Beneath the Red Dragon

”So I’m planning to release these rats back, a long-term plan will catch the big fish. Even if we can’t catch the big fish, these rats can serve as my eyes in the harpists’ strongholds.”

Bronze Dragon Alina nodded slightly, ”Be careful, don’t end up with nothing like they say, losing the rice while trying to steal the chicken. In my opinion, these rats should actually be imprisoned and hanged all at once at a suitable opportunity. The Black Hand behind isn’t important, there will be plenty of chances to sweep them away completely.”

The Green Dragon squinted slightly, nodding slowly.

She did not agree with Alina’s words, but she appreciated Alina’s approach.

Among the Gogomola Dragon Group, the Colorful Dragon occasionally seemed somewhat conservative in front of the Bronze Dragon, thus Alina became one of the unquestioned members.

...

The sound of dripping water echoed with a lonely flavor in the hollow, vast, crisscrossing underground passage.

The echoing footsteps in the deep and complex underground pipelines became especially clear when the deerskin boots hit the ground.

As a Stalker mastering Shadow Power, Thor wouldn’t make any noise even if he stepped on leaves; such act was merely to inform his companions of his arrival.

Observing member of the team, Half-Elf Archer Kael revealed his face at the corner, confirmed it was indeed his companion, and quickly withdrew.

Thor restrained his steps, silently slipped into the corner, and nodded slightly at his companion’s gaze.

Here, beneath the Golden Empire’s Royal City—Royal Capital, is the sewer.

The spacious and towering sewer is constructed entirely of sturdy slabs, stretching tens of kilometers, including twenty giant vertical shafts each sixty-five meters deep and thirty-two meters wide.

The shafts are connected by pipes with a diameter of ten meters. Rainwater from the first nineteen shafts flows through the city’s sewer into the last shaft, concentrating into a huge reservoir supported by one hundred and eight giant pillars thirty-six meters tall and weighing thousands of tons.

Wastewater and sewage expelled by the city are connected by the ten-meter-wide pipes, eventually directed to the wastewater treatment facility outside the Royal Capital.

Some people from the gray areas of the Royal City, upon passing through the wide sewer, referred to the space supported by the giant pillars as the ’Underground Temple’.

Because an ordinary being appears especially insignificant when standing before these giant pillars.

These unexpected visitors are no exception.

In the corner of this space, all team members have gathered.

Great Mage Lor standing on a giant Hexagram Magic Array, quietly engraving the final Magic Rune nodes.

This giant Hexagram Array has had most of it completed, with Great Mage Lor having drawn and sketched 1250 Magic Rune veins.

At this moment, the Magic Rune veins under Lor’s feet have started to faintly communicate and converge, flowing with some magical Spiritual Light, making Lor’s silhouette appear especially holy.

The rest of the team members are waiting quietly, when this giant Magic Array completely lights up, it means they no longer have any choices.

Jesi repeatedly rubbed his weapon, as if this action could help calm himself down, wiping away those jitters and uneasiness.

Thor looked at his companions’ serious expressions and spoke: ”Don’t worry too much, according to the pattern I’ve confirmed, the servants and beloved ones of those Dragons only patrol these sewers every three days, we still have enough time.”

Ranger Nayole nodded, as if comforting himself, he laughed: ”This opportunity was hard to find, that terrifying Red Dragon is temporarily not in his nest,”

”Maybe he is still far-off in West Hammer dealing with those monsters, we are fully sure of escaping through the sewer after completing this ritual from this complex city.”

”As long as we can escape this city, we are like birds flying in the sky, not afraid of being caught by the Dragon’s legion.”

Jesi suddenly asked: ”But do we really want to do this? The Golden Empire ruled by these Colorful Dragons is a rare civilized place on the Northern Continent, even as a Dragon Slayer, I must admit the Dragon’s kingdom is not entirely bad.”

”Moreover, once those Dragons go mad, the people here will also suffer, our actions, it’s hard to say whether they are just.”

White Armor Knight Gao’er interrupted his companion’s words, he said righteously: ”You’re wrong, Jesi, the Dragons’ empire shouldn’t exist, those Dragons are just waiting for an opportunity, they will not forsake their ambitions.”

”Instead of waiting for those Dragons to cause a world-spanning war across Aikania due to their immortal ambitions and desires, it’d be better if we ended their ambitions in advance.”

Hart spoke slowly: ”Justice will always bring some temporary pain, Jesi, don’t overthink it, we are legendary Dragon Slayer warriors, also a just Dragon Slayer team, we fight not only for money and interests, but also for everlasting justice!”
