Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Thea Sherwood waited until Ivy Sherwood had left before emerging.

She stomped her foot in frustration. Although today’s sales were decent, they were nowhere near her expectations.

She had spent a fortune on the initial design, promotion, and hiring a spokesperson. Today’s earnings hadn’t even covered her upfront investment.

Ivy Sherwood did everything herself, hands-on, with minimal promotion, and this time she’d made a killing.

With the free publicity from the award-winning actor, the brand Iris wouldn’t be lacking customers in the future.

And those sales channels that had previously rejected Ivy Sherwood were now all contacting her, begging her to allocate some products for them to sell.

Thea Sherwood returned home in a foul mood, only to find her father in the living room. Unlike usual, he looked extremely happy.

”Dad, is Mom not home?” Thea Sherwood asked, looking around and not seeing Ruby Sterling.

She had wanted to come home and complain to Ruby Sterling. She just couldn’t swallow the day’s frustrations.

”Your mother went out for something,” Timothy Sherwood said with a smile on his face.

’Godfather is here.’ Timothy Sherwood had accompanied him for dinner, then sent both Ruby Sterling and Godfather to a hotel so his wife could have a good long talk with him.

’Ruby will probably bring back a lot of money this time.’

”What is it? Where did she go?” Thea Sherwood asked.

”Kids shouldn’t ask so many questions. How did your store do today?” Timothy Sherwood looked at her. Some time ago, Thea Sherwood had proposed opening a shop, and he had given her a substantial amount of money.

Thea Sherwood grew angry. ”The store, the store, all you care about is the store! That Ivy Sherwood is about to walk all over me!”

She then stormed upstairs. Since her mother wasn’t home, she was going to call her older sister to vent about this.

’If only my sister were here,’ she thought. ’She could definitely put that Ivy Sherwood in her place.’

After all, her sister was known as the most talented woman in Lustre; she was incredible.

Timothy Sherwood was in a good mood today, so he didn’t mind his daughter’s rudeness.

He kept checking his phone. Soon, it was ten o’clock. Two more hours passed, and it was after midnight.

Just as Timothy Sherwood was about to go upstairs to rest, the villa’s door opened, and Ruby Sterling walked in.

Ruby Sterling didn’t look well. Her eyes were a little red.

”Ruby? Why are you back already? Where’s Godfather?”

’Wasn’t she supposed to be keeping Godfather company? Why is she back so early this time?’

Ruby Sterling said nothing, simply walking inside.

”Say something,” Timothy Sherwood said, growing anxious at her silence.

”Say what? What do you want me to say!” Ruby Sterling roared.

She had thought that by marrying and moving from Veridia to Lustre, she had escaped that old man’s clutches. She never imagined that even after all these years, she still hadn’t gotten away.

That old man liked them young and beautiful. Even though he was no longer... capable, he still liked to play with the young ones.

Although she had maintained her looks well and was still beautiful, with a face that looked like it was in its thirties, her body couldn’t be preserved in the same way. The damage from childbirth, for example, was permanent.

Godfather quickly lost interest and told Ruby Sterling to leave.

Ruby Sterling tried to curry favor with him again, but Godfather only found her annoying.

Left with no choice, Ruby Sterling could only come back first.

After listening in shock, Timothy Sherwood asked, ”What about the money? Did Godfather agree to give it?”

”Money, money, money, all you know is money!” Ruby Sterling grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at Timothy Sherwood.

She had indeed brought it up at the end, but Godfather had just said, ”We’ll see.”

Clearly, he had no intention of giving them the money.

Ruby Sterling and Thea Sherwood were truly mother and daughter; they even sounded the same when they spoke.

Timothy Sherwood had been so happy, thinking money would just fall into his lap. But if Godfather wasn’t willing to pay up, he was finished!

”I’ll go find Godfather!” He stood up, ready to leave.

”It’s all because you’re so useless! Why did I ever fall for you!” Ruby Sterling’s fists hammered against Timothy Sherwood’s body.

Ruby Sterling was an orphan who had acknowledged her godfather when she was ten.

At first, Godfather was very good to her. But later, his true intentions were revealed.

The man was so much older than her; Ruby Sterling found him disgusting.

During that dark period, she met Timothy Sherwood. He was on a business trip to Veridia. Back then, Timothy Sherwood was handsome, refined, and dashing.

Sparks flew between them instantly. Ruby Sterling was desperate to be with Timothy Sherwood, even though he already had a wife.

Later, she came to Lustre, thinking she had escaped Godfather, thinking Timothy Sherwood could really give her the life she wanted.

But in the end, she was still the one who had to earn the money!

”How am I useless? Ruby Sterling, have I not treated you well all these years? You live like a tycoon’s wife, spending money extravagantly without a second thought! I’ve been supporting you all this time! Have you ever earned a single cent!” Timothy Sherwood exploded in anger as well.

”Timothy Sherwood, are you even a man!”

”If I’m not a man, then who is? Your godfather?”

Hearing this, Ruby Sterling froze for a moment, then her fists started hitting him even harder.

But she was just a woman; her blows couldn’t do much damage.

But Timothy Sherwood had had enough. He shoved Ruby Sterling away. ”Enough! You useless thing!”

Timothy Sherwood left the house. He realized he wouldn’t get a cent, so he’d have to go himself.

Timothy Sherwood bought many gifts and went to apologize to Godfather.

When he arrived at the hotel, he saw bodyguards at the door. He went over and stated his identity. A bodyguard went inside to announce him, and only after a long while was he beckoned to enter.

The scene inside the room was a world of its own—a lively, debaucherous affair. There sat the man, mostly bald with what little hair he had left completely white.

He was lighting a cigar, with his arms around two naked women. Both were young and beautiful, looking to be in their early twenties at most.

They were cooing alluringly, their bodies adorned with various props.

”Godfather, sorry to interrupt your... fun,” Timothy Sherwood said, forcing himself to enter.

”What are you here for?” Seeing Timothy Sherwood, Charlie Rhodes merely lifted an eyelid.

Timothy Sherwood said, ”Ruby just came back. I was worried she might have angered you, Godfather, so I came to apologize.”

Charlie Rhodes continued to puff on his cigar, blowing clouds of smoke, his eyes growing hazy.

”That Jade of yours... she’s certainly as beautiful as ever. But she’s gotten old.”

Timothy Sherwood understood instantly. Charlie Rhodes thought Ruby Sterling was too old.

”Godfather, everyone gets old. But Jade was raised by you. She should be able to please you in every way.”

”Of course, Jade is beautiful. It was your good fortune to marry her,” Charlie Rhodes said.

Timothy Sherwood forced a smile. ”Yes, it’s a blessing I earned in a past life, being able to marry a wife as beautiful as Jade.”

Charlie Rhodes put the cigar aside and pulled his other hand off one of the women, seeming to have lost interest.

Only then did he look at the bowing Timothy Sherwood and say, ”I remember... Jade has two daughters, doesn’t she? The younger one, especially... she looks a lot like Jade, right? How old is that little girl now? It’s been a long time since I, her honorary grandfather, have seen her.”

Instantly, all the color drained from Timothy Sherwood’s face.
