Daddy Always Gets Jealous

The next day, seeing there was still no reaction from Che Huan, Huo Jinnan looked towards the little one, ”Did you give Huanhuan the medicine?”

Meeting Huo Jinnan’s overly intense gaze, and seeing his demeanor, the little one felt somewhat afraid and pursed their lips, shaking their head, ”No... did not.”

Huo Jinnan, ”Why not?”

The little one pouted their small mouth, ”It... It’s not good for the baby in Huanhuan’s belly, so I threw it away.”

Huo Jinnan didn’t say anything, his eyes dark as ink as he watched the little one.

The little one felt uncomfortable being watched, ”I’ll go see Huanhuan first.”

They hurried into the ward, looking towards Che Huan, ”Huanhuan, Huo Jinnan seems a bit off, could he be—”

”He won’t.”

Che Huan thought of his words and felt a chill run through her.

If he didn’t want the child, then why stay here?

Was he bothered by what Huo Jinyun had said? Even if she and Gu Jizhou had never had a marital relationship, who would believe it once it was said?

This kind of thing also couldn’t be proven.

Being bothered by this had nothing to do with the child, right?

Why not want the child?

Looking down at Xiaowei, a child once unwanted, how adorable they are now!

And then, caressing her belly, this child, no matter what, she would have!

Huo Jinnan stood on the balcony, staring out the window, lost in thought.

He knew that no matter what, she might keep these two children, at all costs! Even knowing it was because of anemia and twins might not change anything.

Unless she hated him!

After standing for a while, he left the suite and went to Shen Mubai’s office, ”Let’s talk about it in a month.”

Shen Mubai looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Brother Huo, not to harp on it, but her condition after the last birth was pretty bad, almost like a tour through the Gate of Ghosts; she was lucky to survive, only she doesn’t know that. If Qiao Qiao hadn’t been there for her, she might—”

Huo Jinnan nodded, ”I know; give her some time to adjust.”

Shen Mubai responded, ”Anyway, the same old advice: make arrangements early.”

Huo Jinnan thought of Qiao Qiao, ”Qiao Qiao was an undergraduate at Hong Kong Medical University before, what can she do here with you?”

Shen Mubai looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Nurse, physician assistant.”

”Good,” Huo Jinnan answered, sitting there, picking up his phone, and calling Huo Bei, ”Contact Qiao Qiao, just say Che Huan is pregnant with twins.”

After hanging up the phone, he looked at Shen Mubai, ”Lend me a cigarette.”

Shen Mubai handed Huo Jinnan a cigarette, ”Brother Huo, I know it’s a tough call, you...”

It seemed all reassurance was redundant.

He said no more.

Huo Jinnan took the cigarette, ”A light.”

Shen Mubai lit the lighter and handed it to Huo Jinnan.

Huo Jinnan clasped the cigarette between his thin lips, took a drag, saw the tip glow with sparks, relaxed his lips, inhaled deeply, and looked at Shen Mubai, ”Thanks.”

Shen Mubai said nothing, sitting there with him as he smoked.

Only after finishing the whole cigarette did Huo Jinnan leave Shen Mubai’s office.

After a while, his phone rang.

Huo Jinnan answered the call, hearing Qin Shaojin’s voice, ”If there’s nothing important, I’ll hang up.”

Qin Shaojin said, ”Wait a sec, Brother Huo, Huo Jinyun got gang-raped by a few male death row inmates in prison; it was my uncle who arranged it, even shot a video, and sent it to your grandfather’s place. Right now we might be in a bit of trouble, one of the male prisoners got caught by your grandfather.”
