Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

After being busy all day Saturday, Su Zhi could finally get a good night’s sleep on Sunday—

”WOOF WOOF WOOF!” (Train hard! Defeat big brother!)

SPLAT.

—or so he thought.

Su Zhi was already used to it... He had to get up whether he wanted to or not.

Wang Sujuan called out from a distance, ”Xiaoshu! Yu Bao is out of pet food, go buy some.”

”Okay.”

”Woof?” Yu Bao was about to continue training when he noticed Su Zhi had gotten dressed.

Su Zhi bent down to tie his shoelaces. ”I’m going out to buy you some tasty treats. Want to come with me, Yu Bao?”

Yu Bao thought for a moment, then shook his head decisively.

’There were only eighteen days left until the city league tournament. Go buy tasty treats? How could I possibly eat at a time like this?’

’For these eighteen days, I’ll prepare for the city league tournament like I’m preparing for the college entrance exams!’

’I like your spirited attitude, but I’m not a fan of you waking me up...’ Su Zhi smiled helplessly and could only nod in agreement.

”Alright, let me assign your Points for you. I was too busy yesterday and forgot to do it.”

”WOOF!” (Yay!)

Yu Bao was so excited he spun around in place.

Yu Bao’s Saturday had been quite eventful: he lost to big brother Xiaoyue in a small test, defeated a Cyan Feathered Falcon and had an epiphany about Desert Concealment, got flattened by a giant Wanzi... and even did an extra night of training after returning to the neighborhood.

It was safe to say the intensity had been very high.

And the Points he had reaped were also quite a lot—a full 0.15!

Su Zhi thought for a moment and quickly distributed the points according to his established plan—

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Dog)]

Power: 1.10

Agility: 1.15

Intelligence: 1.17

Constitution: 1.10

Perception: 1.22

Assignable Attribute Points: 0.00]

[Real-time Energy Value: 421]

Looking at the soaring stats, Su Zhi felt a sense of sweet satisfaction.

He was starting to understand why girls liked to go on shopping sprees; this feeling of blowing all your savings at once was truly exhilarating.

Su Zhi distributed the Points by adding 0.04 each to Agility, Intelligence, and Perception, and used the remaining 0.03 to supplement Power, which was currently the lowest.

The Real-time Energy Value reached 421!

In Class 10, this was easily in the top 0.5. Even in the entire grade, it was at least in the top 40!

”Woof...” Yu Bao’s eyes widened in surprise.

’It feels like... I’ve gotten stronger again!’

Unable to wait, he climbed to the top of the bookshelf again and leaped off.

Activating Desert Concealment, Yu Bao instantly reached the windowsill!

But that wasn’t all. The moment he reached the windowsill, the sand and wind actually reversed direction and shot back.

Yu Bao reverted to his original form in mid-air and landed on the bedcovers.

”WOOF WOOF!” (Hey! I did it!)

A delighted Yu Bao climbed back onto the bookshelf to do it again...

Su Zhi watched, dumbfounded.

At Tier One, Desert Concealment is equivalent to a one-way Positional Skill. The ability to reverse direction is a sign that its Skill Level has reached Quasi Tier Two.

Yu Bao had only just mastered Desert Concealment yesterday; logically, he shouldn’t have reached Tier Two so quickly.

However, that judgment was based on the training methods prescribed by the course curriculum.

A Skill that Yu Bao comprehended on his own would be understood much more deeply than one learned by just copying an example.

It’s like learning math: simply memorizing a formula is hard to remember, but if you invent or derive the formula from scratch, it’s hard to forget.

Moreover, Yu Bao had used the Skill in a real battle right after comprehending it, and had trained extensively after returning home, immediately placing the new Skill in a high-frequency usage environment.

With the right time, the right place, and the right people all aligned, plus the boost from the newly assigned points, he achieved the feat of reaching Tier Two in a single day!

Yu Bao then showed Su Zhi his Earth Force Field and Sandstorm.

—Of course, he demonstrated them out the open window, because redecorating the bedroom would cost about 900 pounds and 15 Pence.

After watching, however, Su Zhi scratched his head.

’It seems like their Power is just a bit greater, and his control over the Earth Element is a bit smoother?’

In short, the progress wasn’t as obvious as with Desert Concealment, and there were no signs of the Skill Level increasing.

But Su Zhi didn’t mind.

Every seemingly insignificant improvement before had eventually led to a pleasant surprise.

’Who knows what surprise this one will bring?’

”Xiaoshu? Aren’t you leaving yet?”

”Oh, going, going.”

’It’s like she can’t wait for me to leave...’ Su Zhi took out his phone and found Shao Ya.

[Su Zhi]: I have to go out this morning. You and Xiaoyue should just come straight to my place.

[Su Zhi]: If Yu Bao wants to go out and train, could you please look after him too?

[Shao Ya]: Are you abandoning Yu Bao? (Key element detected)

[Shao Ya]: Heh heh heh! Then I won’t be polite!

[Shao Ya]: A cute Dog like Yu Bao was born to be eaten up by his mommy /drool

[Su Zhi]: Xiaoyue: 6

”I’m leaving, Yu Bao. Big sister and Xiaoyue will keep you company this morning.”

”WOOF!” (Really? Then you should hurry up and go!)

Su Zhi: ”...”

On the bus.

After typing, Su Zhi thought it over and over before finally hitting send.

[”Senior Brother Piao” has received ”Yu Bao’s Specialized Skill Path 2.1”]

[Senior Brother Piao]: Not bad!

[Su Zhi]: ! Did it work this time?

[Senior Brother Piao]: No, but there were 11 fewer new bugs this time.

CRACK. Su Zhi felt himself break.

[Senior Brother Piao]: Ai, no need to be in such a hurry.

[Senior Brother Piao]: Didn’t your Yu Bao just learn Desert Concealment? Let him practice it for a couple of days.

[Senior Brother Piao]: That’s a Skill usually learned by Pet Beasts with high Elemental Perception and Agility. The affinity with a Yu Dian Dog isn’t that great.

[Senior Brother Piao]: Even if he has a little talent, it’ll still take him over a week to train it to Tier Two.

Su Zhi: ”...”

’He was probably the first Beast Tamer to ever be troubled because his Pet Beast was too strong.’

[Senior Brother Piao]: Anyway, take your time. This isn’t the kind of thing you can finish quickly after just one or two revisions.

[Su Zhi]: Alright.

His ”submission” rejected again, Su Zhi sighed and casually glanced around at the people on the bus.

This was his way of relaxing, turning his attention over to his surroundings.

The bus was filled with all sorts of people, and no shortage of strange and wonderful Pet Beasts.

However, what caught Su Zhi’s attention the most was a boy wearing the light gray uniform of Second High.

Su Zhi wasn’t gay. Although the boy was quite handsome, just a little less so than himself, he really wasn’t gay.

Su Zhi noticed he was carrying a heavy backpack and also had a suitcase in his hand.

’Looks like he just got back from out of town? Does that mean he’s a transfer student?’

Su Zhi thought of the city league tournament. ’It seems he’s here for that, too...’

”Stop the thief! Quick, stop the thief!”

A woman’s panicked shout broke Su Zhi out of his thoughts.

A man in a baseball cap was approaching the bus door. He froze for a second when he heard the shout, then quickly sped up.

The narrow bus instantly erupted into chaos.

Su Zhi instinctively reached to call the police, but the guy from Second High reacted faster, shoving his luggage at Su Zhi. ”Hold this for me!”

Su Zhi: ”Hey, wait—”

”CRACK!”

The thief’s strength was surprisingly great; he smashed the tempered glass door with a single punch and scrambled off the bus in a panic.

Su Zhi’s brow furrowed.

’To have that kind of physical ability... He’s a Beast Tamer!’

The boy from Second High didn’t hesitate for a second, chasing after him through the shattered door.

”Hold this for him!”

”Huh?”

Su Zhi grabbed a random passerby, shoved the luggage into their hands, and chased after them as well.

It wasn’t that he wanted to be a hero; he was worried the brother from Second High was going to get himself killed...
