Chapter 2846: Chapter 2847: Mind Communication

Although Olao was reprimanded by Augustine, the determination in his eyes remained unwavering.

Compared to meeting Angel for the first time, Olao was more concerned about his master Augustine.

Moreover, the insistence of waiting for millennia would only deepen the obsession and not erase this longing over time.

Seeing Olao’s unwavering gaze, Augustine sighed softly in his heart... he felt both touched and guilty about Olao. The guilt stemmed from not choosing to take Olao with him back then, leaving him to wait alone for millennia; and their limited compatibility, preventing him from personally guiding Olao to the peak.

To make up for this guilt, Augustine chose Angel, a more suitable new master for Olao after many years.

However, it’s difficult to change a millennium of perseverance easily.

It’s even harder for Olao to immediately accept Angel.

The only consolation is that although Olao is unwilling to proactively accept Angel, he’s willing to listen to Augustine’s orders and try to follow and cooperate with Angel.

However, this might seem unfair to Angel... After all, no one wants the clothes they painstakingly tailored to become someone else’s wedding dress in the end.

Augustine turned to look at Angel, only to find that Angel seemed indifferent to Olao’s remarks.

As Angel watched the ”deep bond between master and servant” play out before him, Augustine’s voice suddenly echoed in his mind: ”What do you think?”

”Olao’s choice is correct.” Angel’s thoughts flowed naturally: ”Instead, you’re a bit too cruel to Olao, sir.”

Olao was like a loyal dog guarding its old home for millennia, waiting for its master’s arrival, longing for the master’s praise, hoping that the master would take it away.

Yet this master turned out to be a complete jerk, never having thought of Olao all these years. When he finally did come, it was under the pretense of Angel. Most importantly, upon arrival, instead of offering praise, he tells the loyal dog, I’ve found you a new master, you need to sincerely follow the new master~

No matter how you think about it, it’s too cruel to Olao.

Augustine chuckled softly: ”You are indeed very interesting. At this moment, instead of thinking about how to maximize your benefits, you empathize. I’m suddenly curious about your upbringing.”

What kind of upbringing could give rise to such a uniquely minded individual?

Angel: ”Perhaps it’s because I had a very excellent mentor.”

Augustine: ”A mentor, huh? I believe that.”

Pausing for a moment, Augustine continued his mind communication with Angel: ”If Olao follows you with his current mindset, would you agree?”

Angel’s thoughts continued: ”Why wouldn’t I agree?”

Augustine pondered and realized it made sense, Olao was a unique potential embryo in the entire Wizards’ Realm apart from Adigu, and no alchemist would probably refuse.

Augustine: ”As long as you agree. I hope you can use time to win him over, even better if you can make him forget about me.”

Angel: ...Look at these words, they just epitomize the role of being a jerk. Miss Margaret, come see what kind of love ’em and leave ’em ethos your beloved man possesses!

Angel internally grumbled, yet outwardly remained calm and unperturbed.

But suddenly, Augustine said, ”Did you forget that I’m speaking to you in your mind? I can hear whatever you’re thinking.”

Angel’s previously smiling expression suddenly froze.

Well, uh... seems like that’s exactly the case. Wasn’t he just ranting in his mind?

What a blunder! Angel really wished there was a hole he could crawl into right now and never come out.

Even outsiders could see Angel’s awkward expression, let alone Augustine who was in mind communication with him.

Augustine: ”So, in your eyes, I’m a jerk abandoning Olao. I didn’t expect that.”

He only thought Angel had strong empathy, unexpectedly Angel not only empathized but also took Olao’s perspective and felt outraged on behalf of Olao.

Augustine was somewhat at a loss whether to cry or to laugh.

Being called a jerk, Augustine couldn’t possibly be happy about it; yet the thought of Angel siding with Olao comforted him. At least it showed that the new master he found for Olao isn’t heartless and wouldn’t treat Olao unfairly.

Augustine: ”Saying this in front of me is fine, but if you dare say it in front of Margaret when you meet her, that would be courting death.”

Angel awkwardly replied: ”I won’t say it.”

Angel: I won’t even meet Margaret! Oops, why am I thinking in my mind again!

Augustine looked at Angel with a subtle smile: ”Whether you meet Margaret or not isn’t up to you to decide, even without the arrangement of the Book of Kael, eventually, you and Margaret will meet. After all, your alchemy originates from Margaret, doesn’t it?”

Angel: ”What does sir know?”

Augustine: ”You have an inseparable connection with the Nightmare Realm, I wasn’t wrong about that, right?”

Angel answered with silence.

Augustine: ”A lot of your items have traces of alchemy on them, even though I haven’t seen the exact refining process, the techniques are very similar to Margaret’s, with slight differences. But Margaret definitely doesn’t have a student like you, so how did you learn Margaret’s alchemy?”

”A little conjecture reveals the answer. You found Margaret’s alchemy through a projection in Nightmare Abyss City, right? The projection from the Nightmare Realm isn’t an exact replica, but rather one imbued with unique Yan connotations, which makes your alchemy look derived from Margaret’s, yet indistinctly different, prompted by Yan’s revision.”

”This is actually a good thing, Margaret has always sought to improve alchemy, perhaps she could find her answers in you, and Margaret surely wouldn’t shortchange you.”

”Finally, if you genuinely don’t want to meet Margaret, I have a suggestion for you, avoid using Margaret’s alchemy in the future; otherwise, you’re bound to meet her.”

Augustine’s certainty naturally had a basis. Angel’s future destination was unknown to Augustine, but he knew Angel would undoubtedly go to the Origin World.

Once there and using Margaret’s alchemy to refine tools which then leaked, eventually, they’d circle back to Margaret’s attention.

Margaret would also notice the distinct differences in Angel’s alchemy, thus proactively seeking out Angel.

This is something he cannot escape.

Unless Angel doesn’t use Margaret’s alchemy, or when he stays in the Origin World, he completely refrains from revealing any alchemy tools.

But is that possible?

In the Origin World, without ability, one cannot take a single step. Angel’s alchemy ability is undoubtedly the best stepping stone.

Therefore, in Augustine’s view, Angel is destined to meet Margaret, it’s fate.

After listening to Augustine, Angel was not only surprised by Augustine’s understanding of the Nightmare Realm, but also pondered over Augustine’s words about fate.

Angel doesn’t believe in destiny, but he does indeed use Margaret’s alchemy, even though it’s an improved version from the Nightmare Realm. Therefore, meeting Margaret might truly be inevitable.

However, even if they do meet, that’s something for the future. For now, Angel is more concerned about what Augustine said about the Nightmare Realm.

”Are you very familiar with the Nightmare Realm? Have you also been to Naraku City in the Nightmare Realm?”

Augustine: ”The Nightmare Realm is mysterious even when placed in the Origin World. My level of understanding should be far below yours; but as for Naraku City in the Nightmare Realm, yes, I have been there. I know your reason for coming to the Qingkong Poetry Room is for the Qingkong Poetry Room in Naraku City, right?”

At this point, Angel did not conceal the truth. Augustine instantly pointed out that his alchemy was an improved version from the Nightmare Realm, and during his continuous questioning about Olao earlier, he also hinted at Angel’s purpose. So, Angel thought for a moment and nodded: ”Yes. What do you think of the Qingkong Poetry Room in Naraku City?”

”I don’t really think much of it. I can’t enter.” Augustine’s voice resonated in Angel’s heart. Although it was very calm, Angel inexplicably heard a trace of frustration.

”The real key can’t open the Qingkong Poetry Room in the Nightmare Realm?” Angel wondered.

Augustine shook his head: ”I don’t know about that. When I had just been promoted to Legendary Rank, I accidentally visited Naraku City in the Nightmare Realm. I wanted to take a look at the Qingkong Poetry Room, but was blocked by a bunch of Maneater Flowers. After managing to advance a little, I was hit by a baseless spiritual impact. Even though I had prepared defenses, I couldn’t ward off that spiritual impact.”

”This might be a unique ability of the Nightmare Realm. It didn’t feel strong, but it directly attacked my Spirit Sea. Before falling into a coma, I actively returned to reality.”

Angel listened silently, summarizing the information Augustine conveyed: Augustine is indeed a wizard above the level of Legendary. He was already Legendary when he visited the Nightmare Realm; could he be even higher now? In pursuit of truth, he ventured far away, perhaps already at the pinnacle of Legendary Rank, or even a Miracle Wizard?

Moreover, even at Legendary Rank, Augustine couldn’t withstand that wall’s spiritual attack.

This somewhat surprised Angel. A spiritual impact that affects the Legendary Rank should, in theory, directly annihilate mortals. But when Angel was still a mortal, although it was hard to endure the spiritual impact, he ultimately wasn’t obliterated by it.

So, does that wall’s spiritual impact differentiate based on people? The stronger one faces a greater impact, but for the weaker, the impact might lessen?

Currently, it remains unknown, he’ll have to go and see for himself.

”I have had a few more encounters with the Nightmare Realm since then, none very pleasant. Or rather, quite unpleasant.” Augustine: ”Anyway, the rules there are too strange, it’s not a place for normal humans to stay.”

”I intended to further explore Naraku City in the Nightmare Realm, but I haven’t entered Naraku City in my subsequent visits to the Nightmare Realm.” Augustine expressed some regret: ”Given your close ties with the Nightmare Realm, you should have a way to enter Naraku City?”

Angel nodded: ”I do.”

Augustine sighed: ”If I weren’t in a distant realm, I’d really like to go with you. After all, it’s my territory, why am I not allowed to enter?”

Angel: ”... You’ve always mentioned a distant realm, I wonder, where is this distant realm?”

To Augustine, it seemed like Angel was steering the conversation, not intending to continue talking about the Nightmare Realm. Augustine pondered whether he might have touched upon Angel’s secret? Whether or not, Augustine decided not to press Angel and followed along with Angel’s topic.

But in reality, Angel wasn’t avoiding the topic, since Augustine couldn’t deal with that ”wall”, continuing to ask him was pointless. Might as well ask about something he cared about more—whether the place Augustine visits is at a distant extreme, or even aiming to surpass the limits of the universe?

Augustine: ”It’s a very distant place, where space is chaotic, and everything is bizarre. It both exists in reality and does not.”

”Is it in another dimension?” Angel asked after remembering the scene when Wang Wang took him on a dimensional journey. It was equally bizarre and chaotic, so he made this conjecture.

”You’re also thinking about dimensions? You’re quite like my old friends.” Augustine: ”Regardless of where you’ve learned about dimensions, let me tell you, dimensions are not something you need to understand now. Existing records are all wrong, but some speculations from the Orderly Guild are true.”

”Dimensions are a pitfall all researchers might fall into. That holds true in the Origin World and various Wizards’ Realms. Delving into dimensions at your current strength will only waste your time needed for promotion; if you’re unable to ascend to Legendary, you’ll waste all your potential.”

”However, since you guessed about dimensions, I can tell you, the place I visited is indeed somewhat related to dimensions, but not entirely. You don’t need to know where I am now. If you find a way to showcase the glory of the Twinborn Mirror, you’ll naturally have a way to find me.”

Angel: ”The glory of the Twinborn Mirror... If I would like to borrow your Mirror of Truth for some research, would you agree?”

Augustine: ”If it’s for Olao, Adigu would agree. However, this means you’ll definitely encounter Margaret, are you prepared to meet her?”

Angel: ”Miss Margaret should be easy to talk to, right?”

Augustine smiled subtly and said, with some deeper meaning: ”That’s not certain. The woman I like is quite special.”

Angel: ”... Then I’ll take Cicia to meet with Miss Margaret.”

Augustine paused for a moment: ”You can take Cicia away?”

Angel didn’t answer.

Augustine did not pursue it further, and instead contemplated: ”If you can really let Cicia meet Margaret, Margaret would likely forgo any test, and directly treat you as family.”

”... A test?”

Augustine: ”You have inherited her alchemy. With her personality, she will definitely test you. Of course, if you have another way, like you mentioned, bringing Cicia to see her, if that makes her happy, the testing will naturally be dropped.”

As Augustine was about to continue, he suddenly paused: ”Oh no, my energy is about to run out. I haven’t finished instructing Olao and Adanis yet, let’s stop here. If we ever meet again, all these matters can still be discussed.”

”By the way, a final warning. In the Origin World, the Nightmare Realm is a hot research topic. Try not to reveal your connection to the Nightmare Realm. However, discussing it is okay.”

”There are occasional passages from the Nightmare Realm to the Origin World, and many legendary wizards have gone in, there might even be miracle wizards.”

”Therefore, even if you venture by yourself into the Nightmare Realm, you should conceal your identity as much as possible. Otherwise, if it becomes known that you have other ways to enter the Nightmare Realm, it could lead to endless trouble.”

”However, even legendary wizards must follow the Nightmare Realm’s rules when they enter. Their senses find it hard to discern whether you are human or a creature from the Nightmare Realm. So, if you encounter these strong individuals, your performance skills might prevent you from being discovered.”

With that, the mind communication between Angel and Augustine abruptly ended.
