Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Timothy Sherwood was taken away, and upstairs, Thea Sherwood was so scared she didn’t dare make a sound.

’I thought Ivy was the stupid one, but it turns out I’m the fool.’

She hurried over to her mother, Ruby Sterling. ”Mom, what do we do now? Dad’s been arrested. We can’t just stand by and watch Ivy get away with this, can we?”

Ruby Sterling had taken in the whole scene. She couldn’t believe that idiot Timothy Sherwood had failed to handle such a small matter and had even been played by Ivy Sherwood.

”That little bitch!” Ruby Sterling cursed.

”Mom, why don’t we go to the Blackwood family? I’ll tell Sylvia about this. The Blackwoods are so powerful, they can definitely get Dad released.”

’I’m Dad’s sweet, caring daughter. If he gets out, he’ll definitely be grateful to me.’

”Don’t you dare!” Ruby Sterling said, looking at her foolish daughter. ”The Blackwood family can’t find out about this.”

’Even though I don’t want Ivy to marry into the Blackwood family and live a life of luxury, if the Blackwoods find out about this, they’ll drag the entire Sherwood family down with them.’

’Timothy Sherwood is so brainless. What did I ever see in him?’

’A woman has to look out for herself. It’s clear now that Timothy can’t be relied on anymore.’

Just then, Ruby Sterling’s phone rang. She glanced down at it, and when she saw the caller ID, her expression instantly turned complicated.

”Go to bed. Don’t worry about this. I’ll figure out a way to get your father out.”

”Okay.” Thea Sherwood went back to her room.

Meanwhile, Ruby Sterling quickly took her phone and went back to the bedroom she shared with Timothy.

Only then did she answer the call, her voice turning soft and seductive. ”Hello~ Godfather~”

”Of course I do. Jade misses you so much~ I miss every part of you, Godfather. Does Godfather miss his Jade?”

...

Ivy Sherwood also went to the police station to give her statement.

Timothy Sherwood had been taken into custody. To this moment, he showed no remorse, believing he had done nothing wrong and continuously cursing Ivy Sherwood.

A short while later, Gabriel Walker was also brought in. He had been out with his wife, but she was a prominent figure. When Gabriel was arrested, her first instinct was to hide, only rushing to the police station later.

Seeing Ivy Sherwood, Gabriel Walker had the same expression as Timothy Sherwood; they looked like they wanted to skin her alive.

But with his hands cuffed, there was nothing he could do.

Seeing Timothy Sherwood, who had also been brought in, Gabriel Walker cursed at him, ”Sherwood, how the hell do you get things done? I gave you so much money! Didn’t you say you’d take care of it for me?”

”President Walker, please, calm down. It’s Ivy who’s being unreasonable. I tried everything—reasoning, threatening—but nothing worked. Look, she called the police and had me, her own father, arrested.”

Timothy Sherwood started playing the victim, trying to get Gabriel Walker to cool down.

”Timothy Sherwood, I paid you!”

Timothy Sherwood said, ”Don’t worry, President Walker. I will definitely handle it.”

Gabriel Walker felt a wave of suffocating frustration. How had he been run in circles by this young woman?

What made him even angrier was that Anna Nash was no longer answering his calls.

’She’d promised to connect me with the Blackwood Group, and I actually believed her bullshit!’

What Gabriel Walker didn’t know was that Anna Nash was currently struggling to save her own skin.

If Ivy Sherwood had only taken Gabriel Walker’s video to Anna Nash, it wouldn’t have caused much of a stir. At most, she might have slapped Anna a couple of times to vent her anger.

The brilliant part was that Ivy had seized the opportunity and shown the video directly to Caleb Blackwood.

Caleb Blackwood’s methods were on a whole other level.

Although Anna Nash had run away that night, she couldn’t hide forever. Caleb Blackwood had caught her long ago, so how could she possibly have time to answer Gabriel Walker’s calls?

Ivy Sherwood cooperated fully with the investigation. By the time she finished her statement and left the police station, it was almost dawn.

Just as Ivy Sherwood walked out of the police station, someone approached her. ”Miss Sherwood, our madam has invited you. She would like to have a few words.”

”I don’t believe I know your madam. If she wants to say something, why doesn’t she come over herself? We can talk right at the police station. That way, we’ll have a witness. What if this private meeting is a setup to silence me?”

’I’m not foolish enough to go unprepared.’

”Miss Sherwood, I’d advise you to accept the toast and not wait for the penalty.” The man inviting her was growing impatient.

”Sorry, I don’t like to drink.” As Ivy was about to walk away, the man blocked her path.

Ivy Sherwood looked up at him, then at the black car behind him. ”What, you’re going to start something right in front of the police station? You didn’t even cover the license plate. Afraid people won’t recognize it as a car from the Young family?”

She deliberately spoke towards the car. ”If something were to actually happen to me here, wouldn’t the Young family be held responsible?”

Sure enough, a moment later, the car door opened.

A woman got out of the car. It was Mrs. Walker, Gabriel Walker’s wife.

”Ivy Sherwood, I’m the one who wants to talk.” Mrs. Walker was the wife of a wealthy man, extremely assertive, with an incredibly sharp gaze.

Ivy Sherwood said, ”There’s a 24-hour coffee shop over there. If Mrs. Walker doesn’t mind, we can talk there.”

”You know who I am?”

Ivy Sherwood just smiled. ”Mrs. Walker’s career is at its zenith. Who wouldn’t know of you?”

’We’re both old hands at this game, so why the charade?’

Mrs. Walker and Ivy went to the coffee shop. ”I’ll be direct. You’re suing my husband because you want more money, right? Just name your price. I can pay it.”

In Mrs. Walker’s view, any problem could be solved with money.

Gabriel Walker liked to play around, and had even fathered a child before. It was always Mrs. Walker who cleaned up his messes. As long as enough money was paid, nothing was impossible.

Mrs. Walker’s gaze was so sharp that few people could meet it directly.

But Ivy Sherwood calmly met her gaze. ”So, Mrs. Walker, if you were to encounter something like this one day, do you think you could also solve it with money?”

”I know my husband was in the wrong. He had a moment of folly. I guarantee he will never do this again. Miss Sherwood, it’s better to forgive when you can.”

”I thought the matter between President Walker and me was long over. This was revenge because he held a grudge. How can I be sure he won’t try to get revenge again? Besides, the justice system is fair. If President Walker is truly innocent, the court won’t convict a good person.”

Mrs. Walker’s expression turned cold. ”So no matter what, you’re determined to press charges?”

Ivy Sherwood said, ”Not everything can be settled with money, and not everyone will be intimidated by you into compromising. We are all adults. We must take responsibility for our own actions.”
