Chapter 1522: Chapter 524: The Death of Little Black

Above the Summer Sea.

Soon, the fleet of Imperial Airships came face to face with Elder Ivan and his two Dragon Knights, who were riding on giant dragons.

Upon seeing Rein for the first time, Elder Ivan and the other two Dragon Knights were quickly astonished by Rein’s youthful appearance and the vast but subtle spiritual power emanating from him.

In fact, Rein had deliberately suppressed part of his spiritual power, revealing only the aura and presence of a Middle Stage Dawn Wizard.

”Lord Rein, you are younger than the rumors suggest, and stronger than the rumors had it,” Elder Ivan remarked with a smile after his initial shock.

”Thank you, Elder Ivan.”

...

After some pleasantries, Rein learned that Elder Ivan was even more senior than Prince Menia in terms of experience, and although not directly of the royal bloodline, he was like an uncle to Menia. The other two had a distant royal lineage but were of the same generation as the current Emperor.

The main focus of their visit was, naturally, Prince Menia.

So, after a simple dinner together, Rein returned to his own cabin, leaving them the space to converse.

At midnight, under the shimmering moonlight over the Summer Sea, several Imperial Airships were flying at high speed.

In a luxurious cabin, Rein suddenly opened his eyes from sleep, jolted awake by a system prompt:

[Host’s ferocious beast ’Swift Horned Antelope’ has suffered a fatal attack and is now deceased!]

[Ding! The number of pets the Host can contract has increased, currently (2/4)]

”Blackie is dead?”

”Did something happen at home?”

”No, if something happened at home, even if Blood Feather managed to escape, the Spiritual Greyhound Qu Qi would certainly be in trouble too.”

”Without me, few could ride Blackie out; Cleya is one possibility, Anna is another... Could it be something happened to them?”

”No, in my absence, Cleya has a carriage, and Anna can transform herself, so the likelihood of them riding Blackie out is quite low.”

”In that case, the most likely scenario... Blackie was killed in the estate stables!” Calming down gradually, Rein analyzed each possibility and realized the situation wasn’t as severe as he initially feared.

”Is it because the Imperial City isn’t the best place to act against my family? So, they killed the horse to instill fear in my family?” Rein narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.

Thinking it over, Rein opened the door and said to the guard at the entrance:

”Messenger, inform the bridge to proceed at full speed to the Imperial City.”

”As you command, Lord Rein. But...” The guard’s hesitant expression was noted by Rein.

”If Prince Menia asks, tell him it was my order,” Rein said sternly.

By appointment, he wasn’t the head of the Empire Delegation, and the decision to have the airship fleet fly at full speed would normally require Menia’s consent.

”Yes, Lord Rein!” The guard saluted and left quickly.

...

With the airship flying at full speed.

By ten the next morning, the Empire Delegation successfully arrived in the Capital Tamriel.

After the grand welcoming ceremony, Prince Menia returned to the Imperial Palace surrounded by the crowd, while Rein expressed his need to first return home before meeting with Marshal Alfred later, and boarded the pre-arranged luxurious carriage.

In the carriage.

Rein sat opposite Major General Tatia and the competent Olivia.

”Olena, tell me about what’s happened at home and on the Empire level, would you?” Noticing Olena’s relatively calm demeanor, Rein felt a little relieved and asked slowly.

”I’ve compiled the major events that occurred on the Empire level for you, Lord Rein. You can review them anytime.” Olena took out a folder of documents and respectfully handed it to Rein.

”However... about your home...” Olena’s hesitant expression made Rein take the folder while his smile gradually faded.

”Well... when you first went missing, there were many rumors, so I chose not to inform your family immediately. I also contacted Lord Luther and Lord Halowin, who might know the inside story, and asked them to temporarily keep it from your family.”

”I considered that if your family knew, they would be extremely worried.”

Listening to Olena’s account, Rein nodded slowly.

Logically, Olena had considered his parents were ordinary people, and choosing to conceal it temporarily to prevent undue worry and grief was a reasonable course of action.

”But I overlooked Miss Cleya; she is at the Imperial Royal Academy and has access to many sources, and she learned of the situation through other channels. As a result, your family... found out about your incident and Aunt Emma fell ill...”

”It’s not your fault, Olena,” Rein comforted her.

Cleya finding out was just an unexpected turn, and naturally, Olena couldn’t be blamed.

”Thank you for your understanding, Lord Rein.”

”Also, last night, there was an incident of horse killing at your estate. The Imperial City’s security forces have intervened, but currently, there are no leads.”

”Miss Cleya had a confrontation with the perpetrator, who seems to be a woman with mysterious movements and stronger than Miss Cleya,” Olena said with a solemn expression.

Rein nodded.

This aligned with the system prompt he received last night.

”Do you not know the identity of the attacker?”

”Lord Rein, I might be able to add something regarding this matter,” Major General Tatia, sitting beside them, straightened slightly and said.
