Wizard: Scamming a Demon God

Chapter 407: Chapter 297: The Betraying True God, the Rearguard Evil God, and the Dumbfounded Demon God (Part 2)

The Three Gods flew into the hollowed-out, towering tree, then rapidly ascended through the hole in its trunk.

Yes, upward.

The Space within an Underground Palace is chaotic. Sometimes you have to go down, sometimes up, sometimes forward. There are even some where after you step into a passage, you have to turn around and walk backward...

Some of the more insidious Underground Palaces even place traps within their passages.

Incredibly treacherous, you could say!

’No idea who they learned that from!’

However, this was no problem for the Three Gods. After all, the path ahead had already been scouted by their Followers. Followers, who could be resurrected with just a little Power of Faith after dying, were without a doubt perfectly suited for this kind of task.

Desert... hills... mountains...

Different landscapes flashed before Isaac’s eyes. As the terrain changed, the Three Gods slowly approached the lowest level of the Wolf Howl Dungeon—the Wolf Howl Abyss!

The Wolf Howl Dungeon has six levels in total. The terrain of the sixth level is quite similar to the Abyss, filled with lava and green-fuming Evil Energy everywhere. However, it was only similar, not the actual Abyss.

The Demon Wolves that lived here were genuine Demons!

Albeit from one of the weaker clans among them: the Abyssal Werewolves!

Abyssal Werewolves are a rare type of Demon that still lives in packs at Tier Four. Their intelligence is low, they possess no powerful Authorities, and their only reliance is their brawny physique!

To be honest, Tier Four Demons specializing in pure physical combat are not uncommon. Most Demons have low intelligence, so expecting them to wield Authorities and Powers like humans would be asking far too much of them.

Only a few highly intelligent Demons rely on Authorities, Powers, or even Concepts as their main source of strength after reaching Tier Four.

The vast majority of Demons, after hastily awakening an Authority at Tier Three, simply go all-in on Physical Enhancement as they advance further.

In truth, the path of Physical Enhancement shouldn’t have been able to reach Tier Four, because if all you can do is charge in recklessly, the gap between you and other Demons becomes too great.

However, as the saying goes, life finds a way. Through generations of evolution, they forcefully carved out this path of the brute!

The Abyssal Werewolves were no different. As one of the few clans among Demons without a True God, their survival to this day relied on just one thing—breeding!

They could breed like crazy!

In the Abyss, their reproductive ability was second only to the Little Inferior Demons!

Their vast numbers allowed a Miracle to bloom for the Abyssal Werewolf clan, enabling them to advance to Tier Four. And only a place like the Abyss had enough resources to support a pack-dwelling Tier Four Demon.

But back to the matter at hand. The moment the Three Gods set foot on the lowest level, Isaac’s mind tensed. Aside from the gazes of the Abyssal Werewolves, he sensed another, unique gaze...

Immediately, Isaac withdrew his consciousness deeper into the Master of Blood’s Divinity, then quietly began to observe the battle between the Three Gods and the Abyssal Werewolves.

There were many Abyssal Werewolves on the final level. Thirteen of them were visible at a glance!

And in the distance, beyond his line of sight, four more evil auras were speeding toward them!

One had to understand, this wasn’t some Boundless Wilderness, but an Underground Palace with limited space. Moreover, it was a dungeon with simple terrain. With a Deity’s vision, one could see to the very end at a glance. How could there be a place beyond one’s line of sight?

In other words, among this pack of brutes, a few had actually used their heads...

And they were the more powerful ones, at that.

Naturally, the auras of those few ”Elite” Tier Four Werewolves could not escape the notice of the Three Gods. Mephisto and the Fighting God exchanged a look, their expressions hardening. Their auras of Divine Power erupted, beginning to pressure the surrounding ”Ordinary” Werewolves!

Despite being far smaller than the ten-meter-tall Werewolves, every move the two Gods made displayed immense power. Streaks of Sword Qi flew wildly, leaving wounds on the Werewolves that were subject to the Erosion of Divine Power and could not heal.

Meanwhile, the Master of Blood retreated behind the other two Gods. Its crimson Divine Power gathered, and two extremely brilliant, blood-red glimmers of light ignited where its head should be. As it spread its arms, a massive amount of blood gushed from the Werewolves’ wounds and converged upon it!

The situation on the field was rather strange. It was clearly a three-on-thirteen fight, but the side with only three was the one with the upper hand!

And it wasn’t just a slight advantage, but an absolute one!

The Three Gods were dominating the thirteen Abyssal Werewolves!

This was only natural. Tier Four Demons specializing in physical bodies were already a notch weaker than normal Tier Four Transcendents. In a one-on-one fight, even a Tier Four Knight could beat them down. What’s more, they were now facing three Deities whose Paths of the Extraordinary were among the best of the best.

It was only because Mephisto and the Fighting God had not been Gods for long and had focused their energy mainly on their Followers that they didn’t have their own Divine Artifacts yet. Otherwise, the battle would have gone even more smoothly.

However...

Isaac couldn’t help but sigh.

’Although they have the upper hand, winning won’t be so easy.’

As a Miracle of life, while Tier Four Demons specializing in physical bodies could be called the shame of Tier Four in terms of combat power, they were not without their merits. Their Life Force was incredibly strong!

They weren’t capable of Blood Rebirth, but Limb Regeneration was a trivial matter for them!

And ”limb,” in this case, included the head!

That’s right. Decapitating them wouldn’t kill them; they would just grow a new head!

After all, this power was obtained by sacrificing their brains.

In a sense, it was a form of an Undying Body!

To kill them, aside from instantly obliterating their bodies with absolute power, there was only one method available to the Three Gods: attrition!

They had to use a continuous barrage of attacks to completely deplete their Life Force!

This was difficult. The main difficulty was that, besides these thirteen brainless Werewolves, there were four more on this level that did have brains. They must possess Space or Concealment Type Powers, making them relatively tricky to deal with.

Of course, even so, it wasn’t as if there was no hope of victory.

After all, the Three Gods had one absolute advantage—endurance!

Although the Three Gods were Virtual Deities, they all possessed Divine Authority, from which they could endlessly draw Divine Power. In a battle of attrition, the Abyssal Werewolves were no match for them.

But...

’I can’t stop someone from flipping the table...’

Isaac could feel that the will hovering in the sky above the Underground Palace was gradually growing excited. The power of a Dimension was also slowly beginning to permeate the dungeon.

Once the other party entered the fray and Enhanced one of them to Tier Five, this battle would be over. There’d be no suspense at all!

As for whether it would do so...

There wasn’t much suspense there either. After all, it was already in the process of doing so. Besides, three self-nerfed True Gods teaming up to clear an Underground Palace was enough to max out a Demon God’s curiosity.

Not to mention an unbelievable combination like two True Gods and one Evil God!

Just capturing these three would be a huge prize.

So, seeing that the Three Gods were taking too long to defeat the Abyssal Werewolves, Isaac didn’t hesitate. He directly ordered the two Gods to retreat, with the Master of Blood covering their rear!

”Retreat!”

Hearing Isaac’s command in their minds, Mephisto and the Fighting God were startled. Though they didn’t understand, their trust in their Divine Master was absolute. Without a moment’s hesitation, they abandoned the advantageous situation, turned, and flew back, instantly leaving the Master of Blood at the front.

’Hm?’

Just as the Demon God in the sky above was feeling bewildered by the situation on the battlefield, something horrifying happened!

It watched as the True Gods, Mephisto and the Fighting God, who were covered in the righteous light of True Gods, bypassed the Master of Blood and flew swiftly toward the exit passage. But the Evil God, the Master of Blood, who was wreathed in foul energy, did not follow to have them cover its retreat.

Instead, it flew directly toward the Abyssal Werewolves, its Divine Power beginning to boil as it moved!

A third of a second later, a blood-red Sun rose in the Wolf Howl Abyss!

The Evil God, the Master of Blood, had actually self-detonated to cover the retreat for two True Gods who had just sold it out?

What the hell was going on?!

This sudden change left the Demon God in the sky completely stunned. It even stopped the process of Enhancing the Wolf King to Tier Five, because a more absurd but terrifying thought had uncontrollably surfaced in its mind—

’Don’t tell me that Master of Blood was being controlled by a Wizard?’
