Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

WHOOSH—

The white light faded, and a large, white dog resembling a Samoyed leaped out of the Light Array, blinking its black, button-like eyes.

[Pet Beast: Cotton (Wave White)

Attribute: Light and Water Element

Race: Middle Elite Race

Real-time Energy Value: 710]

Wave Whites are highly obedient, intelligent, and gentle, often serving as police and search-and-rescue dogs. This type of Pet Beast is quite valuable and difficult to obtain without the right connections.

”Woof woof~” (Hello there~)

”Woof!” (Yeah, hello, hello!)

The big dog and the little dog met, wagging their tails at each other in a friendly greeting.

Meanwhile, Su Zhi communicated with Yu Bao through the Beast Taming Space:

”Yu Bao, you saw the exhibition match yesterday. Cotton is very strong, and its Water Element is super effective against you. It won’t be easy to defeat.”

”Woof woof!” (Isn’t that great!)

Yu Bao’s eyes gleamed with excitement.

’A rare Race... high power... trained hard... He’s got all the buffs stacked!’

’I only fight the elite; I wouldn’t bother with anyone less!’

Cotton tilted its head curiously, not understanding why this little guy was so excited about his impending arbitration.

Cao Mingyu said with a stern face, ”Don’t move around. Left front paw back ten centimeters, head raised ten degrees, eyes forward, tail on the body’s central axis.”

Cotton did as it was told.

Su Zhi: ”...”

Yu Bao: ”...”

’Jeez, he’s a micromanager.’

’Still, he seems pretty tough. I’m feeling the pressure!’

In reality, Cao Mingyu was the one feeling the pressure.

A moment ago, he had habitually scanned with his phone and discovered that Yu Bao’s Real-time Energy Value had actually reached 660.

It was only 545 yesterday!

A surge of over a hundred in a single night—what kind of bizarre boost was that?

He was using Tier Two Water and Light Element resources on Cotton, and even then, its energy only increased by one or two hundred per week!

’Calm down. Maybe he just used some rare resource that temporarily boosts Energy Value... I’ve already seen through all of his Skills. There’s no way he has any new tricks.’

After all, he had done his intel gathering. Cao Mingyu still had a degree of confidence and quickly calmed himself.

DING!

The Race Bell rang. The arbitration initiated by the student council of No. 1 High against Su Zhi had officially begun!

”Cotton! Water Bomb Combo!”

Cao Mingyu didn’t just blindly lead with the max-power High-pressure Water Gun, despite having the advantage of the first move.

Yu Bao had mastered the Tier Two Desert Concealment. If he missed, it would put Cotton at a disadvantage.

It was better to use a lower-power move with limited strength but a quick execution and recovery to maintain a constant barrage!

Faced with the attack, Yu Bao used Desert Concealment to dodge.

The Wave White’s continuous volley of Water Bombs successfully kept up the pressure, preventing Yu Bao from mounting an effective counterattack.

Cao Mingyu knew Su Zhi wouldn’t be cornered so easily.

Sure enough, it didn’t take long for Yu Bao to figure out one of Cotton’s habitual attack patterns. He activated Desert Concealment in reverse, successfully disrupting Cotton’s offensive rhythm.

At the same time, Yu Bao opened his mouth, and wind and sand began to gather around him.

It was the wind-up for Sandstorm!

Cao Mingyu countered the move. ”Stick to the plan! Use Pure Water Shield!”

The situation was changing in an instant. He never expected to defeat Su Zhi just by getting the first move.

Now that he had lost the initiative, he wouldn’t hesitate for a second. Otherwise, he might lose the whole game over a small misstep!

’Yu Bao must be trying to use Sandstorm. It’s his only long-range Output Skill.’

’The skill’s damage output is high, but it’s an AoE, after all. Against a single target, it’s not quite enough!’

Cotton raised its head in perfect bilateral symmetry as a faint Water Shield materialized around it, enveloping it completely.

It wasn’t a particularly powerful Defense Skill, but against Sandstorm, it should be enough...

WHOOSH!

The next second, both Cao Mingyu and his Pet Beast stared wide-eyed.

What swept toward Cotton wasn’t an overwhelming cloud of dust, but a compact and potent mass of sand as sharp as a Battle Saber—a Sand Blade!

SHIING!

The high-frequency vibrating Furious Sand Blade cleanly pierced through the Pure Water Shield and flew toward the unsuspecting Wave White.

Cotton quickly ducked to dodge, but it felt a chill on its back. A strip of fur along its spine had been shaved clean off, revealing pink flesh underneath.

Cao Mingyu: ”?”

Cotton: ”???”

’Wasn’t it supposed to be Sandstorm? What the hell is this? I’ve never seen this before!’

WOOF!

Yu Bao had already launched another Furious Sand Blade. The Battle Saber-shaped mass of sand was far more sudden and swift than the wide-area Sandstorm!

Cotton wasn’t used to the rhythm of this unfamiliar skill. Compounded by its larger size, it failed to dodge this time, and its flank was viciously scraped by the Furious Sand Blade.

”WHIMPER!” (Oww, that really hurts!)

”Stay calm! Heal with Bathing Light Water Healing!”

Cao Mingyu, after all, was a well-informed student from the top class; he quickly regained his composure.

As the Wave White’s body began to glow, the wound carved out by the Furious Sand Blade healed, leaving only the patch of bare flesh to show where it had been injured.

The Wave White’s Core Skill, Bathing Light Water Healing, was a Water and Light Element Middle Elite Skill. It could repair injuries while temporarily boosting its own Energy Value, making it a powerful enhancement-type Core Skill!

Cao Mingyu commanded decisively, ”Release White Mist! Humidify the air! Keep your front paws symmetrical, tail on the central axis, and don’t tilt your head!”

The field was instantly filled with white vapor, becoming hazy and dreamlike, as if one had stepped into a wonderland.

”Yu Bao, how do you feel?”

”Woof...” (The Earth Force Field has weakened. It’s really hard to control the dust...)

Su Zhi felt this was just as tricky as his match against Fang Yuan.

Zhou Shengfa had once mentioned an upcoming intra-team competition, and Su Zhi had analyzed Liu Yuhang’s Hao Waterfowl. The skill he had worried about most was White Mist.

White Mist had a coverage area no smaller than Earth Force Field. The high-humidity air could quickly dampen the dust and cause it to settle, greatly diminishing the effectiveness of Yu Bao’s Earth Force Field.

With their energy levels being so close, it would be difficult for Yu Bao to escape the White Mist. He was destined to fight in the hazy fog.

Cao Mingyu pulled out a pair of sunglasses and quickly put them on. ”Cotton, lock onto the opponent’s position! Flash plus High-pressure Water Gun!”

WOOF!

The Wave White’s body instantly lit up with a blinding glare, like a flashbang.

Yu Bao was so dazzled he squeezed his eyes shut, his vision turning completely black. Outside the ring, Su Zhi was also affected, feeling dizzy and disoriented.

’Speaking of which, does this count as attacking a Beast Tamer?’

WHOOSH!

Cotton quickly locked onto Yu Bao’s position. In its Perception, Yu Bao, enveloped in the White Mist, stood out as if highlighted.

Cotton opened its mouth and activated the Water Element High Level Extraordinary Skill, High-pressure Water Gun.

A Tier Two High-pressure Water Gun possessed a powerful, rotating current of water. An ordinary Pet Beast of the Same Tier couldn’t block it at all. Even if they managed to barely resist, they would be blasted straight out of the arena!

Yu Bao’s vision hadn’t recovered yet. Or rather, in such low visibility, recovering his sight wouldn’t be much use anyway.

Relying on his hearing, Yu Bao roughly determined the direction of the High-pressure Water Gun’s attack and used Desert Concealment to dodge.

He could even feel the surging column of water pass through his body right as it dissolved into wind and sand, striking the area outside the ring.

But the instant he landed, another powerful jet of water followed close behind.

Yu Bao’s reaction time was pushed to its absolute limit. He could only keep using Desert Concealment to dodge again and again...
