Daddy Always Gets Jealous

She really could change her appearance!

She looked up at Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan pinched her chin tightly, ”Fu Chengyang and Huo Jinnan, which one do you love more?”

Qin Huan was about to speak when she alertly realized it was a trap. She almost blurted out ”Huo” but immediately swallowed her words and said, ”I love Huo Xiao’er more!”

”Asking for a spanking.”

Huo Jinnan pushed her upper body against the headboard, his eyes gradually darkening.

Qin Huan stared intently at him, thinking back to that summer eight years ago—

Donggang

During a drug bust, Huo Jinnan went undercover as Fu Chengyang in the ranks of the drug lord Jiang Yun, who was active in Donggang year-round.

July 5, 2008

In the Primitive Forest on the eastern side of Donggang, a gunshot sounded, followed by explosions and gunfire everywhere.

The armed police and the drug lords were engaged in a fierce gunfight.

The mission was led by Zhan Hui from the Winter City special forces team, ”If you see anyone trying to break through, shoot to kill!”

The deputy team leader couldn’t help speaking up while watching the firefight, ”The higher-ups have specifically instructed us to ensure the safety of the undercover agent.”

Zhan Hui didn’t respond.

The drug lords were trapped in a small village within the woods, completely surrounded.

Gu Jizhou, who had joined the troop for less than a year and was on his first mission, clenched his gun. Thinking that the undercover agent was his uncle Huo Jinnan, he hesitated as he looked at Zhan Hui, wanting to say something. Then he remembered his mother’s words, but he choked back his impulse to speak.

Wasn’t his uncle exceptionally skilled?

His grandfather said that with the completion of this mission, his uncle would be the one with the greatest merit and would be promoted to major directly, while he, simply rode on the coattails for a military honor.

If he was never as good as his uncle, surely his uncle wouldn’t flinch even in a hail of bullets, right?

Seeing the wall shake and crumble under the rattle of machine-gun fire, he fired another shot.

Half an hour later, two hours later, the drug lords ran out of ammunition, almost all were shot and killed.

Gu Jizhou followed the others into the courtyard, searching around. Not a single survivor was found, his gaze fickle as he looked at the bodies littering the ground.

After a while, Zhan Hui reported the battle situation.

Gu Jizhou stood aside, listening. He heard Zhan Hui mention they hadn’t found the undercover agent.

Soon, he received a call from Huo Qichang. He looked in Zhan Hui’s direction and repeated to Qichang what Zhan Hui had reported.

When leaving, he made a call to emergency services.

...

Che Huan and her classmates came to play in Donggang. They got lost in the forest and were separated from the others.

As the night grew darker, she felt some fear, walking and looking around.

Suddenly, a rustling noise came from the bushes beside her. Che Huan screamed out in fright and tightly closed her eyes.

Suddenly she felt something soft and squishy moving on her foot. Opening her eyes, she looked down to see a small black dog.

The little dog bit at Che Huan’s shoe, barked once with a ”woof woof”, ran ahead a bit, then turned back to look at Che Huan and barked again.

Che Huan paused for a moment, then followed the little dog.

Seeing that Che Huan was following, the little dog continued to run ahead, looking back repeatedly as if to make sure she was still behind before it seemed assured.

Che Huan followed the little dog all the way to a dilapidated courtyard. She saw the little dog run into it, hesitated for a moment, then followed inside. In that instant, she saw guns and bodies everywhere, and her vision went dark as she fainted.

The little dog, looking at Che Huan, stood there stunned, barking once with a ”woof woof”, then ran up to her and began to lick her face with its tongue.

A few minutes later, Che Huan came to, lying there and met with two round, shiny black eyes that seemed to be curiously staring at her.
