Armipotent

Chapter 1912: Lady Akhor

Tang Shaoyang opened his eyes and found himself standing within a line. There was a person with plate armor in front of him. The loud chatter filled his ear, the unpleasant odor assaulted his nose, the smell of someone who had not taken a bath for days. The smell did not just come from the person in front of him but from all the people around him.

He furrowed his brow, not expecting the smell would bother him this much. Maybe it had been a long time since he smelled the bad odor. Back then, when he was just a street thug, he smelled this kind of odor every day. In fact, this was not the worst one, but maybe because of his enhanced sense that made this worse.

He activated Chaos Eyes and assessed the surroundings. Through the birdʼs view vision, he quickly realized that he caught the attention of his surroundings. They were giving him a weird look and it did not take him long to find out. His outfit was the issue. Everyone wore armor, the worst one was leather armor, but he wore clothes, something that might not even exist in this place.

Tang Shaoyang ignored the gaze and scanned his surroundings, but before he could assess the surroundings properly, he was already in front of the table. Two men and a woman with a black uniform stood behind the table, the woman sat on the chair and the two men stood closely behind her. It told him that the woman might be a higher-ranked soldier than the two men who acted as a guard or escort.

The three officers furrowed their brow at the sight of him, having the same reactions as the others. He thought they would question his outfit or maybe kick him out of this place.

He might not have been able to find out where he was, but he could tell based on the clues around him. This was a barrack, and he was either conscripted or volunteered to join the army. At least, he believed that would be his background story on this floor.

He was familiar with this kind of scenario. To go to the next floor, he had to be a soldier and accomplish some feats. He had encountered something similar in the previous tower.

A sigh escaped his lips because he knew how troublesome this situation was. The army was authoritative. He must follow the orders from above, or he will be executed for insubordination, treason, or whatever his leader wanted to do with him.

”Name and rank?” The female officer asked in a strict voice.

”Tang and God Rank,” Tang Shaoyang replied.

The three officers were surprised when the rank was mentioned. Not just the three, but the others who were in the line were also surprised. It was as if they were not expecting a God Rank to be here.

”You know you will be executed if you lie to an official, right?” One of the escorts reminded Tang Shaoyang in a solemn tone. The male officer did not try to intimidate Tang Shaoyang, but a reminder out of kindness.

”You can…” Tang Shaoyang was about to say that he could use Detection on him, but he quickly realized that these people lost Detection skills the moment they entered this tower as a prison, ”…try to fight me if you donʼt believe me.”

The three officersʼ expressions changed for a moment, before quickly returning to neutral. They accepted his answer as the female officer continued with the interview, ”Whatʼs your class?”

”I canʼt tell you, itʼs a secret,” Tang Shaoyang was not that stupid to divulge his class. Not just because people might be wary of him, but because of other complications.

The female officer did not like the answer, and it was obvious from her expression, ”We need to know your class so we know where to place you, soldier.”

”I am good with the bow, but my best is close combat. That should give you a better idea of where to put me.”

He could tell them his second, third, or fourth class, but he could not really tell them. The thing that he was afraid of was that the high-ranking officer might fancy his class and try to extort him, asking him where got his class. If he told them they could not get the class, they might think he tried to keep the class for himself.

That would end ugly for him, they might frame him just to put him in jail so they could torture him to get information about his class. This was why he did not like an army, especially when he was just a lower-ranked soldier.

The female officer let out a sigh, ”We will give you temporary lodging while we decide your position. You will get your position in one or two days, and you will receive your assignment the following day.”

”Give him the empty room in my residence!” She told one of the escorts.

The two officersʼ expressions changed, and they did not like the decision, ”But—” They tried to protest, but the female officer dismissed them.

Tang Shaoyang followed the escort who was clearly annoyed at him, not just because of his attitude, but the main reason might be because the female officer let him stay in her residence. Now he thought about it, the female officer was quite beautiful, a valiant beauty.

Her eyes were sharp just like someone who had gone through many battles, something similar he found in Zhang Mengyao. The authoritative aura around her was also a clue that she was more than just a low-ranked officer. In conclusion, this escort might be jealous of him who could stay on one roof with the beauty.

Tang Shaoyang quickly put away the pointless thoughts as he assessed where he was. As he expected, he was in a barrack, and they were currently recruiting a large number of soldiers. This country or kingdom or whatever this place was, was about to go to war, a big war for them to conscript such a large army.

Aside from the people who were in line with him, he discovered a large number of soldiers escorting the prison wagon. He could tell what they tried to do, employing the criminals as soldiers. A risky and desperate move, but it gave him a clue that the human was in danger if they employed the criminal as well. They were in a situation where they had to use everything they had.

”Pardon!?” Tang Shaoyang snapped out as he heard the escort say something, but he did not pay attention to the escort and could not hear what the escort tried to say.

The escort stopped his steps and turned around with a dark expression, ”I donʼt care if you are a God Rank or not, but if you do something to Lady Akhor. The whole kingdom will hunt you down!”

Tang Shaoyang chuckled when the escort threatened him, ”You know, I donʼt plan to do anything with your Lady Akhor. But you changed my mind now. I want to do something for Lady Akhor now.”

”YOU—” The escort was about to raise his fist, but he stopped midway. His eyes widened in shock because Tangʼs index finger was on his forehead. Fear slowly crept out, gripping his heart.

”Pow! And you will be dead, but thatʼs not why I am here,” Tang Shaoyang shrugged and pulled his index finger, ”Stop with your useless attempt. Itʼs not me who asks your lady to stay in her residence, itʼs her decision. If you have something to complain about, say it to her. Your threat only encourages me to do something to your lady because I hate being threatened. Get it done and escort me to my room!”

The escort kept his mouth shut and led Tang Shaoyang to his room. The female officerʼs residence was a manor, a small one but still a manor. There was a pair of guards at the entrance, and the guards did not question them after seeing the escort. There was a butler who greeted them as they entered the manor and also a pair of servants with maid outfits behind the butler.

”This is Lady Akhorʼs guest, and he will stay here for two days,” The escort told the butler before coming closer to the butler, whispering to the butler that the guest was a God Rank. The escort reminded the butler to be careful but also watch him. After that, the escort left without saying anything to the guest.

The butler was an old man who looked like in his seventies. His hair had turned white, a lot of wrinkles on his face, but he was healthy and strong. He still stood straight, walking perfectly fine, and bowing his head did not hurt his waist, might be a Primordial Rank or even a Demi-God Rank. He was not surprised if this Lady Akhor had a Demi-God Rank butler.

With how the escort reacted, and her manor residence in a fort town like this, the female officer was a descendant of a high-ranking noble or even a royalty. Tang Shaoyang guessed the latter after he heard what the escort told him earlier. The whole kingdom would hunt him down, meaning she might be a princess.

”This is your room, Sir. If you need anything, you can call any servants, and they will try to satisfy your needs, anything, Sir,” The butler said without changing his expression.

”Have you had lunch, sir? Do you want to have lunch on the table or do you want your food delivered to your room?”

”I have my food. You donʼt need to worry about it, and I want to go to the market for something. I need someone to guide me,” Tang Shaoyang waved his hand dismissively at the old butler.

”Erna is familiar with the town, Sir. She will be a great help to you if you want to explore the town.”

The servant to the butlerʼs left stepped forward, bowing her head as she introduced herself, ”You can call me Erna, Sir. I was born and raised in this town. You can tell me what you are looking for, and I will help you find it.”
