Chapter 1915: Invasion (1)

Edelmirʼs body trembled in fear, using his shaky hands to support himself instead of falling off, his breathing was ragged as his chest was heaved up and down, obvious to the naked eyes, and his eyes shook, his pupils dilated as terror filled his eyes.

His eyes kept changing focus between the black-red sword above them and the manʼs eyes. He did not even know who the man was, but his people told him that this man was Lady Akhorʼs guest. The informants were those four dead people, the four people returned when he was with the Wicked Bladesʼ leader. In fact, this impromptu scheme was the Wicked Bladesʼ leaderʼs idea. The Wicked Bladesʼ leader sacrificed his subordinates for the scheme.

Edelmir did not think that much back then and executed the idea because it was a brilliant idea, a worthy sacrifice for their goal. There was no need for consideration because even if Lady Akhorʼs guest was a God Rank, it did not really matter. He was a God Rank, The Wicked Bladeʼs leader was a God Rank, and he had six more God Ranks. Even if the guest was a God Rank, it was easy to overwhelm the guest.

At least he thought so until he met the guest in person. Even though they were of the same rank, the man was clearly far above them. The gap between them was just too big for him to fall on his knees because of the manʼs aura.

Edelmirʼs gaze focused back to the guest. The man had a playful smile, looking at him with an amused gaze as if he were a toy. He never felt humiliated before, but there was nothing he could do. In this situation, he hoped Lady Akhor would come here sooner because only she could stop the man since he was her guest.

”Life for life, huh? Your people can say that after I kill you now, life for life.”

Edelmir saw the blades were coming down. They were not fast, moving slowly which made this whole ordeal more terrifying. It would be better if those blades just pierced him through and killed him right away.

”Enough!” A female voice echoed through the air.

Tang Shaoyang sensed someone was coming from his left and stopped not far from him. He looked up, at the same female officer who was accepted to the army, Lady Akhor.

”Give me a good reason to stop,” He stood up and faced the woman in the black uniform. Not just her, but she was followed by more people in the same uniform. ”For your information, I am quite petty. He wants to kill me, so I will kill him for that. I will not leave him just because of how weak he is.”

Lady Akhor was nervous deep inside. When she saw the situation from afar, she was shocked and her shock turned into concerns that slowly made her nervous. If this man could take down half of the God Ranks from the mercenary, he could also take down the army. The man was dangerous without a doubt, but he was also someone the town needed to fight the incoming invasion.

At this moment, Erna regained her composure and immediately stood behind her lady. However, her eyes were stuck on the man. She had never witnessed something like that. Even the revered figure in the capital, the strongest knight, could not achieve what this man did. He did not make a single move, but he managed to subdue several God Ranks.

”How about an assurance that no one will bother you again after all of this. Of course, we will also compensate you for what you have gone through. In exchange, you canʼt kill him, at least until the invasion is over. You can do whatever to him after we repel the invasion,” Lady Akhor compromised.

She also hated the mercenary commander, but she could see the bigger picture. If the mercenary commander died here, the remaining mercenaries would leave the town, knowing their lives were under threat.

At the same time, she also sent the message to Edelmir. She would buy him some time, but he had to fight for the town. If Tang Shaoyang did not kill him now, there was a chance for Edelmir to make an escape at the end. Edelmir would do anything for this chance.

”Oh, I am just playing around to spend my spare time while waiting for my assignment. I donʼt really want to kill him or the others,” Tang Shaoyang shrugged as the blades disappeared from the air, ”Whatʼs the fun of slaughtering helpless sheep?”

”What about those guys?” He pointed at the four dead bodies with his thumb, ”He tried to frame me for killing those guys. A poison? Do I need poison to kill those four?” He let out a chuckle.

Edelmirʼs nape hair stood when he heard the chuckle. He did not know when he recovered his strength, but he immediately stood up, ”Itʼs Werder! Werder killed his own subordinate to frame you, Sir.”

The mercenary commander was quite smart not to say the details to save a little bit of the reputation he had and just put out a name for people to blame. He seemed to know Lady Akhorʼs character. Even though this was a chance for her to take him down, she would not do it. She would prioritize the town, ensuring the people that the town was safe instead of continuing the conflict that would cause great unrest.

Zelie Linden Akhor immediately pulled Tang Shaoyang from the scene. There was something more important than Edelmir, and she needed to confirm something to put her mind at ease.

They returned to her residence, and she pulled Tang Shaoyang into her office, just her and Tang Shaoyang. Her guards expressed their concerns, especially after Erna told them what happened in the town square, but she insisted on just her and her guest.

Tang Shaoyang sat across from the princess and started to get bored. There was nothing interesting in the town. He checked the stores and the stalls. Thereʼs no interesting item to buy, or something worth his attention. If the God Ranks on this floor were that weak, he figured it out that they might not be a good class to buy or even a good bloodline.

He just wanted everything on this floor over and went to the next floor. It worked since he managed to pull the attention of the person in charge, the key figure that would help him to go to the next floor.

There was no mission or quest, and he figured it was something similar that his people encountered in the tower tutorial for the first ten floors in the Sky Level Dimensional Tower. Zhang Mengyao told him how they managed to clear the floor, win the war, and kill the king. The king or maybe someone equal to the king was the floor boss, or maybe a key figure like the abandoned princess, a commander of an army.

”You are a player, arenʼt you?” Zelie Linden Akhor asked in a solemn tone.

She had heard about these players that someday would come to their world and change their world. These players would break the balance of the main force and cause great chaos. That was what her family told her, or it was her grandfather to be exact.

That was the only explanation of how this man was so strong. There never was a God Rank overpowered another God Rank with just an aura. All the God Ranks were supposed to be equally powerful, but this man broke the balance, meaning he was one of the players who would break the balance.

”Your name is unique in our kingdom to be one of our people, and all God Ranks from the five kingdoms are recorded. Your name is not on the list.”

”Thatʼs right, I am a player, so letʼs not waste my time anymore. Tell me where this Giant and Orcʼs forces gather. I will wipe them out for you. I donʼt really have much time, and I donʼt want to stay in this place more than a day,” Tang Shaoyang did not need to hide anything from the princess. Being direct would help him to advance faster.

Zelie Linden Akhor would laugh at Tang if she did not witness what happened in the town square. She believed the man was more powerful than anyone else in the town.

”They are not far from the town, but it will take them quite some time to reach the town. We predicted they would arrive tomorrow in the morning because of the barrier we set up.”

”Just tell me where they are, and I will wipe them out…” His voice trailed off, furrowing his brow.

”Whatʼs wrong?” Lady Akhor was nervous when she saw the frown. The last thing she wanted was to have a player go on a rampage in the town she protected.

”No, nothing. Just tell me what to do. I will follow your procedure,” He let out a sigh.

[You have found the key figure for your quest. Follow her arrangement and complete the task given to you to advance to the next floor!]

That was the reason why he suddenly changed his mind. The quest came for him when he was not looking for it. The annoying part was that he must follow the arrangement, meaning he could not skip the quest.
