Armed Train in the Apocalypse

By the time they reached Tier Four, the gap had been amplified to the point where Tier Four could easily crush Tier Three.

If they were in perfect condition, the two of them teaming up against this fierce tiger might have a thirty to forty percent chance of victory, but after fighting for two days, they appeared to be full of energy, yet they had actually expended most of their strength.

Facing a typical beast tide would be no problem, but when faced with one clearly led by a Tier Four Evolution Beast that was a Lord,

the odds were dire!

Without any warning, the two who had been fighting fiercely just moments ago immediately split up and fled in opposite directions.

The fierce tiger’s pupils contracted instantly, and with a leap, pounced to Ah Duo’s side, swiping her away with one paw, then quickly twisting its body, its tail swinging like a steel whip, instantly recomposing its balance, and leaped in front of Cheng Zhan, stood upright, and struck with both paws.

A metallic screech erupted on the shield, and with just two strikes, the shield Cheng Zhan held, made with Tier Three evolutionary materials and alloy, was scratched into a cat’s scratching post.

As Ah Duo was about to hit the ground, emerald lines appeared on her body, instantly enveloping her in rich life energy, repairing her previously more than sixty percent fractured bones, then she flipped and pressed a palm on the tiger’s huge head, slamming it down, and took the chance during its entanglement with Cheng Zhan to dash out.

”Roar!!!”

The wasteland was filled with the continuous roars of the tiger, as the stagnant wind and snow started to swirl again.

And the two Tier Four Evolvers, who had been dominating the snowy plains, were now turned from hunters to prey.

...

”Always respect the wilderness, respect life,” Fu Lanshan said with emotion, gazing at the wind and snow in front of him.

Fatty Ge, beside him, raised his eyelids and mercilessly exposed him, ”I recall your motto used to be ’Man can conquer nature’?”

”Oh? You even know this old man’s motto?”

Ge Mian sneered coldly, ”No one should pretend. Back when we ran companies, you often hired trolls to defame me.”

Fu Lanshan replied calmly, ”Didn’t you always call me out and insult me on social media?”

”You old fox refused to step down. How could us young folks have a shot if we didn’t take you down? Enough with the useless talk. This is a beast tide of four berserk Tier Four Evolution Beasts. Why are you getting involved? It’s not even about mending relationships; even if the train chief were here, he might not be able to stop it. Moreover, Deep Blue Data should already have its own Tier Four, right?”

Ge Mian spoke like a machine gun, with guesses and doubts streaming endlessly.

Fu Lanshan smiled lightly, ”It’s just commercial competition; there might be some less-than-honorable tactics, but the troll stuff wasn’t my doing; it was done by people under me. I’m too old to go online and insult people; it’s quite undignified.”

”Doesn’t matter. Anyway, Hua Zi and I gave your son a proper beating.”

Fu Lanshan’s originally smiling eyes suddenly widened, ”You little bastard...”

”Bang!”

The modified off-road vehicle swerved violently, ending up crashing into a snowdrift.

The driver turned back urgently and said, ”There’s a berserk Evolution Beast ahead, and the vehicle got stuck in the snow.”

Seeing Ge Mian dumbfounded, the driver repeated his earlier words.

Ge Mian shouted angrily, ”Then why don’t you have the convoy behind come to fix the vehicle? What’s the point of telling me?! The communicator is with you; why aren’t you calling? Waiting for me to get out and push?!”

Three minutes later, Fatty Ge and a shivering Fu Lanshan switched to another vehicle to continue their journey.

Seeing the latter’s ashen face, Ge Mian muttered, ”At your age, what’s the point of going? You might end up being a snack over there.”

The latter sat in the warmth for a long time before recovering, ”He may not remember who went, but he’ll definitely remember who didn’t!”

Ge Mian mocked, ”You’ve got quite the age on you, yet you’re this scared!”

Fu Lanshan sneered, ”Not scared? Then why are you shaking? If those three kids get in trouble, Deep Blue Data might not be directly implicated, but your Dragon Gate Six Great will be finished on the spot! How long you survive depends on when he gets back!”

Ge Mian grumbled, ”It’s been three years, and logically, he shouldn’t be the most powerful anymore, right? Why are we still scared of him?”

”Do you dare bet he hasn’t advanced to Tier Five and that he’ll die in there?”

Fu Lanshan’s nonchalant words left Ge Mian speechless.

This was the fundamental reason for their rushed rescue mission. The train chief’s illustrious battle achievements and evolutionary talent needed no further proof—their only choices were to believe or not believe.

But no matter what, coming once was better than not coming at all.

Moreover, the berserk beast tide was caused by their Six Great, so they had to come address it.

”Let’s hope we’re not too late.”

...

At the same time, two figures swiftly swept past Lion Pass, like a fierce gale brushing over the hills.

Lian Jin looked at the silver-gray cloak fluttering ahead in the wind and snow and mumbled while running, ”It’s not even your kid. Why the rush? Besides, you just got promoted to Tier Four; you won’t be of much help even if you go...”

”Don’t spout useless crap! If you can’t keep up with me later, I’ll twist your head off when we get back!”

With the woman’s fierce shout, her speed tripled, and the wind she stirred cut Lian Jin’s skin painfully!

”Oh, my dear sister...”

Lian Jin could only muster all his strength to keep up.

Behind them, all forces in and near the Wind Snow Zone were mobilizing inward.

The Dragon Gate Six Great had even issued a statement, vowing to curb the beast tide at any cost, and all participating Scavengers could claim their reward from the Six Great afterward.

After three years of peaceful development, all major factions displayed terrifying wartime potential. Hundreds to thousands of modified vehicles were dug out from under the snow in the Wind Snow Zone, heading to the battlefield and merging into a larger convoy en route. Three auras no weaker than Cheng Zhan’s were also rushing to the battlefield.

But distant water won’t quench immediate thirst; the offensive and defensive battle centered around the mobile carriage instantly entered a fever pitch.

There were no natural terrains in the snowy plain for defense; they could only use the vehicles as a defensive line and retreat while fighting.

The convoy not being swallowed up by the beast tide in the first moment owed much to the thousand-strong Gene Warriors led by Lao Er.

They organized into squads based on pre-apocalyptic military standards, with Armed Corps Evolvers integrated as the backbone, commanding them to transform into fists or walls, annihilating the incoming Evolution Beasts from all directions.

Though the beast tide erupted somewhat suddenly, the Armed Train had accumulated a wealth of combat experience over years of fighting.

Without any stagnation, the entire war machine ran smoothly in cooperation.

Gene Warriors concentrated fire on numerous low-level Evolution Beasts, with Evolution Officers hidden among them as nodes, executing or supporting other units based on Su Han’s orders. Even while retreating, they did so in an orderly fashion, showing no signs of collapse.

”Boom, boom, boom!”

Huayang controlled the vibration to bury several massive wolves alive and, seeing more wolf packs surge forward, cursed angrily while retreating.

Behind him, Wen Biao wielded a heavy machine gun, guiding Gene Warrior firepower to block the exposed front line, carving out a safe distance for Huayang.

The latter did not leave the battlefield, only communicating back coolly, ”There are two or more Tier Three Evolution Beasts overseeing this direction; we can’t break through. I feel they’re driving us toward a specific direction.”

Across the line, Su Han’s calm voice replied, ”I will split the twelve transport units into two groups for a breakout attempt soon. You and Colonel Qu both protect one of them. Understood?”

Huayang immediately grasped her intention and crisply replied, understood.

Following orders from the command vehicle, Evolutionary Officers embedded in the Gene Warriors were immediately pulled out, and without these officers acting as nodes, the casualties among these new warriors skyrocketed.

They were merely ordinary soldiers, and even the Armed Train wouldn’t equip them with top-notch gear.

All they had were regular firearms and armor, which put them at a disadvantage against these fierce beasts roaming the snowy plains.

Blood swiftly dyed the snowy fields red, and the ruthless, cunning snow wolves deliberately left the wounded behind, whose pained howls then shook the troop’s morale.
