Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 1057, A Step-by-Step Plan

Translator: Silavin

A true Ancient God possesses an inexhaustible source of Ancient God Power, continuously regenerating within them.

After such a prolonged confrontation, the Ancient God imprisoned within the Purgatory Overlord had begun generating trace amounts of Ancient God Power. This was power the Purgatory Overlord could continue absorbing and using.

Therefore, although the Purgatory Overlord’s Ancient God Power had been completely depleted moments ago, she had now regained a certain amount of that power once more, granting her the capital to fight again.

In that instant, Lu Fan understood that everything had unfolded according to the Purgatory Overlord’s carefully orchestrated plan.

From the very beginning, when she had used her Skill to slaughter three Pet Dragons, she had just been methodically executing each step of her strategy.

The consecutive elimination of three Dragons served a singular purpose: to instil fear in Lu Fan and his remaining Pet Dragons.

As long as Lu Fan and his Dragons feared death, and hesitated to continue the battle, she already won.

She understood her own Ancient God Power had a limit to it. It was fundamentally incomparable to what Lu Fan had.

Even though Lu Fan had only recently acquired his Divine Seat and was far inferior to her in terms of Level, he was a genuine Ancient God capable of regenerating his own Ancient God Power.

In a prolonged battle, the Purgatory Overlord would inevitably suffer greater losses.

Establishing the overwhelming might using her Ancient God Power early on, forcing Lu Fan into submission through fear, that was her original strategy.

However, Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons had persistently fought her head-on, causing her first phase to collapse.

She could not comprehend why Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons showed no fear whatsoever of her Ancient God Power. Even after three consecutive deaths, they continued their suicidal assault with the resolve of warriors marching to their doom.

Left with no alternative, she initiated the second phase of her plan: which was to drive a wedge between Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons.

Regrettably, this second strategy also ended in failure.

The Purgatory Overlord even began to suspect that Lu Fan’s Ancient God Power might involve brainwashing the Giant Dragons, compelling their unconditional obedience.

Seeing that alienation tactics could not separate the Dragons from Lu Fan, the Purgatory Overlord could only burn through all her remaining Ancient God Power, feigning a scenario of mutual destruction.

She had anticipated that Lu Fan would inevitably command his Dragons to block her Scorching Down Eight Wastelands.

After all, since the battle’s commencement, Lu Fan had consistently hidden behind his Pet Dragons, never directly confronting her Skills.

This cowardly fighting style guaranteed Lu Fan would avoid taking on any personal risk, always letting his Pet Dragons bear the danger first.

Therefore, Scorching Down Eight Wastelands appeared to target Lu Fan first, but in reality, existed to eliminate the Dragons surrounding him.

How many Pet Dragons she could actually kill remained uncertain even to the Purgatory Overlord herself.

Yet, as long as she forced Lu Fan to order his Dragons to sacrifice themselves to save himself, that was enough.

Even if only two or three Dragons survived afterward, it would not matter.

Once Lu Fan had caused the deaths of several Pet Dragons through such methods, her objective would be achieved.

Reality proved precisely as she predicted. In fact, even better than expected.

Almost all of Lu Fan’s Pet Dragons had perished in Scorching Down Eight Wastelands, leaving only Ye Sha.

Next, the Purgatory Overlord merely needed to persuade the remaining Pet Dragon about Lu Fan’s recent actions. The surviving Pet Dragon would inevitably understand that continuing to fight meant only one outcome: death.

When that moment arrived, they would naturally choose to depart.

Even there was a genuine bond between the Dragon and Lu Fan, with the Purgatory Overlord’s Stamina being nearly exhausted, and victory being essentially decided, the Dragon would recognize that even if they left, Lu Fan would likely still win this battle and remain safe.

Therefore, at this juncture, whether the Dragon still held any sentiment for Lu Fan or had become utterly disillusioned, both emotionally and rationally, leaving was the only logical choice.

They would not remain out of concern that Lu Fan might die without their protection.

The Purgatory Overlord had manipulated their psychology with masterful precision, leaving no reason for any surviving Pet Dragon to stay.

Once all the Dragons departed, she could showcase her final trump card, the trace amounts of Ancient God Power she had deliberately left within the imprisoned Ancient God. She could use this against Lu Fan, and victory would essentially be hers.

Without any Pet Dragon left, a single successful strike, combined with the special Ancient God Power she wielded, would place Lu Fan in a fatal position.

Even if her gamble proved wrong and the Pet Dragons did not leave, she still possessed the capital for a desperate struggle with her last breath of Ancient God Power. There was still a possibility of a reversal even then.

Step by step, everything had been calculated by the Purgatory Overlord. The final result was progressing toward her most favourable anticipated outcome.

Now, Lu Fan stood alone, while she had regained some Ancient God Power. This battle was secured.

After extracting the Ancient God Power from the imprisoned Ancient God, the Purgatory Overlord once again swallowed the Ancient God into her belly.

She coiled her serpentine body, gazing at Lu Fan. “Hehe, it seems no one can save you now. In the end, you’ll become like that other Ancient God, a tool for me to extract Ancient God Power from. From this day forward, you’ll be unable to live yet unable to die!”

“If you’d simply helped me obtain his Divine Seat earlier, wouldn’t you have avoided such a miserable fate? Originally, you and I could have become the Masters of this world, enjoying Immortality. Unfortunately, that limitless lifespan is now about to become your endless, inescapable nightmare.”

“As for me, though I lack a Divine Seat, merely by extracting Ancient God Power from both of you, I can still become Immortal. I hope the next Ancient God I encounter will be intelligent enough to cooperate with me, rather than being as obstinately stubborn as you, and ending up in the same circumstance.”

Fire light emerged from her belly.

The Skill that had previously killed Bao Bao and Lin Dong was deployed using her last bit of Ancient God Power, locking firmly onto Lu Fan.

Lu Fan did not even transform into his Golden Dragon King Form. He understood that even if he transformed and used Golden Form, he could only resist for five minutes.

Those extra five minutes would not change the outcome.

Rather than transforming into his Golden Dragon King Form to await death, better to use whatever he could not to put up a desperate fight.

If he managed to kill her, perhaps the Ancient God Power would dissipate on its own, preventing him from being burned to death.

Lu Fan directly spread his Bone Wings, and flew toward the Purgatory Overlord at a terrifying speed.

However, no matter how fast he moved, he could not outpace the Purgatory Overlord’s Skill.

The Purgatory Overlord opened her mouth, and a massive fireball emerged.

Lu Fan attempted to evade mid-flight, but was ultimately struck.
