Armed Train in the Apocalypse

The gray-blue light drifts ambiguously above the cold wasteland, pointing towards dissipation.

The sky of Eternal Night resembles a vast obsidian, pressing down low, perfectly merging with the horizon in the distance, endless, without separation.

Su Huan walks southwards calmly, here speed has no significance.

There is only one way to leave the Eternal Night Zone, walk south for three years continuously, without regard to the distance, when you reach three years, naturally, you will leave Eternal Night.

No one can carry three years of food, and no one can walk in the empty wasteland for three years; it is akin to a spirituous exile, a mental torture.

Thus, no one has ever walked out, be it enemy or deserter.

Fortunately, Su Huan hardly requires food or drink, or even rest. His body constantly converts vast amounts of energy, he does not even feel lonely, he has many memories to slowly browse.

He looks at those people he has forgotten, forgotten events, attempting to understand the former... Su Li.

When he comes to his senses, three months have already passed, although there remains much blankness in his memory, key content has been clearly sorted.

This time, there are no memories to indulge in, time has slowed considerably.

Another three months, even if his energy remains abundant, his body in peak condition, even better than ever, he still cannot suppress the rampant growth of anxiety in his heart like wild grass.

Can the military cope with this year’s disaster?

Will Qin Mian and the others survive?

If I return now, would the losses...

Just as he forcibly suppresses the thought of turning back, another pile of thoughts suddenly rise.

Is the train still alright?

Should Xiaoba and the others soon advance to Tier Four?

Will Yu Jing create a mess waiting for him to get back and clean up?

Yu Yue...

If he returns after three years, he might have already grown up.

Will he be like Su Li, or like me?

...

Countless questions echo in Su Huan’s heart, pressing down one gourd, a ladle floats up; he cannot escape, can only answer them one by one, from the most desired to the least willing to face, things once needing no explanation, like the wine drunk last night, irrationally surge at this moment, becoming his heart’s demon.

He needs to ponder repeatedly, explain again and again to himself, but even so, he does not stop his steps because he is the train conductor, his train and passengers are still waiting for him to return.

Su Huan shuts down all his thoughts, sets his brain aside.

He attaches his consciousness onto a strand of energy, completes the entire cycle, or focuses on a single cell from birth to death; he has never observed himself like this, never understood himself so clearly.

He can even feel his Life Force slowly burning, the nutrients from the burning rushing into his limbs and bones, becoming every growing hair, every expanding inch of skin, making them sturdier, more aligned with the structure of advanced Evolutionary Creatures.

Apart from the auxiliary skill ”Inner Vision” continuously upgrading, other skills also rapidly improve.

He has awakened the first skill of Tier Five ”Eternal Motion Mechanism”: ”Entropy Dominator”.

Literally explained, it means the master of all energy orders, in a more sinister sense, it is the ultimate boss devouring all energy and Rules.

In other words, with this skill, Su Huan can create energy himself.

He no longer needs to transmute matter; simply adjusting the Rules and operational orders of an area, energy naturally arises.

This was the best result designed by Yu Yao and ”him” back then.

Even with the entrance to Otherworld sealed, they still allowed the people of this world to have evolutionary potential.

Su Huan continues walking forward like a walking corpse, yet some inexplicable change seems to happen in the wasteland he traverses, carefully sensed but nothing major truly changes.

Like the first person to plant a tree seed, perhaps they could never witness the towering tree in their lifetime.

When the long hair once again passes over his shoulder, a second set of lines faintly appears on Su Huan’s body; they do not vie for territory with the [Energy] rules but begin growing around the surrounding shining white lines, eventually occupying half of the cheek and neck.

The color is deep, like the night before him.

This is the second Rule Su Huan comprehends — [Night].

But unlike the singularity of [Energy], it resembles those Marquis from Otherworld, small and large Rules mixed together, emerging in this form.

[Night] includes several small Rules, such as containment, accommodation, concealment, silence, tranquility, endurance...

When the moment of mastering the Rule arrives, Su Huan’s secondary profession also advances to Tier Four, ”Dark Martial Master”.

Hmm, it mutated.

Normally, he should upgrade to ”Martial Arts Master”, but due to deviation in Rule comprehension, it developed into a completely new Ability.

If Director Xu acknowledges the impact of Rules on profession, that intricate research list might just open another page.

Su Huan quietly attains a certain enlightenment in his heart. Humanity’s research into evolution is still in its infancy, with the risk of stumbling and overturning everything at any moment.

Time unknowingly has passed a year and a half.

Due to his far superior senses, the world may seem nearly static in his eyes, enhancing the effect of this torture exponentially.

Another year.

Su Huan continues walking across the boundless wasteland; his Ability growth is stagnant, bodily functions naturally entering a state near collapse, consciousness fluctuating between clarity and confusion.
