Wrong Flirt, Right Trouble: His Uncle Pulls Me Close

Over at the Sherwood Company’s new store, thanks to an appearance by a popular celebrity, the place was absolutely packed and bustling with activity.

Meanwhile, Ivy Sherwood’s shop was desolate, completely devoid of customers.

Not far away, Thea Sherwood glanced smugly in Ivy Sherwood’s direction, a confident smile playing on her lips.

’So what if Ivy opened a store? Can she really compete with the Sherwood Company?’

’It’s not just for today. In the future, I’ll make sure Ivy’s shop never has a single customer!’

’Without the Sherwood Company, Ivy is nothing. And she wants to start her own business? In her dreams!’

Thea Sherwood gazed at the throngs of fans and customers in her own store, filled with pride.

’And Father said I couldn’t possibly run a store successfully. Look at me now. What can he say to me now?’

Of course, Thea Sherwood hadn’t really lifted a finger for this store. As long as you have money, there will always be people to do the work for you.

”Ivy, almost all the customers have gone over to Thea Sherwood’s,” Nina Scott said, having also noticed the situation.

They hired a hot young male celebrity with a massive fanbase. Even now, people are still pouring into the mall for him.

”It’s okay. We just need to focus on doing our own thing well,” Ivy Sherwood said, patting Nina Scott’s shoulder reassuringly.

Just then, a woman’s voice called out from a short distance away, ”Ivy Sherwood.”

Ivy turned to see a woman dressed in haute couture and adorned with luxury jewelry walking toward her.

Although the woman had called out her name, her gaze only lingered on Ivy’s face for a second before shifting to the man beside her.

First came surprise, and then she couldn’t tear her eyes away.

”Cheryl Yates?” Nina Scott blurted out her name. ’Why is Cheryl Yates, Lustre’s number one socialite, here too?’

After all, Cheryl Yates was known for being extremely arrogant and normally looked down on people like them.

Accompanying Cheryl Yates was a man wearing sunglasses and a mask.

”Miss Yates,” Ivy said as well.

Cheryl Yates didn’t pull her gaze away from Quentin Blackwood. Her stare was bold and fervent.

It took Ivy calling out ”Miss Yates” a second time for Cheryl to snap out of it.

”I heard you were opening your new store today, Miss Sherwood, so I came to offer my congratulations. I was also hoping you could help me pick out a couple of perfumes.”

”Of course, no problem at all. This way, Miss Yates.”

Ivy gestured for Cheryl to enter. Just then, another man walked into the shop.

Nina Scott went to greet him. ”Please, feel free to look around, sir...”

The next second, Nina’s eyes widened. She let out a shriek and quickly covered her mouth. ”Landon Jacobs!”

’I can’t believe I’m seeing Landon Jacobs here!’

Landon Jacobs, the Movie King. He was the top figure in the entertainment industry. Every project he touched turned to gold, his films grossed in the tens of billions, and he’d won so many awards he’d lost count. Despite having countless fans, he was an intensely private person.

He never appeared on variety shows or held fan meetings, leaving his fans desperate for any news. Outside of his on-screen roles, it was nearly impossible to get a glimpse of him in real life.

Meanwhile, the live stream was still running.

The viewers in the live stream, who had been obsessing over the three handsome men in the shop, went into a frenzy the moment they heard Landon Jacobs’s name.

”The Movie King, Landon Jacobs? I’m losing my mind! I thought I misheard.”

”Where’s my Secretary Sutton? I want all the information on this store within three minutes, and get me the address!”

”Milo, you’re an angel! Please, let me get a glimpse of our Movie King, sob sob, I’m begging you!”

”I want to see the tallest handsome guy! I only caught a glimpse, but he’s even more handsome than the Movie King!”

The live chat was about to explode. Who could have ever imagined that Landon Jacobs would show up?

Milo Jacobs himself froze for a second, then quickly ducked his head as if trying to hide from someone. He hastily grabbed a nearby mask and put it on.

”What’s wrong with Milo? Why’d he suddenly put on a mask? Just let us see the Movie King!”

”Hello,” Landon Jacobs said. ”I’d like to pick out a perfume for a friend. I just happened to be passing by.”

But his eyes fell on the other man in the room. Or more accurately, he exchanged a look with Quentin Blackwood.

”We have all sorts of perfumes here, perfect for a gift for a friend!” Nina Scott’s eyes were practically sparkling.

’She still couldn’t believe it. The Movie King was here. Was this really a coincidence?’

However, as a public figure, Landon Jacobs was especially sensitive to cameras. He glanced toward the streaming setup. ”Are you live?”

Ivy hadn’t expected the Movie King to show up either. ”The stream should be on, but the camera isn’t pointed this way. If it’s a problem, I can turn it off.”

”It’s no problem. Since you’re live, I might as well say hello.” With that, Landon Jacobs started walking toward Milo.

However, as he approached, Milo, who had just put his mask back on, shot up like a startled bird. ”I... I need to use the restroom.”

In contrast, Landon Jacobs acted as if he hadn’t seen him at all and walked straight to the camera. ”Hello, everyone. I’m Landon Jacobs.”

Seeing the Movie King’s face on screen, the chat went even wilder. ”AHHHH, IT’S THE MOVIE KING!”

”Oh my god, I can’t believe I’m seeing the Movie King on a live stream in my lifetime! His looks are so heavenly, I’m going to faint from happiness.”

”What kind of store managed to get the Movie King to visit? I’m going to buy something right now!”

”I think my friend is at this mall right now! She went to see that other young celebrity, but I have to tell her the Movie King is right next door!”

Watching Landon Jacobs’s face on the stream, Ivy glanced in the direction the fleeing Milo had gone. She turned to Nina Scott. ”Don’t you think Milo is acting a little strange?”

Nina was still captivated by the Movie King’s heavenly looks. ”What’s so strange about going to the restroom? The Movie King is so handsome, isn’t he? You know he’s my absolute favorite, Ivy!”

Ivy herself couldn’t have imagined so many important people would show up for her opening day.

’It’s just... she barely knew Cheryl Yates. Her sudden appearance was too much of a coincidence.’

Before she could say anything more, she watched Cheryl Yates walk right up to Quentin Blackwood. ”President Blackwood, we parted in such a hurry at the banquet last time. There was so much I didn’t get a chance to say. I was wondering if you’re free for lunch? My treat.”

”Sorry,” Quentin Blackwood’s voice was ice-cold.

”President Blackwood, my birthday is in a few days. I’d like to invite you to my party. I wonder if you would grace me with your presence?” Cheryl Yates’s expectant gaze was fixed on Quentin.

’Ever since that last encounter, she hadn’t been able to get him out of her mind.’

She had dug up a lot of information on him and tried to contact him or his secretary, but all her messages were met with silence.

With great difficulty, Cheryl had managed to find a connection through Ivy Sherwood. Knowing Ivy’s store was opening today, she had originally planned to come and get on her good side. After all, Ivy was Quentin Blackwood’s future niece-in-law. Every connection opened a new door.

To her pleasant surprise, she came over and saw Quentin Blackwood himself.

’That face... it was truly unforgettable. Wherever he stood, everything around him faded into the background.’

Even Landon Jacobs, the Movie King renowned as the most handsome man in entertainment, paled slightly in comparison to Quentin Blackwood.

Quentin Blackwood’s gaze fell upon Cheryl Yates. As he looked at her, she felt her heart was about to pound out of her chest.

”Cut the act. I detest women who think they’re clever.”

The next second, Quentin’s gaze shifted to Ivy, and her heart skipped a beat under his stare.

’Were his words seemingly directed at Cheryl, but actually meant for me?’

Cheryl Yates’s face turned deathly pale. ”I... That’s not what I meant.”

”I have things to do.” Quentin Blackwood said only four words. Ivy understood; he was leaving.

”I’ll see you out.”

”Mm.” Quentin didn’t refuse.

Cheryl Yates stared at their retreating backs. ’He must just be here to check on his future niece-in-law’s store, right?’

Ivy walked beside Quentin Blackwood. He had only been there for a few minutes, but his mere presence was enough to make her feel content.

The air around the man beside her seemed to have dropped several degrees, thick with an oppressive aura.

Ivy was still thinking about Quentin’s earlier comment that seemed directed at her. Afraid he had gotten the wrong idea, she took a couple of steps out of the store before quickly trying to explain.

”Uncle, I swear, I have absolutely no designs on you.”
