Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 428: Chapter 316: Divine Spirit Book, Complete

Above the Wilderness, with the ritual complete, Isaac caressed the jade-white Divine Spirit Book. His expression was complicated. Even for someone like him, who frequently dealt with Outer Gods, he felt a little spooked when facing an unnamable Evil God.

’This thing is a bit like the Cthulhu from the novels of my past life,’ he thought. ’Sinister and bizarre.’

But the good thing was that this power was obtained through a Miracle. That offered some measure of assurance, more or less...

’Right, only a tiny bit...’

Still, it was ultimately the power of those disgusting beings. Things could go wrong; the effects might turn out slightly different than expected...

After a moment of contemplation, Isaac decided to stop overthinking it. The Third Ceremony only had one final step left anyway. He’d just have to put it to the test to see what it could really do.

Compared to the troublesome second step, the third ritual was much simpler. It required the blood sacrifice of six Tier Four Divine Species. Although there were no Divine Species in the world of the Wilderness Dungeon, and Isaac couldn’t create any Tier Four Divine Species at the moment...

But the ritual only required the Concept. The same was true for the blood sacrifice. Therefore, he just needed to kill six Tier Four Demons and use a certain number of Divine Fragments to convert the Concept, and the ritual would be considered a success.

Neither of these was difficult for Isaac to obtain.

This was especially true within this Wilderness Dungeon. Tier Four Demons might be hard to find in the outside world, but here, they were practically everywhere.

Soon, with Isaac and Cristi splitting up, they gathered six Demons from two different Underground Palaces. As for Divine Fragments, he had more than enough. After all, for the sake of creating more Virtual Divinities, neither Cristi nor the Mother Goddess had ever stopped producing them.

Only Mephisto and the Fighting God needed to accumulate Power of Faith to enhance their Followers; otherwise, those two would be working for Isaac as well!

After the bloody sacrifice ritual ended, the jade-white cover of the Divine Spirit Book was stained with sinister, blood-red patterns. As Isaac gently caressed its surface, streams of information flowed quietly into his mind.

The Divine Spirit Book, like the Wind-Fire Wheel, was an Existence that his Analysis Authority could not parse.

But its usage method and some basic information were open to Isaac.

This included its existing flaws.

First, the biggest flaw of this Divine Spirit Book was its binding power. The Ten Divine Books was still too small a collection. Its binding power was weak, only capable of commanding a single Deity who had signed a contract, and the power it could exert couldn’t exceed Isaac’s own—meaning it was also limited to a Tier Four level.

The good news, however, was that it had great potential for growth. Every time a contract was signed with a Deity and their true name was written in it, the Divine Spirit Book’s power would increase. If he signed contracts with another ninety Deities and wrote down their true names, the Ten Divine Books in his hand would upgrade into the Hundred Gods Book.

Furthermore, there wasn’t much difference between this upgraded version and a Hundred Gods Book that was crafted directly.

However, this wasn’t really necessary. Collecting the true names of Deities was far more difficult. Although a true name alone couldn’t do much to a Deity, the ability of High-tier Legendary Wizards to manipulate Concepts was so terrifying that the Deities had simply sealed their names away. It’s not like there was any downside to doing so.

Therefore, Isaac planned to create two more Divine Spirit Books next: an improved Ten Divine Books and a Hundred Gods Book.

Only when he had collected enough data would he begin creating the Thousand Gods Book, and then slowly upgrade it into the Ten Thousand Gods Scripture!

At the same time, Isaac also learned the function of the Power of Time that came from that unnamable place: breaking the rules.

As everyone knew, whether they were True Gods or Evil Gods, not only were they unable to move about freely in the Real World, but even sending down their power was difficult. This was the restriction placed upon them by the rules of the Real World.

But under the influence of this unnamable power, a Deity could use the Divine Spirit Book to send down their power into the Real World!

And without any reduction!

So, as long as Isaac and his Divine Spirit Book were strong enough, even a Tier Six or Tier Seven Deity could manifest their full power in the Real World!

This was why the number of Deities the Divine Spirit Book could command was limited. It was also only after truly creating the Divine Spirit Book that Isaac discovered that ”binding” and ”enslaving” were not its core powers. Breaking the rules was.

In reality, enslaving a Deity was simple—absurdly simple, even. It was as easy as putting an elephant in a refrigerator. One just had to bind the Deity with absolute power.

This absolute power didn’t necessarily have to be Magic Power or Divine Power; a Concept would also work.

The Divine Spirit Book’s binding and enslaving abilities relied on the Concepts contained within the threads of Divine Power inscribed upon it. It completely overwhelmed a Deity on a conceptual level, forcing them to obey your commands. This method was very characteristic of a Legendary Mage.

So it wasn’t difficult.

’Breaking the rules, huh?’ Isaac stroked the smooth surface of the Divine Spirit Book, lost in thought.

He was thinking about whether he, too, could master this unnamable power...

Not by studying it, of course. That would be suicide.

But he was a Mad Witch. He could simply make a deal with it...

Tapping his finger lightly on the cover of the Divine Spirit Book, Isaac slowly nodded. ’This method...’

’It could work!’

After all, compared to other Mad Witches, he could see the success rate beforehand—both for the ritual and for this line of thinking. Most importantly, making a deal was simple, unlike research, which required a great deal of time and energy.

It wouldn’t take up too much of Isaac’s already limited time.

Of course, the prerequisite for all of this was safety!

After all, unnamable gods... those things were just too bizarre...

After some simple deliberation, Isaac put away the Divine Spirit Book, pinned the brooch-turned-Cristi to his chest again, and was then swallowed by the Void’s jagged maw, returning to his underground laboratory.

And the first thing he did upon his return was, naturally, to test the Divine Spirit Book’s power. He needed to find a ”lucky” candidate!

To enslave a Deity, the Divine Spirit Book required two elements: a contract and a true name. The contract was easy to handle. It didn’t require specific contents; any contract would do.

This was also in line with the ways of Wizards. The so-called ”spirit of the contract” only existed between Wizards.

Therefore, even the ritual a Mad Witch used to trade with an Outer God could be considered a contract!

It was practically a core item in a Mad Witch’s build!

The trickier part was the true name. You couldn’t just ask for it directly; even a ghost would know something was up.

Isaac currently had two plans. The first was to reverse-engineer the Divine Power, which could allow him to analyze it and extract the Deity’s true name.

In this Extraordinary World, names also held power; it was just a matter of how much.

The second was to try and find it within the Mysterious Void during a transaction with an Outer God.

That Void was, in essence, a manifestation of the Deity’s power. Theoretically, a Mad Witch could even seize the entire Mysterious Void to completely usurp the Deity’s power, or even enslave them.

Of course, this was only theoretical. In practice, the huge power gap between a Mad Witch and an Outer God made it impossible.

However, he should be able to find the true name within it. And because a true name didn’t contain much power, it should be relatively easy to obtain.

So, Isaac prepared to give it a try.
