Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

The outdoor Special Training Suit is woven from a blend of Devil Moth and Cyan Armor Spider silk.

This uniform has impressive Defense Power, provides warmth, dries quickly, and comes with a tracking device. It’s essential gear issued to students of Beast Taming High School for outdoor field training.

If Su Zhi didn’t have this suit, he might not have made it back in one piece.

Of course, even with the suit, throwing a first-year rookie into the deep, untamed wilderness would be a recipe for disaster.

The so-called ”field training” actually takes place within a controlled area.

This time, the location is the wild Exotic Beast Protection Area on the outskirts of Huai City. The terrain is mainly jungle and mountains, but it also has plenty of rivers and small lakes, basically meeting the needs of Pet Beasts of all attributes.

The wild Pet Beasts here are specially bred by the Common Defense Alliance. Their strength is not very high, so it’s unlikely that students will lose their lives just by getting a bit of training.

Beside the school bus, Class 10 stood in formation.

Their homeroom teacher, Zhou Shengfa, once again emphasized the key points—

”This field training session will last for one day, ending at noon on Friday. There are no special requirements. The most important thing is for everyone to ensure their own safety.”

”Of course, any resources you gather during this period will be yours to keep. Your Pet Beasts’ performance in all aspects will also be used as a basis for updating the Pet Beast Ranking and for selections for the city tournament qualifiers.”

”Lastly, I’ll say it again: the most important thing is your safety!”

After speaking, Zhou Shengfa left with the organizing committee.

According to the field training regulations, teachers are not allowed to participate in the training alongside students.

They will protect the students’ safety in another way, from the shadows.

”So, should we team up?”

Shao Ya cracked her knuckles. ”You need to find Earth Element resources, and Xiaoyue needs Wood Element resources. The chances of those two types of resources spawning together are pretty high.”

”Works for me.”

Su Zhi nodded. ”The city tournament has 2v2s, right? We can treat this as practice.”

A corner of Shao Ya’s mouth lifted. ”Brother Shu is already aiming for the city tournament? What place are you targeting?”

”Haven’t thought about it. It’s enough to just enjoy the process of competing,” Su Zhi said.

”Compared to that, I think it’s more important to challenge strong opponents, gain experience, and become stronger.”

’And rake in some more Points while I’m at it.’

”Woof!” (Get stronger! Get stronger!)

Yu Bao bounced excitedly, now circling Su Zhi, now running off and dashing back.

A slight smile appeared on Su Zhi’s face as well.

The spirited Yu Bao was back.

”Not bad! Full of spirit!”

Shao Ya clapped Su Zhi soundly on the shoulder. ”Then let’s work hard together!”

”OOF—” Su Zhi stumbled, nearly losing his balance.

The stronger the Pet Beast, the more its various enhancements are fed back to the Beast Tamer.

That slap from the Great Emperor nearly sent him straight to the story’s finale...

·

There were naturally no resources on the outskirts of the Exotic Beast Protection Area.

To find anything worthwhile, they had to go deeper into the protection area, which was also where Exotic Beasts were more active.

Yu Bao volunteered to walk at the very front, acting as the vanguard.

Su Zhi followed just behind and to the side of Yu Bao. If Yu Bao couldn’t win a fight, he could still pull him back.

Then... he could just leave it to Emperor Shao and Xiaoyue.

As the two pairs went deeper, the canopy of branches and leaves grew denser.

The once-solid sheets of sunlight gradually grew sparse, until only scattered spots of light dotted the ground.

According to the map on their Beast Tamer-exclusive devices, there was a chance of finding the Tier One Wood Resource Thousand-Year Leaf and the Tier One Earth Element resource, Yellow Earth Crystal, in this area.

Both resources were of high quality, perfectly suited to the needs of their respective Pet Beasts.

”Woof!”

Yu Bao suddenly stopped and let out a warning bark toward a thicket of bushes.

A Yu Dian Dog’s sense of smell is very keen. To him, the creature hiding in the bushes was as clear as if it were highlighted with x-ray vision.

The group came to a halt.

With a RUSTLE RUSTLE sound, a dark mass leaped out of the bushes.

”Chrr!”

It was a Unihorn Ant with a massive horn like a longsword, its entire body clad in black armor plating.

Su Zhi scanned it with his phone—

[Exotic Beast: Black Fighting Emperor (Wild)

Attributes: Wood Element, Fighting Element

Race: Middle Elite

Real-time Energy Value: 201]

The Fighting Element is rather special compared to other Attributes. If a certain Race becomes accustomed to surviving in frequent combat, it’s possible for them to evolve this Attribute.

Generally speaking, Fighting Element Races are fierce and warlike, and they often possess the strongest melee capabilities of their level!

”Eek!” (N-No, don’t come any closer!)

The Black Fighting Emperor trembled and took two steps back.

Su Zhi: ”...”

Shao Ya: ”...”

*Fierce and Warlike*

However, there are always individual differences among Pet Beasts, just like how Yu Bao dislikes practicing Rock-Breaking Teeth.

This particular Black Fighting Emperor was a bit of a coward, which seemed understandable?

Yu Bao’s eyes, on the other hand, were burning with excitement.

’I can’t believe I get to fight on the very first day! And look at this guy, he comes with his own armor and sword. He must be a pro.’

’I crave a worthy opponent!’

’Let’s have a good fight!’

The Black Fighting Emperor kept backing away, but weighed down by his shell of armor, he couldn’t move fast. He was so scared he was trembling.

’Don’t you come over here!’

”Alright, Yu Bao, stop scaring him.”

Su Zhi grabbed Yu Bao by the scruff of his neck and pulled him back.

The Black Fighting Emperor is a fairly expensive and rare Pet Beast, a tier pricier than the Thorn Armor Dragon and the Eye of Fear. Even your average rich kid can’t afford to form a contract with one.

A Pet Beast like that couldn’t possibly appear in a place like this.

Plus, looking at his small size, he had probably run away from his habitat for some reason and ended up here.

The Little Black Fighting Emperor pitifully cowered in front of the bushes, not daring to move an inch.

”Don’t be afraid. We’re good people, we won’t hurt you,” Su Zhi said to the Black Fighting Emperor.

”Mhm~” Shao Ya smiled gently.

Xiaoyue:

Yu Bao: ⌓‿⌓

Black Fighting Emperor: QAQ

’Really? But you guys don’t look like good people...’

”Don’t worry, my Pet Beast means no harm, he just wants to spar with you a bit. With so many of us here, if we wanted to mess you up, we would have done it already.”

”Woof woof!” (Yeah, yeah! Let’s just have a quick match!)

Yu Bao wagged his tail, looking both harmless and eager.

The Black Fighting Emperor scratched his head with one of his insect-like legs.

’If it’s just a quick match, I guess it wouldn’t be so bad.’

”...Chrr!” (Then you’ll let me go after we spar!)

”Deal,” Su Zhi said with a snap of his fingers.

The Black Fighting Emperor didn’t stand on ceremony and lunged directly at Yu Bao.

Wild Pet Beasts attack whenever they please. What do they know of Martial Virtue?

Of course, Su Zhi and Yu Bao were also prepared.

Su Zhi had already had Yu Bao activate his Earth Force Field ahead of time. Yu Bao caught his opponent’s attacking intent and quickly ducked to dodge.

”SWISH—”

The sword-like horn sliced through the fragmented sunlight, leaving a bright trail in the air.

At the same time, using his superior agility, Yu Bao raised his legs and kicked the Black Fighting Emperor with a Rabbit-Kicks-the-Eagle move.

With 1.07 Power, this move was a very strong attack for a young Pet Beast.

If he had kicked a Hao Waterfowl, the battle would have been over.

However, the Black Fighting Emperor wasn’t some squishy back-liner, but a being of ”Extreme Attack and Defense”!

The thick carapace negated most of the power from Yu Bao’s attack. The Black Fighting Emperor tilted forward slightly, but suffered no substantial damage.

He raised his horn to adjust his center of gravity and landed steadily.

Yu Bao seized the opportunity, maintained the offensive, closed in on the Black Fighting Emperor, and unleashed another ferocious two-legged kick.

Just as the kick was about to land, the Black Fighting Emperor’s carapace suddenly began to glow.

The instant the kick connected, Yu Bao only felt a powerful force act upon his hind legs.

Then, Yu Bao shuddered violently and was sent flying backward, as if he’d been hit by a Divine Luo Celestial Expedition.
