

Lawrence snapped her fingers with a grin and sat back down at her desk.

She wanted to check what time her mom and uncle’s flight was arriving tomorrow.

Just as she sat down and opened her laptop, her phone rang.

It was her uncle’s number.

Lawrence quickly swiped to answer, ”Uncle, what time is your flight tomorrow?”

On the other end, her uncle, Nick Zeller, sounded weary: ”Lawrence, your mom wants to video chat. Do you have a moment now?”

”Of course!” Lawrence happily nodded and sent over the video chat invitation.

Nick hung up, and Gabrielle Winters connected the video chat from her side.

”Lawrence, why did you get so skinny?” Gabrielle jumped when she first saw Lawrence, ”It’s only been two weeks since we last saw each other, and your little face has sharpened. Is the school food not good? You should eat out if necessary. Don’t skimp on food; it’s not worth it.”

Lawrence hadn’t seen her mom and uncle for almost two months and missed them dearly.

She pouted and playfully said, ”It’s because I miss you so much... pining away every day, morning, noon, and night, three meals a day.”

”Little cabbage, without uncle and mom, it’s green turning yellow and green turning yellow...”

As she spoke, she started to sing.

Gabrielle knew she was just goofing around.

”Looks like you’re doing great.” Gabrielle scrutinized her closely over the video.

Although noticeably thinner, Lawrence’s complexion looked good, her cheeks rosy, skin fair and smooth, with big, bright eyes and vibrant spirit.

”...Your lovesick story doesn’t hold water.” Nick also peeked at her and huffed, ”I bet you’re on a diet.”

Lawrence: ”...”

Indeed, her uncle knew her all too well.

Fortunately, she was prepared for this.

Lawrence smiled unhurriedly, nodding, ”Yes, I’m on a diet. All the girls at school are dieting, so I decided to fit in and casually join in. It turned out quite well.”

Gabrielle believed her and laughed, ”Back in our college days, we too would always shout about dieting while feeling guilty eating late-night snacks every night. Hahaha...”

Lawrence laughed along.

She noticed her mom seemed much more lively now than when she was working as an office clerk in that small place in River City. At least she smiled more than before.

It seemed like getting her mom out of River City was the right move.

Lawrence felt even happier and nudged her mom, ”Mom, look how much weight I’ve lost. The clothes and pants I bought last time don’t fit well anymore. Can we go shopping for new clothes when you get back?”

”Sure, no problem. If you want new clothes, you can go with a friend now,” Nick hastily agreed, nodding, ”Are you out of money? I’ll transfer some money to you.”

Right after he spoke, Lawrence’s phone chimed with a transfer notification.

”Is twenty thousand enough?” Nick asked her over the video.

”Hahaha... it’s more than enough... really!” Lawrence nodded vigorously, ”But you’re coming back tomorrow, why the hassle? Yet, since you’ve already transferred the money, let’s not bother sending it back... transferring back and forth is a hassle...”

”You little money grubber.” Nick laughed at her antics, ”We transferred money because we can’t come back yet.”

”Huh? Weren’t you supposed to be back tomorrow? Uncle, how long have you been away for a Feng Shui consultation this time?” Lawrence asked curiously, ”Weren’t you supposed to be gone for a month? It’s almost two months now, and you still can’t come back.”

”Ugh, don’t even bring it up.” Nick slapped his thigh in frustration, ”That client is unreasonable! Everything was submitted and fine a week ago, and I had him book my flight, but out of nowhere, he claims the Feng Shui was wrong. Then, he invited one notorious Feng Shui Master from each of the four provinces—East, South, West, and North—to have a ’Four Symbols Battle’ with me!”

Lawrence’s eyes widened, ”No way? Didn’t you sign a contract beforehand?”

”We did, but he claims there’s a problem with my Feng Shui! So, he’s hired those four to correct it!” Nick said angrily, ”This is an attempt to ruin my reputation! This is intolerable!”

Gabrielle also spoke up, slightly irritated, ”This is far from over. We’ve been in the provincial capital for nearly two months, and your uncle has been inspecting the territory almost every night. After it’s all finished, he suddenly says there’s a problem!”

”Isn’t it just a house build? Has the foundation been laid?” Lawrence was puzzled.

”Not yet. If it were laid, even if there were issues, he’d just have to endure.” Nick sneered, ”This is a deliberate move to cut off my financial resources, under the advice of some so-called expert.”

As Nick spoke, he stood behind Gabrielle, making eye contact with her. Lawrence got the hint.

She understood more than Gabrielle about the severity of the situation.

Reaching the point of needing a ”Four Symbols Battle” meant it wasn’t just a simple ”correction.”

If they lost this battle, it would severely damage Nick’s reputation as a Feng Shui Master.

But if the four participating Feng Shui Masters lost, Nick would not only rise in reputation, but those four would have to pay a steep price.

If Nick were a bit ruthless, he could potentially drive them out of the Geomantic World; even if not, they would still need to concede, serving tea and admitting their mistakes, thereafter acknowledging Nick as their senior.

In the Geomantic World, seniority matters greatly and is directly tied to one’s financial gain.

”What a despicable thing to do, cutting off someone’s financial path!” Lawrence jumped to her feet, ”Uncle, let me think of a plan to help you!”

She said it like that, but in fact, Nick Zeller has been showing her feng shui for so many years that this ”Four Symbols Battle” is not their first experience.

Although it might not be as high-end as this time, in essence, it’s the same.

Logically, Nick Zeller shouldn’t be so worried.

Lawrence Winters kept it in mind, and after finishing her video call with her mom, she secretly messaged Nick Zeller: [Uncle, what’s going on? Is it difficult to deal with?].

Nick Zeller replied: [The feng shui battle itself doesn’t trouble me, the headache is I don’t know who is trying to sabotage me from behind].

Lawrence Winters: [... You have quite a few opponents, anyone could be trying to mess with you, right?].

Nick Zeller: [Tsk! Those opponents I’ve defeated are already silent, none of my current opponents have such a grand scale to invite feng shui masters from all four provinces!].

Lawrence Winters: [...]

Lawrence Winters: [This indeed seems suspicious. Can you think of anyone significant you’ve offended recently?].

Nick Zeller: [Do you think your uncle is that careless? I help many openly and secretly, but lately, I haven’t offended any remarkable person...].

Lawrence Winters had nothing to say.

While she was trying hard to think, Nick Zeller sent her another WeChat message: [Lately when I’m divining, no matter how I divine, the root of the problem seems to be with you. Think carefully, have you offended anyone you shouldn’t have, causing the anger to be vented on me?].

Lawrence Winters: ...

How does one handle feeling a bit guilty?

The first thing she thought of was those two top-tier celebrities.

Those are first-line talents, could it be they’ve discovered her true identity...

But she immediately ruled out this possibility.

Because those two celebrities have recently been suppressed quite badly by the rivals, and all sorts of immoral deeds they’ve done have been exposed.

Of course, there are parts where rivals intentionally fabricated rumors to slander them, but at this time, who wouldn’t seize the opportunity to step on them?

After all, not everyone encounters a rival turning into a ”legal reserve talent”.

In their own difficult situation, it’s hard to imagine they’d roundabout to target her uncle instead of her directly.

So if it’s not those two celebrities, who could it be?

Thinking this way, Molly Zimmerman, the person she had exposed as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, surfaced.

Could she be involved?

Lawrence Winters leaned her chin on her hand, staring intently at the small angel figurine on the desk.

Molly Zimmerman’s family background seems pretty good, as good as what extent, she heard from the student council that she seemed to be Central South Province’s Wealthiest?

But could the wealthiest person in a province really mobilize feng shui masters from all four other provinces collectively?

Seems lacking a bit in scale.

Lawrence Winters racked her brain and suddenly turned to ask Ms. Three Billion: ”Ms. Three Billion, did Molly Zimmerman mention she has relatives in the Spencer Family?”.

Ms. Three Billion, while admiring her newly done manicure, casually said: ”Yeah, didn’t she say she was going to submit a resume to us? You forgot? She said the third wife of the Spencer Family is her aunt.”

This makes sense.

Lawrence Winters thought about it, likely, it must be related to Molly Zimmerman.

The Spencer Family steps in to help her vent out?

Unexpectedly, this woman’s heart is so narrow, and her tactics quite terrifying.

Lawrence Winters lightly tapped her fingers on the desk, then smiled slightly after a while.

The Spencer Family, how interesting.

So she messaged Nick Zeller, first simply recounting the grievances between herself and Molly Zimmerman, then stated Molly Zimmerman’s connection with the Spencer Family, finally said: [It might really be my fault, I offended someone, and this person tend to tackle people indirectly, which got directed at you, uncle].

Lawrence Winters continued to message: [I think she wants to strike at the root. By bringing down uncle, I won’t have any support anymore].

Nick Zeller finally understood the situation.

He carefully thought about the things he encountered over the past two weeks on this side, immediately nodded and said: [Seems that’s what’s happening. But don’t worry, I’ll handle this for you!].

Lawrence Winters: [!!!].

She had already handled it herself!

Isn’t her uncle focusing on the wrong thing?!

Now someone has hired grand geomancers from four provinces to engage in a battle with her uncle.

If they fail, their family’s money...!

Lawrence Winters quickly replied: [To cut off one’s financial support is like killing their parents!].

Lawrence Winters: [A parent’s revenge is unforgivable! I’ve already come up with a plan, the big boss from the Spencer Family owes us a life-saving favor!].

Nick Zeller did not adopt her plan, but confidently replied: [No problem, now that I know the root, I’ll effortlessly make them fail!].
