A pungent, fishy stench wafted past Su Zhi. Before he could even react, he was already on the ground.

”Are you okay?” Shao Ya shouted, having dropped to the ground beside him.

’I’m fine, my butt just hurts a little from the fall...’ Su Zhi nodded.

After confirming they were both unharmed, the two quickly got to their feet and turned their eyes to their ambusher—

[Exotic Beast: sand wolf (Wild)

Attribute: Earth Element, Wind Element

Race: High Level Extraordinary

Real-time Energy Value: 1120]

Su Zhi frowned slightly upon seeing the scan results.

’This sand wolf’s Energy Value is a bit higher than Yu Bao’s and Xiaoyue’s combined!’

Although Energy Value wasn’t everything, dealing with it in a fight would be a huge hassle.

The pale-yellow-furred sand wolf, its ambush having failed, landed five or six meters away on their right flank.

He, too, was sizing them up with his deep brown eyes.

His eyes held not only frustration at his failed attack but also a sense of exasperated speechlessness.

’It was the first time he’d ever seen someone take out their own teammate to foil an ambush...’

”WHINE!”

The Little Black Fighting Emperor yelped, trembling all over, and quickly hid behind Su Zhi and Shao Ya.

Xiaoyue and Yu Bao also rushed over, shielding their respective Beast Tamers.

”WOOF! WOOF!”

Yu Bao barked threateningly at the sand wolf, but his eyes glinted with self-blame.

He had clearly activated his Earth Force Field, yet he still hadn’t detected the sand wolf lying in wait nearby.

The sand wolf licked his lips, his gaze sweeping over the group as if weighing the risks and rewards of the hunt.

”ROAR!”

A moment later, the sand wolf shot up from the ground, kicking up a whirlwind as he pounced toward the Envoy’s Pets.

’A couple of little cubs are nothing to fear!’

Su Zhi and Shao Ya tensed up instantly.

Their Special Training Suits could block attacks from any race below the Elite level, but no one could guarantee there wouldn’t be an accident.

They were mentally prepared for the possibility of being injured.

However, what happened next was something neither Su Zhi nor the sand wolf had expected.

Facing a sand wolf whose combat power was several times his own, Yu Bao charged forward without hesitation and slammed a powerful kick into the wolf’s side.

The sand wolf never imagined a stupid little dog would dare to attack him first.

The kick was powerful. A sharp pain shot through the sand wolf’s abdomen, and the blow sent his stomach churning violently.

Wincing in pain, the sand wolf’s gaze turned exceptionally ferocious as he raised a forepaw and snagged Yu Bao.

’He’d changed his mind. He would start with this stupid little dog as an appetizer!’

Facing the sand wolf’s gaping maw, Yu Bao instinctively squeezed his eyes shut—

”CRACK—”

The sharp teeth were not stained with the Little Yu Dian Dog’s blood.

The sand wolf’s eyes widened in surprise, staring at the thick vine that seemed to have materialized out of thin air and thrust itself into his mouth.

At the same time, several pale green Light Arrays materialized around him.

More vines erupted from the Light Arrays, binding the sand wolf tightly.

The Huajing Cat’s Core Skill, a Wood High Level Extraordinary Skill—Vine Fury.

Summoning Multiple Vines simultaneously—this was already Tier Two Skill Level!

The sand wolf shot a glare at Xiaoyue in the distance.

”CRUNCH!”

Immediately after, another sharp pain shot through his forepaw.

The Little Yu Dian Dog, having narrowly escaped death, wasn’t struggling to get away. Instead, he bit down hard on the wolf’s paw!

”ROAR!” The sand wolf roared in anger and pain, releasing his paw.

”WOOF!” Now free, Yu Bao showed no fear and roared right back.

Simultaneously, the ground collapsed, and the sand wolf fell into a pit nearly a meter deep.

Several slap-shaped chunks of earth flew into the air and smacked repeatedly against the sand wolf’s face.

The sand wolf ground his teeth with a CRUNCH.

Immediately after, waves of white energy instantly enveloped the pit, as well as a portion of the area outside it.

Although Yu Bao retreated quickly, he was still grazed by several waves of white energy, and his body was instantly covered in gushing blood.

The vines that had bound the sand wolf were all sliced apart by the waves of energy.

A Wind Element Middle Extraordinary Skill, Wind Blade!

”AWOOOO!”

The enraged sand wolf leaped out of the pit. A pale yellow energy flowed from his paws into the ground.

Next, the surrounding dirt and gravel were swept up, spiraling rapidly in the grip of the airflow.

The dust and sand blotted out the sun.

The moment before the Sandstorm hit, Su Zhi and Shao Ya dashed to their Pet Beasts, shielding them tightly with their own bodies...

Even wearing his Special Training Suit, Su Zhi could feel the terrifying power of the Sandstorm.

’Yu Bao and Xiaoyue would never have been able to withstand this attack.’

Without the suits, he and Shao Ya would have been torn to shreds. Fortunately, they only suffered minor cuts on their exposed skin from the flying debris and were otherwise unharmed.

Once the storm dissipated, the two of them quickly got up.

’I don’t see the Little Black Fighting Emperor. It probably got scared and ran off.’

”Yu Bao! Yu Bao, are you okay?”

Su Zhi quickly patted the blood-soaked Yu Bao.

”WOOF!” (I’m fine, it’s just a scratch!)

Yu Bao nodded emphatically.

Although the amount of blood was frightening, Yu Bao had only been grazed by a few Wind Blades and wasn’t seriously injured.

The sand wolf was clearly stunned, not having expected the two humans to be able to block his killing move.

Immediately, his gaze turned ferocious again.

’Even so, that pair of Envoy’s Pets has no way of dealing with me.’

’And I still have ways to finish them off!’

”HUFF! HUFF!”

Seeing the sand wolf’s aggressive intent, Yu Bao immediately jumped in front of Su Zhi, baring his teeth at the wolf.

Half of the Little Yu Dian Dog’s face was stained red with blood, which paradoxically made him look even more ferocious.

As they faced off, Yu Bao’s mind was racing—

’The sand wolf just used Sandstorm, a skill I haven’t mastered yet.’

’How do I fill that missing piece?’

’Sand wolf... a Dual Attribute of Earth and Wind...’

’Deserts are generally very windy...’

’Wind Blade...’

’That’s it! Wind!’

”WOOF WOOF!” (Xiaoyue! Use Vine Fury again! I have an idea!)

Yu Bao quickly communicated with Xiaoyue.

Xiaoyue nodded firmly. ”MEOW!” (Be careful!)

Several pale green Light Arrays appeared once more, and vines again wrapped around the sand wolf.

This was normally a skill used by adult Huajing Cats; for Xiaoyue, still a cub, to have reached a Tier Two Skill Level was already remarkable.

However, to the sand wolf, the Effect of this move was still rather pathetic.

The sand wolf let out a contemptuous sneer as waves of white energy began to form around him.

’All I have to do is slice them apart with Wind Blade again.’

However, the unexpected happened:

Yu Bao actually charged to the edge of the Wind Blade’s attack range and raised his front paws high.

”WOOF WOOF WOOF WOOF...”

”Yu Bao, come back!”

Su Zhi was about to instinctively force-recall Yu Bao to his Beast Taming Space.

Then, his eyes widened in astonishment:

Under Yu Bao’s control, the surrounding dirt and gravel swirled up, churning and spiraling around him to form a vortex.

Unlike the light, floating rotation from before, this one had the ferocity of a real storm!

This was a true Sandstorm!

Staring at the Sandstorm—which, like Yu Bao, was small in scale but ferocious in power—the sand wolf’s eyes widened in horror.

”BOOM!!!”

A massive blast of sand and wind slammed down, knocking over both the sand wolf and the nearby bushes.

After a moment of silence, the sand pile was pushed aside from within, and the disheveled sand wolf crawled out, howling.

Taking a Sandstorm head-on at such close range had left even him badly injured.

He had lost an eye, and his body was covered in bloody patches where the sand had blasted him.

”ROAR!!”

The sand wolf’s rage burned to its peak.

’Today, I’m going to kill every last one of them! None of them are leaving here alive!’

Just then, the bushes behind the two pairs rustled.

”WHINE!” (I’m back!)

The Little Black Fighting Emperor leaped out.

”AWOOO!!!” The sand wolf’s fury didn’t subside; in fact, it grew even stronger.

’Forget this Little Black Fighting Emperor—even if an adult Black Fighting Emperor were here, I’d kill them all!’

”RUSTLE—”

”...”

The sand wolf froze, staring at the two adult Black Fighting Emperors that emerged right behind the little one. They were two meters tall, nearly ten meters long, and their gazes were menacing.

A heavy shadow fell over the sand wolf.

Sand wolf: (ºДº)

’I have to admit,’ he thought, ’I might have been a little too loud just now...’
