Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Qin Huan smiled at him, then followed the little one out of the door.

The two of them circled the yard, found a secluded spot, and headed towards Zhong Qin’s room along the base of the wall.

After walking a few steps, the conversation inside became clear—

”Anan, tell me honestly, what’s really going on?”

Zhong Qin’s breathing was heavy; it seemed she had some difficulty breathing.

Qin Huan stood there, pressing a hand to her chest. An hour ago, when Zhong Qin’s mother came to the bedroom door, Qin Huan had seen it, as she was facing towards the door.

Seeing Zhong Qin’s mother’s complexion, it was because she heard her conversation with Huo Jinnan.

At that moment, she became anxious too.

What was the truth?

Restlessness, panic, and fear—a multitude of emotions choked up in her chest at once, making it hard to breathe.

Just then, she heard Huo Jinnan’s voice and froze as if struck by lightning.

”Mom, Huanhuan is pregnant with twins and has severe anemia; she has fainted twice already because of it. Her body probably won’t make it through the mid-stage of pregnancy, that’s why I don’t want the child anymore.”

Zhong Qin sat there with surges of pain in her chest, ”Oh.”

Huo Jinnan looked at Zhong Qin, ”Mom, I might not want to have children anymore in the future; having Xiaowei is enough for me.”

Zhong Qin nodded, thinking of her own experience of losing a child, feeling a similar past as Huanhuan’s.

Generally speaking, when a woman has a child, they consider it more important than themselves, especially after having experienced such loss and heartache before.

After a while, she finally said, ”Right, having just Xiaowei is enough. Don’t tell Huanhuan, she probably won’t be able to handle it.”

”I know.”

...

Qin Huan took a deep breath, clutching her chest as she turned back the way she came.

The little one pursed his lips, feeling a wave of sadness, and touching his face, he found tears.

Thinking of the two little babies in Huanhuan’s belly, but then—

Turning to see Huanhuan’s receding figure, he frowned and quickly followed.

Seeing Huanhuan sitting on a wooden bench to the side, like a soulless rag doll, he walked over, sat down beside Qin Huan, and took her hand, ”Huanhuan, it’s okay, you still have me.”

Qin Huan looked at the little one and held him tightly in her arms.

The little one gently patted Qin Huan’s back, ”Mom, Huo Jinnan and I both love you.”

A lump formed in her throat, and after a long time, Qin Huan managed to say with difficulty, ”Mom loves you both, too.”

The little one, ”Let’s go back then, or Huo Jinnan will start worrying.”

Qin Huan took a deep breath, let go of the little one, ”Okay.”

The two held hands as they walked back to the living room, where they saw Huo Jinnan standing on the balcony smoking.

Seeing Qin Huan enter, he put out his cigarette and returned to the living room.

Approaching the little one and Qin Huan, ”Go upstairs and rest early.”

Qin Huan smiled at him and responded with a ”Okay.”

The little one raised his head to look at Huo Jinnan, half-expecting that Huo Jinnan would actually be man enough at this time; if he dared to abandon Huanhuan for the child, he would never love Huo Jinnan again!

Huo Jinnan glanced at the little one, ”You too, go to your room and rest.”

”I got it, dad.”

The three of them walked towards the elevator together. On the second floor, Huo Jinnan and Qin Huan went back to their bedroom, while the little one returned to his room.

After closing the door, the little one, harboring a glimmer of hope, called Shen Mubai to explain the situation. Hearing Shen Mubai’s response, his heart felt so heavy it seemed it might crack open, ”Uncle Shen Mubai, aren’t you the best doctor? Why can’t you save Huanhuan’s babies?”
