Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Brother Fu number two, Wang Zihao, stepped into the ring.

His Pet Beast was a horrifying, basketball-sized eyeball covered in a dense mass of flesh-colored tentacles—

[Pet Beast: Terror Demon (Eye of Fear)]

[Attribute: Mental Element]

[Race: Middle Elite]

[Real-time Energy Value: 181]

This type of Pet Beast had an unsettling appearance and was also powerful, making it highly sought after by many Cthulhu enthusiasts.

”So you’re my opponent?”

Seeing that Class Ten was actually sending out a dime-a-dozen Yu Dian Dog, Wang Zihao smiled and raised an eyebrow.

’Perhaps Class Ten thought that with Shao Ya on their side, they could win without a third round, so they just sent out some random person for the third match.’

’This little strategy of ours must have caught them completely off guard!’

However, Su Zhi just stood there with his hands in his pockets, looking spaced out, as if he hadn’t even heard him.

And his Little Yu Dian Dog: ⌓‿⌓

The Eye of Fear & Wang Zihao: ”...?”

’Damn it, this dog is so arrogant!’

”Su Zhi is communicating with Yu Bao through the Beast Taming Space. They’re probably discussing tactics.”

Shao Ya’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. ”But the Eye of Fear has a strong Control Field ability. Once you’re caught, it’s basically over. This battle won’t be easy.”

Seeing the combatants for the third round, many in the crowd showed expressions of pity.

The first two rounds had been spectacular. Liu Yuhang’s performance as a tragic hero in the second round, in particular, had won him countless fans. Some people were even spamming the school’s confession wall about him.

Even so, it seemed impossible for Class Ten to rewrite their fate of certain defeat...

Huh? Wait a minute.

A Real-time Energy Value of 219?

This silly little dog’s stats are outrageous!

The students who scanned Yu Bao all cried out in surprise.

At this, Class Nine, which had been so sure of their victory, suddenly started to panic a little.

”Little bro! This guy’s no pushover! Don’t you dare underestimate him!” Wang Zijie shouted from back with the Class Nine team.

Wang Zihao, who was already glaring at Yu Bao with annoyance, nodded forcefully.

’Yu Bao’s Energy Value is a bit high, but not high enough to dominate the battle like Xiaoyue could.’

’Playing the underdog, huh?’

’I won’t give you the chance!’

”Terror Demon! Deterrent Light Wave!”

”SKREEE!”

Following a piercing shriek, the Eye of Fear’s eye suddenly snapped wide open.

To the onlookers, the field appeared perfectly calm.

But Yu Bao, as if sensing something approaching, dodged with a sideways roll.

”!?” Wang Zihao froze on the spot.

Only then did he notice the specks of dirt floating abnormally in the air around the Yu Dian Dog.

The Deterrent Light Wave was an invisible form of energy, but it still produced a certain amount of force and impact as it traveled.

’So this little dog used the floating dirt particles to judge the trajectory of the Terror Demon’s attack?’

’So, this Skill is...’

’Earth Force Field???’

”Fuck! What kind of psycho is this!” Wang Zihao couldn’t help but curse.

Yu Bao: ⌓‿⌓

Wang Zihao’s fists clenched.

”Keep up the pressure with Deterrent Light Wave! Coordinated tentacle assault!”

”SKREEE!” (Die, you stinking little dog!)

The giant eyeball continuously blinked open and shut in a strangely hypnotic way, but no one doubted the power of the Deterrent Light Wave.

If a Pet Beast with low Perception was hit, it would be instantly paralyzed on the spot.

Immediately after, the Eye of Fear’s tentacles would wrap the opponent in layer after layer, just like spider silk.

This was exactly how wild Terror Demons hunted their prey!

However, Yu Bao’s performance was completely unexpected.

Facing the Eye of Fear’s two-pronged assault, it moved and dodged with ease.

The Deterrent Light Wave, which had a slight wind-up animation, couldn’t hit it at all. And while the tentacles were more agile and swift, they struggled to encircle it, allowing Yu Bao to break free several times.

Wang Zihao’s palms grew slightly sweaty.

’This Yu Dian Dog is definitely no joke. Its Skills are a bit strange, but its base Attributes are very high—especially its Agility!’

’Could it be that Class Ten saw this coming and prepared a counter?’

”Yes! It’s the same old routine!”

Liu Yuhang, watching from the sidelines, looked thrilled.

”This is how Yu Bao thrashed Xue Li on Saturday!”

”QAQ” Xue Li, who had just woken up in his arms, fainted again.

’Waaah... so embarrassing... I should just play dead...’

”It’s not that simple.”

Shao Ya shook her head. ”The Eye of Fear has many tentacles, leaving it with almost no defensive blind spots. It’s one thing to maintain a stalemate, but if Yu Bao tries to move in for the finishing blow, he’ll actually be at a disadvantage.”

”Oof, that’s a good point.”

Liu Yuhang’s expression grew grim again.

”Looks like Brother Shu is in for it... Huh? Class President, you’re not worried?”

He was just about to let his mood sink, but then he noticed that Shao Ya, in contrast, looked completely relaxed.

”Nope.”

”But didn’t you just say the Eye of Fear is tough to deal with?”

”I did.”

The girl’s azure eyes reflected the image of Su Zhi’s Envoy’s Pet on the ring.

”But my gut tells me... Su Zhi will win!”

Back in the ring, Yu Bao had already maneuvered close to the Eye of Fear.

The angle of Yu Bao’s movements grew wider, and the density of the Eye of Fear’s tentacles increased in response. The battle between them was reaching a fever pitch.

Eye of Fear: ”SKREEE...” (My eye’s getting a little sore...)

It had already fired off Deterrent Light Wave several times, and its eyelid was about to cramp from all the blinking.

”Reduce the frequency. It’s meant as a deterrent. The threat of an unfired wave is more significant than one that’s already been launched,” Wang Zihao transmitted via the Beast Taming Space.

As the frequency of the Deterrent Light Wave attacks lessened, the Eye of Fear’s condition recovered, allowing it to concentrate more on using its tentacles.

Facing tentacles that were now noticeably faster, Yu Bao could only circle from a distance, unable to take a single step closer.

Wang Zihao breathed a sigh of relief.

’This is the disadvantage of commoner Pet Beasts—in the early stages of being raised, they have almost no strategic Skills that can turn the tide of a battle.’

’He had to admit, this Yu Dian Dog’s performance was excellent, just like the Hao Waterfowl in the previous round.’

’But this is as far as they’ll go...’

KRAK!

A chunk of the concrete floor beneath the Eye of Fear suddenly cracked and slammed viciously into the giant eyeball.

”SKREEE!!!”

The Eye of Fear let out a wretched shriek as tears streamed from it.

It literally got a brick in its eye.

Wang Zihao suddenly started to panic.

’This Yu Dian Dog’s Earth Force Field isn’t Quasi Tier Two... it’s True Tier Two! It can already alter the terrain!’

”Yu Bao!”

Su Zhi took a deep breath, his expression suddenly turning solemn.

”Use Vajra Earthquake Wave on it!”

”Woof!”

Yu Bao lifted its front paws and struck the pose of the Holy Fire Cat Cat Sect.

”What the hell!?” Wang Zihao’s eyes widened in utter disbelief.

’A High Level Commander Skill, the strongest ground-based AoE, Vajra Earthquake Wave?’

’His Yu Dian Dog knows that too?!’

”Terror Demon! Quick, get in the air! You can’t stay on the ground!”

With no time to think, Wang Zihao hastily commanded the Eye of Fear to leap into the air and dodge.

”SKREEE!”

Its vision still not fully recovered, the Eye of Fear had no choice but to frantically launch itself into mid-air with its tentacles.

However, the instant the Terror Demon was airborne, Yu Bao rapidly closed the distance and leaped up in pursuit.

There was no sign of the Vajra Earthquake Wave.

Wang Zihao’s eyelid twitched violently.

’Son of a bitch, he tricked me!’

”SKREEE!” (A pointless struggle!)

Its vision restored in mid-air, the Eye of Fear extended all of its tentacles toward Yu Bao.

Yu Bao raised its right leg, powering up for a kick in what looked like an all-or-nothing gamble.

The tentacles blocked off all its escape routes.

Yu Bao had one chance to strike, at most. After that single attack, it was certain to be ensnared by the Terror Demon’s tentacles.

Everyone held their breath, watching the scene unfold.

Wang Zihao inwardly breathed a sigh of relief.

’The Yu Dian Dog’s desperate, all-in attack probably won’t be enough to finish off my Terror Demon. But after that, my Terror Demon can use its tentacles and Deterrent Light Wave to bog it down.’

’It looks incredibly tense, but actually, the match is already—’

THWUMP!

Before the stunned eyes of Brother Fu number two, Wang Zihao, the Terror Demon traced a graceful parabola through the air and flew out of the ring.

”Woof!” (We won!)

Yu Bao spun around in a circle excitedly.

’No, wait.’

’My Beast Tamer said winning or losing isn’t important. I have to be calm!’

So, Yu Bao offered a polite smile and a nod to its opponent: ⌓‿⌓

’You were great, too!’

CRACKLE.

Wang Zihao was petrified on the spot.

Su Zhi, meanwhile, gazed at the attribute allocation panel, a silent smile on his face—

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Dog)

Agility: 1.07

Intelligence: 1.09

Constitution: 1.02

Perception: 1.04

[Real-time Energy Value: 251]

’Adding points mid-battle... that feels a little dirty... Ahem, but it’s not a big deal.’
